So now my final review of the game.

Life is Strange: Double Exposure is a messy, but lovable game. It's a nostalgia trip, a reboot reminiscent of our favourite protagonist from the original. Despite all the drama with what happened with Chloe, I'm forever grateful that we still have Max's half of that. I'm hoping that future iterations will genuinely respect our decisions made in the first game and fill in that missing half, as I do agree that Deck Nine sort of cast that away and disrespected why we fell in love with the original.

Beyond the nostalgia, Double Exposure's writing is seriously a mind-♥♥♥♥. It's never going to hit as hard as Max and Chloe, but Double Exposure's focus on science fiction (and a murder mystery obviously) stands out among the franchise, giving Remedy's Control vibes which clicks so well with the overall writing of the game. Credit should definitely be given to the performances too, each character had a reason to exist, their own motivations, their own struggles to really complement that "whodunit" trope of a good murder mystery.

Finally, the graphics and the soundtrack are genuinely impressive. The lighting, animations and cinematography is absolutely stunning, with a tracks that I think can rival a powerful soundtrack from the original.

This game is legendary. If you're looking for a co-op, survival-horror game then this is the game for you. I haven't played any of the original Outlast games, but I am familiar with the series and its gameplay. My friends and I joined the closed beta last year, October and we had a lot of fun (and scares) playing this game.

If you're looking for a game that's horror, with a lot of jumpscares and terrifying moments (PT, FNaF), you might not find that in this. This game is not that, but more so horrifying, adrenaline-pumping situations.

Outlast is a game about avoiding enemies, hiding, sneaking around them and, if worse comes to worst, getting the absolute ♥♥♥♥ outta of there by running as fast as your chicken legs can run, slamming doors and using whatever you have to delay your unstoppable pursuers. The Outlast Trials is that, but less story, more gameplay with co-op.

I know some of you might not get this game because of co-op, as it might ruin the horror of the game. First things first, Red Barrels did an amazing job balancing the horror with the co-op. The game is full of situations where you are separated with your team, confronted with unstoppable enemies and the only defence you have is a single glass bottle. Secondly, you can play the game solo. Red Barrels have optimized the gameplay for both solo players and co-op players.

TL;DR - The Outlast Trials is an adrenaline-pumping, gameplay focused, horrifying game that is perfect for both co-op and solo players, and I would recommend it to those who want a gameplay-oriented, survival-horror game.

EDIT: After 25 hours of gameplay, the game has come a long way already in support of the community. The new trial is amazing (probably one of my favourites) and it hasn't gotten repetitive or boring just yet.

game looks pretty, the building mechanics are unique, Kelvin is the best and UI looks clean. Definitely a step up from the original and worth my $43. Still need to patch out some performance issues, but that's about it. Will definitely become one of my favourite games of 2023.

As a fan of the entire series, I feel like Isonzo is definitely a step-up in terms of interesting mechanics.

I always found that Verdun and Tannenberg were a bit too easy as you can just unlock loadouts without doing any challenges or objectives which make the game much easier and less grindy. This is both a positive and a negative in Isonzo. Isonzo requires you to complete challenges to unlock weapons and loadouts. This gives the game a bit more of a grind, which I like. However, if you play casually and you're not going for these challenges, your loadouts could be significantly weaker compared to those who has unlocked it.

The elevation has to be one of the best 'features' in this game. Not only does it create a scenic view when you're on top of these mountains, but provide a lot to the 'attacker vs defender' style gameplay this game has. But there's a significant negative to this, which I will talk about later.

The class system has been present in all of the games in this series, but Isonzo has a much more variety in these classes. In Verdun and Tannenberg, the classes at most would have different guns and a special skill like giving ammo, grenades and field radio. In Isonzo, there are many more classes like engineers, mountaineers, marksman and the basic rifleman. Each one provides some value to the team and unlike Verdun & Tannenberg, they all have different things to do. Instead of just 'giving ammo, then charge the enemy,' roles like mountaineers are meant for sneaking around enemy positions and engineers are meant for building and playing the support role instead of just 'provide one thing, all charge.'

Now, time for my issue with the game.
My biggest issue with the game is that the attacking side is extremely hard in my 3 hours experience. I've played at least 6 different rounds and I have lost every offensive and won every defensive. I think the problem is the AI. The defender side AI all stay on point and camp angles. And you can't really win when you have 20+ guns pointed at the entry to an objective. And yes, I do know that you're supposed to work cooperatively and find strategy. Which is impossible unless you have communication between your team, or find friends (even harder). Another problem which adds to this is people not playing other roles. I see most players on the Rifleman role, so the classes won't fill up and your team might be lacking special equipment which could be useful on both defence and especially attack.

That was my review of Isonzo. Please take this review with a grain of salt; I've only played 4 hours and this game was released roughly 12 hours ago. Things will change and we'll understand how to play the game. My experience in Verdun and Tannenberg might also be inaccurate, I've never really explored more than the surface of 'cool WWI shooter.'

A hardcore WW1 shooter published by those who published Squad and Post Scriptum. It's a fun game with unique mechanics like an actual melee system, squad-based system and WW1-era guns. However, the game has barely any playerbase. Unless you're in America (who only has 1 active server with 60+ people at peak), you won't be able to find any servers. Fortunately, the developers are making bots for the game, which is a solution, albeit not a very pretty one. Hopefully, the AI can kickstart some servers and revive the game.

Game must be pretty based if the my Government (Australian) banned it and leaked an unannounced console port. Here are some experiences from a single save:

>Started a multiplayer game, made some of my friends as characters in game, started growing smokeleaf (weed) and basically made a drug empire like Breaking Bad.
>Moved some colonists to colonize new locations - found a mountain type terrain and that colony struggled a lot, having to deal with bug infestations and raid after raid, we called this colony the Gulag.
>Moved some other colonists to a riverside - somehow did better with 2 colonists with not too much resources than 5 colonists with a good amount of resources (the Gulag btw).
>My friend, Dimosevvas, forced their equivalent in-game character to harvest a kidney from another friend (this other friend was being an ass)

So, yeah. Like how the devs advertised this game, it's a story generator.
