As a film lover, this was great - however, do yourself a favor and PLEASE use a controller instead of keyboard and mouse! Not only is the player actually given *more* control with a controller, but vibration is very important in unearthing all of the mysteries that lie in wait in this rabbit hole of weirdness. After spending so much time with them, I feel like I really *know* these characters. A very interesting experience, especially if you really dig in and make all of the discoveries...

One of the greatest games ever made. Fun flight and physics, surprisingly touching story, absolutely terrifying cosmic horror, interesting puzzles, excellent micro adventures, total comedy gold through your own ineptitude. Yes, it truly does have it all.

Great first-person dungeon crawler roguelite where you reduce enemies to piles of goop one limb at a time by smacking them with big weapons or your fists. It's an absolutely, ultra-violent good time!

Stuffo is a great, intelligent puzzle game featuring a robot who, realistically, cannot jump and must figure out how to solve progressively more-intricate puzzles that incorporate new twists at a perfect pace. The minimal electronic music is also completely suitable and helps you get into the zone without distracting. I played it for several hours prior to the Steam release, so my playtime is closer to 5 hours. It's nice to pick up, solve a puzzle, and put down again. If you enjoy puzzles, I highly recommend it!

As a hardcore fan of Noita and fire in videogames, I 100% approve of this great, little game.

Absolutely legendary. In the far future, when the human race foregoes its physicality and becomes a virtual species, they'll be living in what we now call Dwarf Fortress, because they'll still be developing it.

Great, classic MMO from a bygone era, now on Steam. Has loads of content from 20+ years of development.
For now, I just wanted to get my thumbs up in, since I spent thousands of hours playing this over the years and owe it a good review on here.
-edit-
Having put in over 400 hours since the Steam launch, I can say that it's just as good as I remember, with a lot of new content - including quests, bosses, events and items - and more content/quality of life improvements also planned.

It's free to play, and while there IS a pay shop using a token system that DOES have very worthwhile things, you can very easily earn tokens for use in the shop by selling in-demand items to the community. So, for new players, taking up a tradeskill such as alchemy to make healing/stamina potions, sewing to make bandages, runecrafting to create totems, carpentry to create storage containers or arrows/bolts, etc. will allow them to earn tokens when lower-level. Once higher-level, and able to hunt for more in-demand item drops, more tokens can be earned easily.

Keep in mind that this isn't a game meant to be played for 10 hours. It's a game meant to be played for 10,000 hours. It's got that much content (and more) and demands that kind of investment to get the most out of it. The community is mostly very great, so that's easy to do.

A great, little FREE game for streamers looking to add some pizzazz between matches, games or segments - or for raffles - or simply viewer engagement. It's good. Support development of games like this! The option to support the dev by purchasing the DLC is also great.
It also has holy hand grenades. I mean, c'mon.

I've always been a fan of games that combine unique mechanics together in interesting ways. Loot River is a rogue-lite, dungeon crawler with Souls-lite combat and spatial block puzzles and...it works, but is still being improved.

Let's get down to the nitty gritty: there are negative reviews on here because, upon release, the game had some issues with, mainly, the early-game: the dash/dodge felt weird, movement in general was a little bit stilted, combat takes some getting used to, the difficulty outweighed the reward of runs, and there wasn't much worthwhile LOOT until multiple weapons, spells and armors were unlocked over the course of several runs.

These issues are all being fixed, though, very quickly, and now the game feels so much better already, just a week after release. It's a passion project from a very small indie team and they really should have had much more internal testing before release, but it is what it is. I'm confident that they'll make all the improvements the game deserves. Just consider it to be in early access still, I'd say, since major improvements are happening on an almost-daily basis.

Why the positive review? I believe in this game. It's got SO much potential. But, most importantly, after playing it for 15 hours so far: it's fun to play right now. I've enjoyed it that entire time (my initial jaunt through the First City notwithstanding, lol.) Just understand that it's a difficult game that was released with more in common with rogueLIKES than rogueLITES, though that is changing with the introduction of partially-spendable meta currency (unlocking new items a little bit at a time, like how Dead Cells does it.)

I'll update this review as more game updates happen. For now, I recommend it wholeheartedly for fans of dark fantasy dungeon crawlers and action roguelikes, with the caveat that they should have gone early access.

I played the demo a thousand times. Now early access is out with more content and it's really good and addictive. You like roguelites or interesting takes on roguelites, you get this.
