So far I'm having an absolute blast. It's a bit more action and a bit less horror, but it feels like an anthology of horror by the way Capcom is filling it with various classic monsters. The gameplay controls perfectly with keyboard and mouse, though the inventory binds can take a bit of time to get used to. It's also very nicely ported to PC. I was worried about that and, no, it runs smoooooth as butter.

There was recently yet another patch and I have just now returned to the game and...it runs MUCH more smoothly for me now, so I'm happy to announce that I'm now giving this a thumbs up. I hate that I had to give it a negative review previously, but it was very difficult for me to enjoy the experience with how horribly it performed on my system (and games are about enjoyment!)
The developers obviously care about getting it to a point where it performs well for all/most system configurations, with the amount of patches they've done since release, so it really does deserve this more positive review.
To them, I say: thank you. Now I can really sink in and enjoy this experience. Thank you for working hard to fix things. It's definitely appreciated!

To everyone else: yeah, it's a great game and now it's vastly improved, performance-wise, over its initial PC release.

The closed beta was extremely fun and addictive. On launch day, there have been a lot of server problems because of the vast amount of people trying to connect. I sort-of expected this, since the same thing happens to a lot of hyped online games on release day, especially when they're indies. Does that mean I should give this a negative score? No way! I'm sure they'll work through their current server issues as fast as possible, and the game itself is very good.

It does need more courses, yes, but even though I told myself after my first session that I was going to wait and see how it develops, I still jumped back in the very next day because I was already hooked. That's what's great about it: it starts up fast and you get into matches fast, so it's the perfect game to just jump into, fast, for a bit of fun between other things...or you could play all night like my friends and I did.

It has a vast amount of potential. I just really hope that they release an editor and allow the community to create and upload their own courses. This would obviously make for amazing longevity. We'll see. For now, despite the launch day server issues, I know what I'm getting into and it's a positive experience.

Pay no attention to my current time played. As most other early reviewers have noted, this game was the first exclusive on EGS and I've put in over 300 hours in the time before it hit Steam.

It's a great rogue-lite with frenetic, fast-paced combat, amazing music, voice acting and character and, obviously - since I've been playing for a year already - fantastic replay value, with enough gameplay and build variety to keep you coming back time and time again.
I give it 2 thumbs up - and a gorgon head-snake. Plus, you can pet the dog. I mean, c'mon.

Noita has an overwhelming amount of emergent gameplay variety and depth and there is a VAST amount of content outside of the relatively narrow scope presented to you immediately upon starting. Don't be afraid to dive in deep and explore. There is always something to find. If you enjoy secrets and optional content then this is your new world to live, and die, in.

Every single pixel in the game is simulated and has different properties depending on what it composes - a solid, liquid, gas, magical spell, or even body. You will see oil burning on top of water, creating steam that collects along the cavern roof before condensing back into individual pixels of water and dripping back down onto the ground...and that's just the most basic of physics simulations happening around you constantly. There is an in-depth secret magical alchemy system as well. The entire world is destructible - every pixel of it.

The wand-crafting system is also much more complex than most people realize. It is very much like a mini-programming language, capable of creating extremely impressive, game-bending feats in addition to basic magical attacks - allowing the player to deal quadrillions of damage in seconds, attain infinite life or instantly teleport into distant realities. The depths of this system are still not even close to being reached, after all this time.

What you end up with is an open-world, action rogue-like inside of an impressive physics simulation, surrounded by deep lore, Finnish mythology and numerous hidden mysteries. If this sounds interesting to you, get ready to sink many hours into this gem. Just understand that this is very much a difficult game that tells you nothing, demanding patience and that gets better the more you learn about it - but go in blind if you can. Every single victory and every single lesson belongs to you.

Reventure plays like a 2D platformer mixed with a Choose-Your-Own-Adventure book. It's funny. It's wildly inventive. And I enjoyed every minute of my time with it...however, I wasn't playing it alone.
I think it's important to say that right off the bat: I streamed this game with Twitch integration turned on so that my viewers could sort-of play along with me. Basically, when one of them was picked as the next "hero of legend" I allowed them to back-seat as much as they wanted and lead us to our next ending. With that in mind, this was one of the greatest gaming experiences I've had in a long time. Even if I had just played it on my own, though, the game is great and *well* worth your time and the asking price.
At the time of this writing, I have logged around 17 hours in the game and I just today completed *all* 100 endings - with chat's help of course ;)

Some of the key features:

- 100 Endings: some simple, some pretty complex, ALL extremely memorable
- the more items you pick up, the heavier your character becomes, closing certain paths that you can't jump high enough to access
- stream integration
- 2D metroidvania-lite style gameplay
- simple but nice pixel art
- GREAT music
- secrets, easter eggs and more...

It has an immortal (space) chicken and a (devious) space babe...what's not to love? Also: tense survival gameplay that is more "difficult" than Subnautica, though similar. Exploration can be hampered by your lack of an ability to breath in space, but explore you must! There are many little easter eggs hiding around every corner of the wrecked ship that really add to the personality of the experience. Yes, this game has great personality.
My hours played say 4.4, so that's how long it took me to play through the first chapter. Sure, I got an early review copy, but it was a great experience. I didn't experience any bugs. It looks fantastic.
If I had to complain about something then it would be that my babe stopped talking to me a good hour before I reached the end. Where are you babe? I'm looking for you! Maybe I will find you in another chapter...

I honestly can't understand all the bad reviews. I'm absolutely loving every minute I spend in this game. At the time of this writing, I'm 10 hours in and I'm only on the 3rd major area (of six or eight?) I've been taking it slow and farming enemies for rare drops, which is extremely enjoyable for me.
Peoples' primary complaint is the combat and "same-y" looking rooms. Well, the combat in the first area *was* a little weak, but as soon as I got to the second major area, the combat has been just fine. It's an old-school style metroidvania with old-school style gameplay and there's absolutely nothing wrong with that. As for the same-y looking rooms? Each of the areas is pretty huge, but there are a variety of different areas.
If you have played any dungeon crawlers then that is what this game feels like to me: a metroidvania *dungeon crawler* with RPG elements. It's a smaller package than something like Hollow Knight. That's fine by me.

Make no mistake - this is one of the very best explorative platformers you can play. It has intense and well-designed boss fights along with a minimal but interesting story, and that's referring to just the tip of the iceberg that is the "main" progression of the game. There is a staggering amount of post-game content here that is truly inspired and inspiring.
After you think the game is over, you realize it's riddled with secrets that pull you deeper and deeper down the rabbit hole - more than any other game I've played.
Enjoy it.

It's the best of the Elder Scrolls series says me, and with the Morrowind Sound and Graphics Overhaul it looks and sounds just as good as anything today.
