I was really not expecting to love this game as much as I do. Melon Journey is a fun little mystery game with so many fun characters you meet along the way. The game is really quaint & I loved that it had some fun mature humor in it. Playing this really gave me a lot of nostalgia for the GBA games I grew up on like Hamtaro. I really enjoyed the music throughout & often would sometimes just hang out in certain areas far longer then probably intended just because I enjoyed the music in those scenes. XD

For achievement hunters you can easily get all achievements in one playthrough; but if you're like me where you missed one or two on the first run just because you didn't want spoilers in the guide you can very quickly pick them up in under an hour in a second speedrun.

10/10 hidden gem of game imho.

Early Access Review
Don't buy the game at full price like I made the mistake of doing...

The amount of times i've gotten trapped in dialog with characters or just grinding for ore & my character getting stuck in place is insane. I haven't even unlocked the castle yet which is a very early game quest & i've had to restart this game more then 5 times due to my character getting trapped & forcing me to restart. (Thankfully restarts respawn you at your house but since you can't save when stuck sometimes you will lose some gameplay time...)

I really want to enjoy this game but having this many issues so early in the game is making me dread what other bugs are going to pop up as i'm playing... I want to recommend this game but I don't feel like I can in it's current state.

My fiance & I tend to have a hard time finding Co-Op games that hold both of our interests for long periods of time or doesn't have really broken Co-Op that makes it unplayable *looking at you Gen Zero*. This game has hit the sweet spot for both of us & we've been having an awesome time playing this together, to the point that we are excited when we get home from work to immediately hop on & play together. Deciding what routes to take in the story & planning our different builds together to mesh well when fighting big bosses is so fun to do. I can definitely see us both getting the DLC later down the line in this game.

Only negative things I've felt toward the game thus far are finding Silver keys in Normal mode is a pain to grind esp in dungeons or places that require multiple and none are getting dropped in the map. While it's an ability you can unlock from leveling; I do wish the pacing for our characters was a smidge faster. They just feel a little slow at times to move around especially when you're trying to cover huge maps for the missed hidden secrets.

This is a Neutral Review.

The theme is fun & I enjoy the music/simulation games like this. However I find it very slow to start up & a lack of English in the game. While there is English translation on the main menu to a degree & on basic controls upon startup there are none in the store pages to explain what things are aside from saying if something is a wall decoration. This makes things a bit confusing even with the pictures as you don't fully know what things are. That said. I did create an English achievement guide for anyone who still wants to try this game out. (as the achievements are only in Chinese).

I may make another guide down the line as to what store items are/what they do to help more English speakers who want to try this game out. Despite all this I am still enjoying the game play.. I fully understand this game is made by a Chinese developer; however I think there needs to be more translation in the game to be able to claim this game has English interface/subtitles because I am still needing to use a translator/play around on the game to figure out parts that are left fully in Chinese.

Never loved a game so quickly. Adored the Halloween event as well! <3

Fun little walking simulator with easy achievement gets as well. Love all the different theories folks are having on the plot in the community discussions. Super fun & short to play through for Halloween Night. Enjoyed all the rides; only found the Haunted house one to start to get a little repetitive near the end but it did get me with the first jumpscare.

Not sure why people are trying to compare this game to FNAF; the concept in this game is way different from FNAF & just because they both have a mascot in the game doesn't make them the same. The gameplay itself is way different as well with a completely different plot.

Fun, with cute graphics but I can't fully recommend esp if you're a Free To Play gamer. This is not a game i'd personally spend money on especially with the cost to gem ratio. It is not worth it for how little gems you would receive.

Some animals cost A LOT of gems to buy & if you like the idea of decorating your zoo expect to pay gems for that too. You can only place a small amount of every single type of decoration. (example being only 10 of ONE type of flower unless you pay gems to expand that amount...).

While I am enjoying what F2P parts there are; the excessive amount of quests, items, decorations & animals that absolutely make you realize you can't advance unless you spend money for gems makes me give this game a BIG thumbs down. Its near impossible to even get free gems that isn't tiresome & takes forever over the course of weeks.

The game is fun when you first start playing, after the learning curve is figured out everything becomes tedious if you don't intend to buy gems.

Having a ton of fun with it so far & excited to have some friends joining this week to play in game with me. I haven't really had a lot of issues or much to complain about with the game. I only hope in the future we will be able to have more then one character.

Made a cute bee character and while i've played a bit of the tutorial/quest log i've mostly just been enjoying the game, joining other players with battles and building my base. Honestly i'm already pretty hooked on the game and can't wait to see what is in store as the developers work on this game & add more content down the line! <3

graphics and controls aren't bad. enjoyable while I was playing it. you can get full achievements in under 10 mins. I bought the game while it was on a $0.99 sale. I don't think this is a game worth $10 for how quickly this game can be completed & honestly don't quite get the high price point for something that can be so quickly ran through.

-My review is actually more of a neutral stance but Steam doesn't give that as an option-

So the game was enjoyable to an extent for being the shortest game I've ever played on steam. But i'm also someone who enjoys pretty much anything to do with Yokai lore or themes. 10 mins for $4 on a game that doesn't really have much replayability does feel a bit steep though tbh.

There's not really context as far as a story line in the game. You start up & it shows you the control buttons & you go from there. If I hadn't read the description for the game I'd honestly had never known there was suppose to be some sort of story for what I was doing. (There's a black screen upon start up with a skip button in the corner - if there was suppose to be some sort of explanation or cut scene there it doesn't work.)

There's only three levels, the final being the boss. You collect seals & attack Yokai while dodging the yokai you can't defeat. I found the second level fun but with the camera view & the small rooms it made it a bit difficult to see, I wish there had been a first person view for that level tbh.
