Here's the thing.

This game does most things better than average, in every aspect going even beyond the game itself, a DRM free realease on GOG comes to mind as an example.

Still, you might not like it. I know some people who just couldn't get into it, sad to me but I guess even doing everything right doesn't mean you'll appeal to everyone.

Now that that warning is out of the way let's look at the things that are objectively positive about the game.
-DRM free release
-tons of free DLC
-2 fantastic paid dlc that are essentially games on their own (especially the second one though the first one has an amazing story)
-huge amounts of extremely high quality content
-the game is incredibly well optimized, running well on low settings on lower end machines and going all the way up to ultra @1080p on my GTX970.
-and when you get it up to ultra ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ looks amazing
-well written story based on the work of someone who actually knows what he's doing as far as writing is concerned.
-nvidia Ansel support allows you to take incredible looking screenshots of the beautiful world and awesomely designed monsters
-easy to mod with a wealth of awesome mods online.

Now for my personal experiences.

I frequently run out of adjectives when trying to describe how much I love this game. This game is absolutely amazing and if I were forced to make a top 10 list of all games I've ever played you bet your ass this would be in the top 3 easily. The sheer amount of content is absolutely mind boggling, and they didn't just go full ubisoft and slap the same encounter on the map in 500 different locations, the sidequests are all individually interesting, fully written and voice acted, and completely unique in nature.

There may be a distinction between the "main" story and the sidequests, but the sidequests all tell their stories and they do it very well. (The free DLC quests are must install btw, absolutely fantastic.) You can spend hours upon hours doing sidequests and it won't feel like a chore.

The main story I felt was very well written (for a videogame, sadly this distinction still has to be made) and definitely moved me in a wide variety of ways.

I usually don't like predetermined characters for RPGs because they often end up being lazily written and generic. Geralt I felt had an interesting enough backstory and characteristic to make it not only bearable to me but actually end up as a positive. I

The combat feels fantastic to me, it's not dark souls of course, but it works well with the setting. The flow of the combat is great and the finishers are implemented very smoothly into the fight, not taking away from the fight like they might do in Assassin's Creed (though I also love them there). The finishers themselves can be pretty damn gory but look awesome.

You've got a ton of options on how to approach combat and can build your Geralt to have different fighting styles, obviously the variation is not too great as to stray from the character or the source material, but that's the problem with any RPG that has a predetermined character.

I just realized I'm writing a mostly incoherent wall of text that is one review among thousands.

Honestly, while it's on sale and you got enough money there is no good excuse to not buy it unless you've tried it before and didn't like it.

After the disappointing Roller Coaster Tycoon World announcement there seemed to really be no hope for the Coaster Tycoon Genre. As RCT World kept getting passed around developers like a cheap hooker the outlook grew dimmer and dimmer.

But the developers that brought us RCT2 DLC and RCT3 and its DLC were already working on a new title. Planet Coaster. And a promising looking one at that.
And boy have I been having fun with this game. If I had to use one word to describe this game's greatest aspect it would have to be Freedom.
The way the game lets you take total control on how you want to build is fantastic, the terrain and building tools are simple to use and extremely effective at creating exactly what you wanted to create. The fact that you are allowed to clip scenery and buildings into terrain and each other already frees you up to use the given tools in so many creative ways.

Really the only issues I have with this game are small quality of life problems.

If you enjoyed RCT3 this is pretty much a must buy, it is well worth the price.

The negative reviews for this game are pretty much all due to performance issues with some systems.
I can't speak for those people, because I've not had a single crash or a single instance of unbearable fps even during the time in which my PC was rather mediocre in comparison with most others.

I actually felt the game was optimized fantastically.

If you don't have problems running it there is a very high chance that you will have heaps of fun with this game, but there is one core problem with the gameplay.
It's rather repetitive.

Now if you're able to make your own fun and push the sandbox to its limits in trying to find out what kinds of stupid ♥♥♥♥ you can do with the impossible armory at your disposal then that shouldn't be a problem.
If your goal is simply to do everything in the most efficient way possible then you'll become extremely bored extremely quick.

tl;dr: Be prepared to make your own fun using the fantastic sandbox JC3 gives you. (that is if you're lucky enough to belong to the seemingly randomly selected people who can even run it properly"

There's already so many reviews that I doubt mine will be more than a statistic, but either way.

Get it. I won't talk about the game at all because I feel like the less you know, the more you're going to enjoy yourself but definitely get it.

It's genuinely one of the most amazing gaming experiences I've had in a long time

I was a massive fan of the original Assassin's creed games and quickly realized that the series was bound to lose quality over time (as it did).

So when I picked up Assassin's Creed Black Flag I didn't expect a great Assassin's Creed game.

And I didn't get one. Matter of fact, I think it would be a terrible game if it focused more on the Assassin aspect of the story, that didn't really seem to fit the main character or the situation he found himself in all that well.

But while Ubisoft may have given us a mediocre AC game with Black Flag it seems they accidentally created an amazing and beautiful pirate game.
The Pirate story is believable, the setting and maps are absolutely breathtaking, as is the experience out on sea, with the sound of waves crashing against your ship, cannons and seagulls in the distance and your crew singing shanties as you roam the map in search of adventure.

If this game is on sale and you can run it I see little reason to not pick it up, it's easy to lose yourself in the beautiful world and story and I can't think of a single pirate oriented game that can even reach the overall feel of this title.

TL;DR: Meh AC game, Amazing Pirate game. Do get.

edit: disregard everything below, it's actually kinda good now. DLC business model is still pretty questionable but whatever. good ♥♥♥♥.

To be honest, I've resented this game's business model even before the recent microtransactions were added.

It's essentially a 20 Euro game at it's core, but with about 100€ of DLC available. All of these are low effort and add either a new heist (map), a new character, new guns, or new masks.

Nothing that requires a lot of work and yet they ask for ludicrously high prices.

The company also basically sells out to anyone who is willing to use them to advertise.
Huge community goal? Here guys you will be awarded with john wick advertisement. (Okay the movie is pretty dope, but still.)

Paid Seven Bucks for a DLC? Have fun reading everything about why allesso is so great and seeing his face and name everywhere as we literally sell you advertisement.

You grinded ♥♥♥♥♥♥ challenges for crimefest, which is about giving the community content for free?

YOUR REWARD

IT IS

MICROTRANSACTIONS.

you're welcome.

This is a tough one.

If you haven't played HM1, don't buy this. Play the first one and then decide, honestly I think it's still better.

HM2 carries over some of the charm we know and love from the first installment of the series but still makes slight changes in level design that change gameplay fundamentally.

Going 'Melee only' is a lot harder now than it used to be, as the game encourages guns and combos more than its predecessor.

The experience changes drastically because of this, as it makes the game a lot more strategic and tactical and gives up some of the flow I loved in the first game.
Often times you will find enemies (with guns) far away from you and will die to situations that are simply impossible to survive without knowing what waits for you behind some long distances. These enemies will be impossible to kill without stopping or slowing down to press shift to look further out, which heavily influences flow.

Without giving anything away I can tell you that the story will now have you play a multitude of different characters which means that choosing a mask rarely happens at all and usually without a lot of variety. This isn't something I miss too much though, because the unique character designs really manage to make up for it.

I'd say the game is inferior to the first one in very many ways, but that doesn't make it a bad game at all, considering just how amazing Hotline Miami was for most people who played it.

The story good enough and still manages to keep some of the 'what is happening?' confusion you might have felt during the first game alive.

All in all I would probably recommend this game to anyone who enjoyed the first game. If you're sceptic, try to pick it up on sale.
If you feel like the first game lacked a bit of strategy, then there really isn't a whole lot for you to think about. Buy it.
