Hellish, grotesque, nightmare-inducing.
Definitely not for the faint of heart.

A game like no other. A game where all the puzzles make sense and the end result is inexplicable on so many levels. A visceral experience. The art direction and attention to detail are top-notch. I love a game which doesn't hold your hand, and this one is up there, as you have to figure out everything on your own. No spoken dialogue, no prompts. I see people who are trashing the combat. Yeah, it's no Call of Duty, sorry guys. Your character is slow to aim and slow to reload. Ammo and health are sparse. Still, the combat is serviceable, in my opinion. After all, it's not the main focus of this game.

Is the game perfect? Probably not. But it is worthwhile? Yes. At the very least, it got me to write a review, something which can't be said for most of the games I play. The pacing suffers a little bit at times, but it is a short game, so it's not a huge issue. There is no map or any mechanism which shows you where to go and what to do. In the age of objective markers, Witcher Senses and Ubisoft towers, this can be considered a bad thing. You may get lost sometimes. You will be unsure how to progress sometimes. If you welcome this kind of challenge, then this game is for you.

On the technical side of things:

  • Not too graphically demanding. Any gamer with a decent gaming PC will easily max out the settings without second thoughts. It's probably the only game where I enabled blur on a high-refresh monitor because it was done well and made the game look better when looking around. It added to the atmosphere. I think it could benefit greatly from some ray-tracing for even more dread, but there is no support for it. A lost opportunity, in my opinion. As with many UE games, there is MINOR shader compilation stutter when you enter new areas for the first time. (I put the emphasis on "minor" because I played The Callisto Protocol right before Scorn, lol). An untrained eye might not even notice them in this game.
  • The sound is very good without resorting to horror genre clichés. There is not a lot of music, but it's quite effective when it's there. The sound effects can be very disturbing at times.
  • The controls are nothing to write home about, they just do the job. Nothing too fancy. As Comrade Dyatlov would say: Not great, not terrible.
  • The plot is... gut-wrenching. I won't spoil it further.

tl;dr: I recommend Scorn, if your cup of tea is a unique game with lots of gore and disturbing imagery. It's rather short and slow-paced, but worth your attention. If you're interested, get it on sale.

To me, this is one of the best games I've ever played. Like many others, I return to it every few years, because someone mentions it. It is timeless, atmospheric, not too long. The writing is great. The hub worlds are tiny, so everything important and fun is clustered together. No huge world to traverse, no padding, no tedium. Just pure fun, plain and simple.

IMPORTANT NOTE: This game is a diamond in the rough. You must absolutely find and download the Unofficial Patch. You may also try HD texture packs and maybe ENB mods if you would like to update/alter the way it looks. Don't go too crazy with the mods though, or the game might end up crashing.

The game is awesome. We're talking very heavy 2001: A Space Odyssey vibes. After having played Stories Untold, I knew I would like this one as well. It's short and sweet, even if it can be quite disorienting at times, but that's outer space for you! Story-wise, the game is very interesting and gameplay-wise, it's stellar (pun intended), because it's very unique and actually refreshing to see.

Unfortunately, all of the above comes with a grain of salt; although I've seen reports of the game crashing, it never crashed for me (I do have a capable rig, though). It did, however, change the game resolution every time I launched it or paused it or accessed the options menu. The solution is simple: Google "Observation ultrawide workaround", downoad the patch, apply it correctly, follow the instructions, set the resolution every time you launch it and don't pause it. 99% of the time you won't need to pause it anyway.

No Code is a very promising horror game developer. I can't wait to see what Silent Hill: Townfall will offer! Also, if you like this game, make sure you try their first work as well, "Stories Untold". This one isn't plauged by technical issues, all the better for it!

It's Portal with full ray tracing (path tracing, a very complex algorithm which pretty much has to calculate EVERY light source, shadow and reflection on every single surface). Yes, it's a look into the future. Yes, it's resource-intensive. Playing on a Ryzen 5 5600X with 32 GB of RAM and an RTX 3060 Ti, the game is a slideshow if you are trying to render natively at 1080p. But just press Alt+X, turn on DLSS to Custom, choose Balanced and then it runs very smoothly and the photorealism is glorious. Don't bother changing the original game advanced graphics options, as this may lead to crashes. Use Alt+X to change the new RT settings instead.

Yes, I recommend it, it's free, for crying out loud. And the ray tracing results are insanely good at times.

Easy, dirt cheap, aesthetics... What more can you ask for?

If you like endless runners with no turns and only traffic to avoid, this game is for you. The stages are beautiful, the controls are as simple as possible and the soundtrack delivers!

Absolutely fantastic through and through. It was well worth the wait. This game absolutely deserves Labor of Love 2020.

This is a surprisingly deep game. It might look simple on the surface, but the interesting story, the voice acting, the puzzles that are grounded in logic (for the most part), the music and the setting kept me coming back for more. It is actually hard to put down once you get involved in the story (which I don't want to spoil). Let's just say you are a janitor who finds out a little too much about some sort of conspiracy and you quickly end up in way over your head.

It's a short little point-and-click adventure game that's well worth it, especially on sale. At the time of this review, it is actually 90% off, which is a steal.
