The game uses poorly-generated AI art for the in-game characters. It is also locked at 60 FPS, which may not sound like too big of a deal for a colony sim game, and you'd be right. But it's still nice to have access to more FPS, as it just makes everything smoother. I played on a 4K 240Hz monitor, and one thing I noticed is that the GUI elements are kind of low res, which is unfortunate. The anti-aliasing is also pretty horrendous, and the models are pretty low quality too. I totally get having an art style, and I love art styles, but think of Astroneer and how clean that game is. This is not on that level. The game definitely needs more settings. Specifically to do with graphics. I bring these things up because they make the experience slightly less crisp, which kind of sucks for a game that seems to be designed to be clean and relaxing.

In terms of game-play, it's too easy. There really aren't many complex concepts or anything which makes the game challenging. You simply get resources in order to get other resources with no compromise. It's just kind of boring. I also received a quest telling me that an asteroid had crashed and that I had to salvage the remnants. However, I COULDN'T FIND THE ASTEROID. It was no where to be seen. I refunded the game soon after to get my £5 back; But I'm pretty sure that was a soft-lock. Overall, I strongly advice against wasting any amount of money on this game.

Good game. The building system is extremely unique and fun. While resource collection for building can be quite tedious, it still feels rewarding. This is especially helped by the fact that from the very start of the game, you get an NPC that you can command to fetch whatever you'd like. The combat is fun, yet challenging, and while enemies are kind of tanks that do take a lot of damage to fall, it still feels good and the looting feels fair. The game has beautiful graphics, such as volumetric snow which really gives the winter season some realism. There are tons of cool little details in SOTF; such as procedural tree chopping, your tools being cleansed of blood once entering a water source, and sprinklers dowsing bunkers in water if you try to build a fire in one, among many others. It's a really cool game and much better with friends (as with most things). Highly recommend.

The grid-less building system is so fluid. The game is a little expensive for what it is, but it's a really cool showcase game that you can definitely get enjoyment from after a long day. Could use with more decorations, as the range is pretty small, but some items change dynamically depending on their position, so there are more variants than first meet the eye.

Super fun game. Make sure you bring friends, as playing with them makes this game 10x better. If someone gets snatched by one of the various creatures you'll encounter in the bunker their scream will cut off due to proximity chat, e.g. "I found a v-type engi- ahhhh-" *dies*. Honestly such a good time with the boys. Highly recommend.

My new favourite game. So emotional, the story is so rewarding, the combat is so unique and fun 10/10 game. I believe it received hate from it's unfortunate release, but however the game was back then it's no longer in that state, I encountered almost no game breaking bugs (and the one rather minor one I did find is easily fixable) TLDR: Totally worth it, amazing game.

Incredible game. One of the most OG games on steam if you havent already played it i really recommend it. You can play solo or play with a friend on co-op. (I received the game from my friend however i also checked out the pricing and frankly i think they should charge more)
