Yeah nah, this is the GOTY

Ambiance, rhythm, visuals. Everything in this game is materfully handcrafted.
The game is incredibly immersive, cooperation is natural, bugs are minimal and rarely impacting gameplay. Mouse and keyboard in hands, the game feels like what it is presenting : a group of four brainwashed troopers figthing against all odds waves of dreadfull enemy forces that will tear them to shred on the first occasion.
I especialy like the voices you can pick for your helldiver that are neither badass, neither tough; your helldiver is a commoner and sounds like one, he got a training and a gun, somehow survived and is now sent in literal hell to fight for his tyranical government he believes in. And when getting his gutts devoured by a bug, or his legs being sawed by a killer robot, they WILL scream like a pour soul getting shred. You're no hero, you're a number serving a greater authority that is over your head and you will die for it.

And the best is, it is incredibly credible because everything in this game is build upon immersing you in this exact situation.

More than 6 months already, no big changes. It just ain't happening.

I bought the season pass for cheap on Instant Gaming and even with that I still feel scammed.

This game combines absolutely all the abusive monetization system that you will find in any other games :

Lootbox gambling with unlikely chances, very slow grind, premium money with changes that forces you to always buy more than the actual price of the item you wish to buy, premium accounts that accelerates your progression and even with that, we still have season passes because why not adding FOMO on top of an extremely artificaly time consuming game ?

All of the items that allows you to speed up your grind like boosters have an expiration date, which means you cannot pile them up. Same with reduction coupons. Premium vehicles that for the most part have a unique gameplay or simply holds better than the free tree vehicles. And even if this is a video game, which means that every item is simply a line of code, there are vehicles out there with limited supply amounts that you need to buy for another online currency on an auction house with absolutely crazy prices like the IS-7 which is on sales for 1950 Gainjin coins. You don't know how much this is in terms of actual, real-life money ? That's the point of premium currencies. There should be laws against these practices.

The game simply puts all the efforts to stop or slow you from obtaining and keeping any type of virtual possesion. Even World of Tanks would have some events here and there to easily get cheap premium for free that allows you to ease your time on the game. I cannot believe I have to say that World of Tanks, in some ways, is better than War Thunder even if both games are the absolute devil in person.

On top of that, the game just feels like a glorified vertical slice from a bigger game that won't be, with very inconsistant and fondamentaly incoherent gameplay. Having a suposedly simulation game run on short 10-15 minutes matches makes no sense at all. World of Tanks could be accused of many things, but its gameplay made sense with the game offering, AKA a competitve game. In that regard, War Thunder is terrible. The game does not communicate prime and important information such as the number of players still alive per team. Whenever a friendly tank is engaging an hostile, I need to look at the killfeed to know who won. When an enemy tank gets shot and killed, its flickering incon appears on the map just like it was still alive and only after a couple of second, it will leave a transparent icon that disappears after a while. This is such a poor way of communicaiton, and World of Tanks is better on all points in that department.

War Thunder sells itself like a simulation like I said, but it also tries to be somewhat competitve. The very principe of a simulation is to be accurate to the real life counterparts. From this point, you cannot have a balanced game, because adjusting vehicle's stats or abilities for balancing would make it innacurate from the real world. ArmA3 does that, the game is unbalanced. But ArmA is not a game where the goal is necessarly to win. ArmA is not competitive, it is a sandbox therefore the unbalance is not an issue or a laziness, it just makes sense with the setting.

Not to mention the other under-developped modes the games has. Surprisingly, War Thunder has PvE, but it is absolute garbage. It also have some campaigns and solo mission with rewards so terrible it is such a waste of time. Most of them are not even playable, as you will have a game over for seemingly no reason while flying towards the very first objective.

Yes, the game is sometimes satifying and fun, but it comes at the end of a long road of boredome and frustration. Games can have grind and be satisfying and fun without being frustating, simply look at Destiny.

Another case of greedy devs really only making bad decisions to piss off the majority of the honest community.
