(Disclaimer... I've yet to finish the prologue)
Its not like your other Total War series games. I was cautious going in as I didn't want to have to think too hard every time I look at a unit and have to remember what they are and what they do. Is it the purple or blue demons that vomit magic? Do the tentacles mean they are anti-infantry or weak against armour? Is a warg squad the same as a chaos knight detachment? Either way, I took the plunge on TW:WIII. The game is dragging, limp and yet to engage me. The prospect of loading it up to finish the damn prologue feels like work. Ultimately I just end up playing something else. I'd happily sink more hours into Shogun 2, or Rome. Or just give me a Medieval Total War reboot!
Tell me, does it get better?

165 hours in and only just scratching the surface. Lots of mod support out there too that make it much more playable than the vanilla without cheezing the game or making it easy. Its like the original top down fallout games mixed with heavy helpings of Samurai movies set in a post-apocalyptic version of blade runner. Real-time RPG with base building and limb loss (Just replace it with robotics!)

If you can overlook the graphics and bugs then this could be a real diamond in the rough. Looking forward to see what Kenshi 2 offers.

Great RTS game from a great legacy. The addition of the Japanese and George Takei was a genius idea. Better implimented than the Scrin in C&C: Tiberium Wars.

Terrible terrible terrible! What was promised to be the next level, next gen, advancement of the X series seems like 10 steps backwards! The game does not function well. All of the X games were buggy but this is unplayable! In stead of a smoothly polished new edition of the X franchise, we have recieved a game that has introduced flawed and worthless mechanics and overhauled the GUI / HUD with a pathetic menu system that is no where near as useful as the previous version. Flying your ships is completely different too. I loved every game and was very excited to buy this one, but I am so dissapointed and can't bring myself to continue to play as its just awful.

At the very least you should be able to revert the system back to the method of the previous X games, with the old menu and old view and controls. Now you have a crappy looking cockpit and useless docking system and even more pointless 'off-ship exploration' (which looks like starwars KOTOR style). Everything has been made 10x worse with the new 'improvements'. minus maybe the background scenes. This is a massive facepalm for the company and they should have stuck with the old method, everybody loved it and it worked! Please please please save your money and don't buy this... OR buy the older X games such as X 3, or Albion Prelude.

The original PAYDAY title was a lot of co-op fun but ultimately you got bored of the same repetitive jobs time after time and lost interest in leveling up to get whatever perk or weapon.

PAYDAY 2 has recognised this and is a much more indepth game than the previous title. A lot of work has been put into the inventory, skills and mask system so you can choose your path a little easier than it was in the first game. Heists have also been randomized so you can just keep taking the same path as last time. Doors, cameras, guards, safes, police, obstacles... it all changes per map, and add in some unique events every so often and jobs that can span multiple days, and you have a much more dynamic environment.

A lot of the game has been reworked but underneath it's still the bank robbing game we love and given the franchise a second chance. I still think the map list (although more expansive and dynamic) is still a little limited, but if it goes on sale then maybe you should give it a go.

**Short Review**

I can not stay away from playing this game. Its fun... strategic, base-building, tech-tree, alien weapon stealing, UFO intercepting fun. BUY THIS GAME! It was recently on sale for $1, so if you don't already own it, you missed out on that.

**Should I buy the DLC?** Enemy Unknown really revolutionises the gameplay and adds features, units, tech, enemies and a new storyline/locations. It is a DLC I Can actually get on board with. YES, get the DLC.

**Long Review / Why you need to play this game **

I keep re-installing this game and coming right back to it, time after time. I can't reccomend this game enough. Sure it could be improved and there are features I'd like to see, such as weapon customisation, better AI, more scope in base building, multiple bases, more control over interception and so on, but as it is, this game really provides so much of the strategy I crave.

Love this game. One of the few games I can play over and over again and do it differently every time. I must have completed it about 6 or 7 times now and expect to play it again in the future. This is a turn-based-strategy and base/resource managing game. You start the game outgunned and outmatched but even the playing field by stealing and implimenting alien tech in your squad of international soldiers.

It may not live up to the amazing original game, but it is a reboot that I dont wan't to discard instantly, throw to tigers, disolve in acid, toss off a bridge and incinerate.... (like so many out there... LOOKING AT YOU JA: FLASHBACK!). I think it pays good homage to the series. I would like to see a terror from the deep reboot by the same studio.
