I agree with a lot of the other reviewers that this game can feel pretty slow with progression feeling minimal between increasingly more difficult rounds. Also the second boss of delve mode is a CHORE (or if it's not a hardcoded spawn, I'm talking about the red wizard thing), constantly floating around and shooting on top of a big AOE attack and constant enemy spawning. Tanky as hell too.
I can't speak for other difficulties besides normal (if there are any, like hell I need this game more difficult) but this game is BRUTAL regardless. You don't get a lot of breathing room, healing is something you need to fight for and it doesn't heal you more than one attack for each chicken, and some of these burdens are objectively way harder than others.
Seeing a lot of burden, not a lot of boon.

BUT... I do still recommend this game. People play things like Isaac and Dark Souls all the time, the difficulty isn't the problem, because the enemies themselves aren't bad to deal with. The bosses can be manageable, but need to stop having so much ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ thrown out 24/7, just calm down a bit, they're doing fine without the constant minions and such. It's still pretty fun trying to make the most out of your squishy little wizard, though, and while I've got a laundry list of QoL changes that would probably make the game better (at least for me) there's something HERE and I like it.

Biggest improvement for this game would be making rings a bit cheaper (random drop chance for the orbs to unlock them is no fun), and generally making upgrading a bit faster. Or you could just throw in a dash to every mage, which is something I feel this game is missing in such a small arena with so many enemies.

Honestly as a roguelike (or roguelite, whatever you wanna call it) this game doesn't hold a candle to most games in the genre. Combat can be pretty clunky, and some enemies blend into the background of the arena. To top it off, some obstacles are not active as soon as the room loads (specifically the fire ball things) and I have been hit by them unduly as a result, since if you're on the move it's hard to notice the spawners by themselves. Additionally, sometimes enemy spawns are quite frankly ridiculous when compared to the room they're in. Overall the roguelike sections of the game are not fun for me at all, and maybe that's to taste, but when half of the game is built on these expeditions I wish there was a bit more QoL. Although I guess if you don't play this genre a lot this issues wouldn't be as obvious.
The other half of the game is very fun and all the mechanics work together great, complimented by the games art direction and music, but I don't want to have to do horrible dungeon crawls just to experience it.
Cult of the Lamb is really a management sim with a roguelike tacked onto it.

Tl;Dr: came for the cult management, left because of roguelike
Only really playing anymore to get 100%.

Fun game for a few hours. Very punchy feeling attacks, and you can create some really fun builds using the different classes and cards. Just enough variety for there to actually be viable different viable builds, but not a lot. There's 65 weapons (some of which are shields), and about 130 cards (including 10 different negative status cards) to play with.
It's pretty short, but replayable enough. Don't go in expecting something drawn out.

I mean, I don't dislike it or anything, I guess (in it's current state) it's just not what I was really looking for. A little bit slow when doing certain interactions, some finicky controls/camera movements, but what I really think bites me is I just don't find a reason to keep doing the jobs.
I'd say the gameplay loop reminds me a lot of PC Builder Simulator, if you know anything about that. You take jobs, repair/modify the guns you get on those jobs, and also have the option to bid on auctions to get your own personal guns to build up a sort of personalized collection. If that's what you're looking for, then buy this.
But the essence that I wanted, that of really just taking apart a gun and learning how it works and how to fix it, just wasn't there.
That's my personal ideal, however, and if you want something that's more like "I want to take apart a gun down to the screws as fast as I can", go play World of Guns. It's free, and you can unlock most of the guns by playing (or pay if you're lazy).

This game is real ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ good for only 5 dollars. Absolutely excellent work by the dev team - the art/music is top notch and the gameplay is pretty addicting.
