I love this game, it's great. Arrowhead has done a great job with it!
However; recently SONY and their money grubbing console peasants have ruined this game with their backwards, greedy, bureaucratic BS.

SONY TRIED to do the following:

1: Was caught lying on their own TOS, and changing the wording to deny service to people outside the US. Something I would sue SONY for, imo.

2: Was caught trying to censor the bad press over this.

3: Despite not owning Arrowhead Studios, has gone over the head of the developers in what looks like an intentional play from SONY to try and harm the reputation of this game which has shown how a Live Service model should be run.

I will be intentionally KOS any PS diver I see as SONY shills are bad for any game! And, this has literally proven it. I'm disappointed in anyone who's ever supported the SONY and Playstation consoles ever as this has proved that it's wrong to reward the bad behavior of people like SONY - people and players who intentionally sabotage and ruin good things out of their corporate greed.

I love Arrowhead. I always have.
I think what SONY has done to them, their game, and their company is wrong.
For Democracy!~ For Freedom!~

_ _

And, update:

Now that the SONY console children have lost and been put in their place; I can now go back to openly recommending this game. I am glad that reality, truth, and justice prevailed and I'm glad to see that I will not have to bend over to the tyrannical, greedy, corporate, overlords who are doing so bad in their console war that they need us PC players to sign up for a PSN account.

I love democracy! And, those dirty commies at SONY, same goes for those console loving SONY Fanponys have lost due to the power of freedom, liberty, and democracy!
Glory to Arrowhead!
Down with SONY!

I was promised a Old West Steampunk Gunplay

My FIRST playthrough:

Difficulty: Hard
Aim Assist: Off (Manual Aim)
Camera Tracking: Off

I can aim my gun. I am clearly not the target demographic. If I wanted to be "Donkey Kong," and punch things with my fist, then maybe I would be.
There is literally no difficulty to this game.

Gunplay is balanced around ammunition, reloading, and damage output versus damage taken.
Maybe I'm just too gamer for this game's target audience, but I can literally just circle strafe everything, headshotting everything because it walks in a straight line right at you, while you have infinite ammo, and your guns are literally not even really properly reloaded.
It's a cooldown.

What even is this? A toddler could play this game on it's hardest difficulty.
Refunded and uninstalled for being literal monkey garbage. I was expecting a 3rd person shooter with close combat being a style choice. Not a punch everything, with literal, no risk gunplay that makes anyone with a brain, capable of shooting - making this game, trivial.

Kite enemy. Shoot with any degree of accuracy or competency. Profit.
Why? Just why?

To be fair, I should have realized this game was for toddlers when it had an auto aim feature as a setting. This is 2023. Devs, you should know better than to make a 3rd person shooter, this . . . there's no polite word for ijiotic.

Pros and Cons:
Pros:
  • Intuitive if you have the time and/ or patience to get to grips with All the elements of play
  • Combat is Solid, and with a very deep element once you come to terms with PVP is PVE.
  • Engineering offers a great base for customization and tailoring
  • the best salt farming this side of Sag-A
Cons:
  • It can be tough if the player does not sort out controls, nor has the patience to learn how to use Flight Assist Off
  • Very much a Space Simulation & Combat Game. Everything matters, and it is hard for some to accept this fact.
  • Stats and use of weapons are not easily evident, which can make scrubs or casuals frustrated.

Summary:
High Skill for mastering the Game, very Low Skill to enter - (With) a lot of Room to improve and/ or "make yourself" in game.

While the game is easy to pick up if you have familiarity, the depth is hard to see at a glance. And, the game only really opens up to the player when they learn about BGS, Powerplay, and PVP. (In addition to the Flight Assist Off mechanics.)

However, if you are able to get past the higher skill "gate" to the main game - you will enjoy it!.

Secondary Cons:
Getting doxxed by the community for being too good isn't fun. And, that's something of a past time of there's. In fact, (one of the forum overseers was completely banned from steam for doing that to me after I was brigaded by Zantar and his friends.)
CMDR Zantar, CMDR The Replicated Man, CMDR Harry Potter, CMDR Jazod (guess he's Jajod now after his perma ban,) CMDR Nishimura, and CMDR Yamato 2012 are among some of the worst.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2Cjp3q0tgrA

https://youtu.be/nVHRMDmjRZw

https://youtu.be/kUZ9QWabF6U

Good thing most have been completely banned from the game in some form or another. Though, you may run into alternates from Yamato, Captin Pelley, Jajod, Nishimura, Maztek, or Replicant as they are so obsessed with the game that they refuse to accept their bans and move on.
I would recommend blocking them as they all use : Elite Not So Dangerous to cheat the client or combat log.

The Game is fun and engaging, with a lot of opportunities, should you choose to embrace every element, and the 'Risk versus Reward' system of the game.

After Fdev abandoned this product and, after their new content update, I would not really recommend this game anymore. It's become a buggy mess with banned exploiters, combat loggers, aim bot hackers, and developer banned players doxxing anyone who beats them in PvP.

I've always loved Mass Effect. All 3 titles, regardless of the controversy of Mass Effect 3. They serve by far and large as some of the most nostalgic game titles I have played through outside of the Legend of Zelda, or the Armored Core series from, From Software.

Legendary Edition is a great addition. The updates to the graphics feel pretty on point, and are an extremely welcome change! For someone who enjoyed the gameplay back when I was nothing more than a console pleb (young and impressionable, I know,) I loved being able to do playthroughs on insanity - and Legendary Edition has brought my nostalgic love for this series (and Liara,) back in a way that I don't think a ported remake has done in quite some time!

I've done some live streams with Mass Effect, and if you're ever wanting to check out my runs in Insanity difficulty, check Twitch here: FalterXV [www.twitch.tv]

Scharnhorst and Zed 46 aren't here, but, you get Eugen and Roon!

That's basically where my own personal negatives about this game stop.
Granted, I haven't put as much time into this game as I should, and I probably will edit my review when I actually do, but, until then I'll leave some notes in my positive review here.

Game's solid and the graphics are on point. I mostly come from the background of playing normal Azur Lane on my phone or bluestacks - and, the graphics and gameplay are just...
"mwuah".
Everything that you sometimes wish normal Azur Lane had.

That being said. . .
I do miss a large portion of my Ironblood fleet that isn't present in this game.
And while that's my own personal bias, there is something to be said about the large denomination of primarily Sakura Empire, Eagle Union, and Royal Navy bias in the current game lineup.

You won't run into too much toxicity. Most I do is from this guy named Jack / Layvian who loves to seethe and cope at me on a regular basis after he thought censoring me because he's angry he's a sore loser would, idk, "teach me a lesson," or something?
Guy needs to touch grass. Especially if you see how he reviews DLC.

Yeah...who reviews DLC?
Regardless.

Game's good, and I'd give it a solid 10 out of Good, if not for the fact that Scharnhorst, Prinz Heinrich, Zed 46, Graf Zeppelin, and Odin are not part of the game's main lineup.
So, for now, until we see Ironblood domination:

6 out of 10

A good addition to the Monster Hunter series on PC; However!

Monster Hunter Rise is a great game, don't misunderstand me. It's often the games you enjoy or love the most that you often wish could be or would be better versions of themselves.
At a glance, Monster Hunter Rise does a great job at streamlining the game for newer players, and fixing some of the not so intuitive mechanics for some quality of life that Monster Hunter World suffered from a bit. But, it's overshadowed by buggy monster fights, re-used assets, an incomplete Vanilla base game that doesn't hold up to the content in World, gimmicks that are used to hide the flaws the game has, hitboxes that extend beyond Monster Geometry, and a community with the average age demographic of 15 and "emboldened by a Nintendo product."

However, there is a lot that can be said about how happy I am to see some of the major problematic issues in MHW fixed with quality of life in MHR. But, even with that being said, I do have some major complaints that are more personal here.
Complaints that may deter some players from playing this game.

Cons
  • The game's graphics are something that is not up to snuff (par) with current generations of games. Even by console peasant standards. This game has a lot of the menus and options that Monster Hunter World did, (especially in the customization areas,) but it's all overshadowed by the fact that this game can not in any way look like a modern game

  • While a lot of veteran monster hunter world players may defend that "This is how all the other monster hunter's looked," what they are missing is that 'this is how all the other monster hunter world game's looked before the modern one of Monster Hunter World as they were all made on either hand hold consoles or older consoles like the PS2 which could NOT do what this game was trying to do at all due to hardware limitations.

Capcom deciding to give Nintendo this series again as a main, "Switch" based game was a massive mistake. And, it is very, very evident in how bad the game looks. I can cite any other game port that can do graphics 2x better than this from Capcom. This is a major, major oversight, and unfortunate reality of Monster Hunter Rise.

  • 3 steps forward for quality of life and game mechanics (though. 19 hours in I have yet to faint once and have yet to see the difficulty that MHW presented me.), but, 7 steps backwards in game presentation. Upon completion of this game, all the way past Allmother, and Valstrax, I have fainted a total of 5 times across 350 hunts. Most of my early game fights only boiled down to me literally not putting 1 or 2 armor levels into my low rank gear while I was fighting high rank or Apex monsters.
(Apex being this game's version of Tempered Monsters, with less flair and less reward.)

  • English VA is cringy to the point I want to tear my ears out. Play the game in Japanese.

  • The community has become oversaturated with console peasents too blinded by reality to critically analyze the state of this game, and the quality of it. The game died on release, and within a month of launch has a smaller niche player base than World.

  • There's nowhere near as much content in Rise as there is in World. The game will at most, keep you engaged for about 15 hours. Past that point, the game's loop of 5 minute monster hunts will end up repeating itself ad nauseum.

The optimization is also a bit bad (as you need to go INTO the game and pass a few cut scenes to even get access to the advanced graphics menu. Yeah. Who designed that!? No modern game does this!), but, can easily be overlooked as simply "this is what console peasants choose to deal with and saturate our market with. Pity them that they continue to make us have to play terrible looking games. Even when "ported."

Monster Hunter Rise deserved better than to be a "first" as a console peasant dream land type game. It would have been so much more better to have been made for PC where the game can actually handle the modern graphics that this game's own mechanics seem to be geared for.

A shame, but a bearable one.

3 out of 10.
Sucky console peasants ruining my game immersion again.
(And, why don't I get all of the same options for editing my character like I did in World?)

I play a lot of MH Rise on Twitch and if you're ever interested in checking out my live broadcasts, feel free to tune in to some HBG smackdowns here: FalterXV [www.twitch.tv]

(Ok, as a preface I'm reviewing NMS as an Ex-Elite Dangerous player. So, my POV will be comparing NMS to E:D.)

The Meat and Potatoes
No Man's Sky has made some major leaps, bounds, and massive gains since it's first day of launch. Hello Games has set out to make a beautiful game, and they have delivered. Despite all the controversy, this game is just, well, in one word:

Perfect!

It is everything I wanted in Elite and more, minus the toxic community that doxxed me in real life.
(As that is a major problem with Elite Dangerous players and their community.)
I first picked up NMS back in, I think it was 2019 and was still tentative then to give it an honest playthrough to experience what it had to offer. And, after putting FAR too much time in the past month or so than I care to admit to, I can say beyond a shadow of a doubt, that I highly recommend this game to anyone looking for the "choose your own adventure in an open world, Space Game, experience."

You won't find narcissistic commanders like : R E P L I C A N T (the Replicated Man,) Zantar, twice banned Jajod (Jazod as he used to be known,) Nishimura, or CMDR Harry Potter (Chamber,) or any of those others who are part of CIVDS 2004434. And, you certainly won't find a community so eager to doxx you in your real life, harass you and your family, or cyber stalk and bully you across multiple platforms and games in the way that the community in Elite Dangerous does. I'm honestly glad that most of those perma-banned players from that community haven't taken the time to try this gem of a game. Instead they flocked to World of Warships to try their stalking and harassing behavior their, only to end up banned as well. (Shocking, I know!)

I'll never understand Frontier's Community model on trying to harass and bully their good players into retirement. Oh well, suffice to say that I would be more willing to sink 5000+ hours into NMS than E:D.

No Man's Sky has set out to be an open world, procedural generated game, and, unlike Frontier Developments - Hello Games delivered on that promise. Their honest commitment to this product has shown, and despite their failed launch, the game as it is now, is well worth the 25 bucks or so on the Steam Store! Tons of free updates, decent PVP, decent flight models, and fun exploration set this game as a gold standard above the rest right now.
And! Despite being an EU company, it is extremely refreshing to see that at least some citizenry there can still implement growth and honest mindsets. A real 'hat's off' to Hello Games for fixing the issues and their game to deliver us this wonderful adventure that is full of life, beauty, mystery, and just plain fun!

A real 66 out of 10.

I would highly recommend this game if you're a fan of space adventure, sci fi, and choose your own story kind of games. It's the perfect game for a quiet and relaxing day in.

I Regret Nothing!

Pros : Anime Waifus, Anime Waifus, and...oh, did I forget to mention? ANIME WAIFUS!
Cons : What cons? Boiya, if you're here, you're already looking for some Anime Waifu action!
(In all seriousness though, the patch installation is a bit roundabout and confusing. If you have serious questions, check the discord.)

You get to lewd your waifus. What more is there to say?
If you're here, you too are a fine specimen of culture and exquisite taste.

Pro gamer move:

1: Introduce Koikatsu to your girlfriend cuz you're both into anime
2: Show her how to make her own husbandos and buy her a copy
3: Patch it for her
4: Win / Win and lewd together

A real 10 out of Gud.
I would highly recommend to anyone who is hoping to waste some "time" in a more "productive" way.
