Honestly just complete all the portal modes with original maps and loadouts, add realistic skins. 1942 is a honest blast from the past. just skip on playing the 2042 ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ and go into portal from the get go. Ps. why would you think this whole specialist ♥♥♥♥ is a good idea? probably 80% of your playerbase feels feels more alienated by them that your actually being inclusive. just give us a complete custom player character if your gonna go that route. also piss poor weapon selection nothing imaginative, nothing ''new'' half your ''hardware'' is already phased out or has actual modern replacements, so use that. 4/10

Now where to start with this game, i'm on the edge to recommend it since it is on the first glance a straight up Call to Arms game or people even call it a mod at this point. the units are wonderfully designed and units look good with a grain of salt. the unit composition isnt large or near Men of War Assault squad 2. feels like re skinned from the Vietnam titles in the series
however this one is set in 50's - 60's wich might've been an intresting scenario for a post ww2 ravaged Europe with infighting between communist forces and the west.

Speaking of, the Campaign is just a shell of previous titles were we have a vast choice of units and theaters/ factions to play through. the campaign is a mix of skirmish maps rather small until you get your amount of victories wich presumably goes into a straight victory then ends. i have only done a few ''missions'' where the AI is relieng on their own mostly just rushes your cap point with all it can without any tactics or advanced AI.

The gameplay is bare, infantry features are left untouched and ''intact'' now the armed section is overhauled into a ''health'' bar system without much use or impact on the underlying successfull damage/penetration/angle style in the previous titles
wich makes tanks feel a bit like damage sponges and are able to take a dozen of hits. the helicopters are implemented like they were in the ''Vietnam title they are above your zooming range and don't properly function in the current camera mode. They can also take dozens of tanks rounds without even having a scratch. That wont do...

There is a lack of Static units and defensive structures, wich presumably will be irrelevant anyway because there are no defense/ attack missions. in multiplayer buggy direct control is rampant and ping is a real issue atm. will be fixed soon i imagine. the UI is straight up Call to Arms, nothing new for the rest of the UI same old structure for everything is used.

Sad to say my verdict for this game is below call to arms in terms of innovation and execution it's a tad better in that aspect. I really really hope to see some future scripted missions A'la MOWAS 2. its sad atm i hope this does not fade in obscurity like any previous titles i still have hope for this in the future, the ground work is definately there, a fun setting. just badly paced execution.
