Downsides:
Bots are still just as bad as L4D.
Lots to learn about cards and takes a while to unlock all of the cards required for specific decks.
Sometimes the RNG messes you up, (Super bad corruption cards making it more difficult)
Sometimes zombies will spawn behind you, in an area which you've just cleared of zombies.
The characters have a lot less personality than L4D characters. (<3 you Ellis)

Upsides:
The card system is a really good system, it gives you a lot of variety in what build you can go and a ton of replayability.
All of the characters give differing buffs allowing you to have even more variety in how a build can go. (e.g. Holly is great for melee builds due to her getting 10 stamina back per zombie kill and 10% damage resistance)
There's lots of levels with more coming at some point in the future in the form of DLC's.
The campaign has 3 difficulties, (Recruit, Veteran, Nightmare).
Each difficulty is drastically different than the others.
Recruit is your Normal difficulty.
Veteran is Hard and you'll need a coordinated team to get through it.
Nightmare is a bloody nightmare (0.3% of players have completed Act 1 of nightmare), where you'll need an experienced team with great coordination, great knowledge of the maps, enemy types, and good build variety, e.g. 1 healer, 1 crowd control (melee or shotgun), 1 pure DPS, 1 scavenger.

Overall, I love this game, it may not be L4D3, but I believe that it does the franchise justice as a spiritual successor. If you don't like certain aspects of this game, go back and play L4D2, which is still an amazing game.

Don't go into it expecting L4D3 and you'll enjoy it.
Love it for what it is, not for what it isn't.
