My 4 year old son loves this game.
There is a "playground" mode that unlocks all areas/trucks.

A beautifully animated walking simulator without any actual gameplay. Approximately 80-90% of the "gameplay" consists of walking. I had hoped it would get better given the great reviews, but it does not.

I only paid $2 and I still regret not refunding this.

PROS:
-Gorgeous animation
-Peaceful soundtrack

NEUTRALS:
-Character moves a bit slow especially considering the only thing you do is walk

CONS:
-Not a game. All you do is walk.
-No actual game mechanics besides turning to a stone.
-No plot. There are a few very vague scenes where you see a statue or something equally pointless. I think the game is trying to tell a story, but there is just nothing there. Why is color gone? Why is it returning? Honestly, who cares?
-No level design
-No platforming elements
-No map / unclear where to go at times

A disappointing, unbalanced mess of a sequel with serious control problems and poor level design.

PROS:
-Art style
-Underlying combat and movement system is fundamentally good but expect to be frustrated because moves simply won't register correctly.

NEUTRALS:

CONS:
-Poor level design. Although on the surface it looks like a typical metroidvania map, in reality every single area has the exact same linear design with branching bonus rooms and a shortcut path.
-Awful knockback when hit mechanic. By itself its not terrible, but many of the enemies (particularly the ones with purple attacks that you cannot sidestep) have their attack animation timing coincide with your knockdown timing, which means.....
-Chain hit/stun. Some instances one enemy will hit you and the invul timer is shorter/same as the time it takes you to get back up....meaning the second you get up, you just get hit again.....which means you get knocked down again.......you're familiar with this type of garbage chain stun hits. This is particularly prevalent on Hard mode (I never played normal).
-Clunky Controls. I can't count how many times I jumped towards an enemy and did a neutral special only for the game to register side special. Single hop down+special is practically impossible (it simply won't register). Doing a wall run immediately after hitting the wall has a strange timing - if you get it right you can do it really fast, but if you miss it, the game simply ignores the inputs for ~1 second before he starts running. There are no audio or visual cues to tell you that.
-Terrible balance. Final boss is the easiest boss of the game. The "true ending" challenge rooms are disproportionately harder than the rest of the game and one of them has no checkpoints.
-Hard Mode was a complete afterthought.
-There are several combat rooms that are so small / overcrowded that there is almost no room to move. As a result, you have to memorize the enemy spawn patterns and kill them as they spawn or else it is literally impossible to win because there is nowhere to move.
-Several of the upgrades are literally just "+damage" to a move. These types of upgrades add nothing and are extremely lazy.
-UNSKIPPABLE cutscenes/dialog.

A beautiful, unique, but terribly boring puzzle game.

PROS:
-Unique puzzle mechanic
-Great art

CONS:
-Terribly boring, almost nonexistant gameplay
-No tutorial or introduction of any kind; the game just throws you into the first puzzle with the slightest explanation of what you are supposed to do or what the game mechanics are. They are not intuitive.
-If you don't see the solution right away, the game will quickly devolve into random clicking.

A beautiful roguelite with good controls hampered by awful design decisions and repetitive combat.

PROS:
-Art
-Combat controls

NEUTRALS:
-Not really a metroidvania. The entire world is randomized and resets each time you die. Its a roguelite.

CONS:
-"Swarm" combat is very repetitive and uninspired. More random generated garbage.
-Off-screen enemies snipe you constantly (combined with...)
-Limited dodge roll means you're constantly out of stamina
-Very grindy "bigger numbers" skill tree for no reason ("skills" are just +health, +armor, +dmg)

A simple action game with poor pacing and good boss fights that is not the metroidvania it pretends to be - but it is fun.
Recommend for $5.

PROS:
-Basic polished action controls
-Boss Rush mode
-Boss fights are unique (no palette swaps), difficult but not cheap, and overall fun.

NEUTRALS:
-Art design is enjoyable but feels too similar to a certain other very popular metroidvania.
-There should be an upgrade to teleport in to save points (you can buy an upgrade to teleport out from them). There are not enough teleporters.

CONS:
-Not really a metroidvania. The game is linear, there are extremely few secret items, and even fewer secret paths.
-Pacing. I played on Hard and the first 85% of the game was extremely easy and then suddenly the last 2 boss areas became the difficulty I would have expected. This resulted in a jarring sudden change from the casual game I had been playing thus far.

A polished, but extremely basic, casual, and frankly boring, game. I couldn't even force myself to finish the main story.

PROS:
-Polished
-The puzzles don't handhold you but do offer several fair hints.
-Might be good for younger kids (nothing scary or dark)

NEUTRALS:
-Colorful game world, but no lore to it. Just the most generic red/blue palette swap kingdom.
-Nothing is done with the cute "sandbox" game world. The game could have taken place in any other setting and been exactly the same. (although in fairness, I did not finish the game which is rare for me and a leading reason why I am giving it a thumbs down)

CONS:
-Boring.
-No plot whatsoever.
-Terrible combat. Feels out of place, forced, and is generally very clunky and awkward which contrasts heavily with how polished the rest of the game looks/feels. Unclear what purpose the combat serves to the majority of the gameplay.
-Everything is extremely basic. Its obvious the developer has an understanding of game design, but does nothing with it. As a result, the game feels very much like a student or learning project with nothing even slightly new or innovative.
-Confusing level design. At several points its unclear where to go next. You end up just running around randomly. This makes you lose interest in an already boring game very fast.

A repetitive, bland, and laughably easy shooter with an unnecessarily large map and pointless collectibles, whose only redeeming value is Ubisoft's great modeling, rigging, and voice acting. The vast majority of the game consists of commuting between objectives to open a chest or shoot a single enemy type (PROTIP: Use a helicopter!).

"Barely Recommend" on sale for less than $10. Otherwise, skip it.

PROS:
-Typical great modeling, rigging, and voice acting from Ubisoft.
-There are a couple of puzzles that are cool (Treasure Hunt missions)
-The story had a few surprises along the way but the overall plot was predictable and the otherwise great characters underutilized.

NEUTRAL:
-Traveling by copter is so much faster than anything else you should never waste your time in any other mode of transport.
-Fast travel points are there, but helipads and docks (which can spawn the drone-copter thing) are often not near them. This results in only a handful of fast travel locations actually being useful.
-Lots of weapons and upgrades but there is no point to the vast majority (I used essentially the same 3 weapons for 40+ hours). Same with upgrades. Never used my pistol.

CONS:
-Laughably easy. I played on the hardest difficulty and I was basically indestructible with unlimited ammo. 1 headshot kills anyone even the guys with helmets.
-Only 2 enemy types: Soldado and Flamethrower guy (which are rare). Thats it. Vast majority of encounters are just against soldados. Soldados may carry various weapons but they are all equally incompetent. Sometimes they drive a vehicle but still incompetent (and vehicles die in 1 EMP). Sometimes it says his "Elite" forces are coming after you, but I could never tell a difference.
-Leveling up serves no purpose other than to artificially limit access to certain areas until you've grinded enough XP.
-Yara is huge for no reason. Many parts are never used or have nothing more than a useless collectible and a lot of empty space.
-All of the collectibles are equally useless (they literally do nothing) and there are WAY too many of them. They want you to just fly from location to location (or worse walk/ride/drive) opening chests for hours.
-The subplots for the 3 regions are very predictable and essentially identical.
-Pesos can be used to buy some gear instead of finding it. You can also trade some animal drops and junk for pesos......but you won't ever need to do any of that. You MIGHT buy a gear item early in the game to skip finding it, but thats about it.
-TONS of different vehicles, almost all of them are near-identical and almost all have absolutely no purpose (you will never use any of them). They are just another filler collectible.
-Every objective on the map just requires you to show up and shoot a couple soldados (except the cool treasure hunt missions). These are EXTREMELY BLAND copy-paste and so repetitive you will likely quit the game long before you complete them all.
-I encountered a couple of mission-breaking bugs (like Chincharron getting stuck in the ground while running up the hill).
-"Side" activities are stupid (Dominos) and things like cockfighting shouldn't be encouraged
-The races are so awful that for some of them it'll teleport you back onto the track. I skipped almost all of these.
-Airplane controls suck but it doesn't matter because airplanes serve no purpose (helicopters are superior in every way).
-The Los Bandidos side game is a complete waste of time (its just clicking with pointless delays through a TON of menu options one by one). Even worse, early in the game before you have upgrades, you might actually lose materials.
-There is some kind of multiplayer minigame that awards moneda but I have no idea what purpose it serves. I tried queueing several times but it never found a match and it does not appear to relate in any way to anything else in the game. I don't know what the money resource is supposed to be used for assuming I get it.
-You cannot capture many areas throughout the map which just feels odd given how huge the map is. It would have made a lot more sense for the player to be able to slowly take back the entire island until soldados only spawned in Esperanza but nope....even after you clear out a base and get the chests/etc, it stays hostile to you.
-You are literally indestructible in a tank (as if the game wasn't easy enough without one). There are almost no tanks in the game and they die to a single EMP grenade anyway. The RPG guys will rarely shoot you (and do no real damage). No other enemy can hurt you.

"Barely recommend on sale"
More of the same FarCry formula. Nothing new or innovative. The characters are not as interesting as Farcry 3 but, as usual, Ubisoft voice acting, modeling, and rigging is excellent (among the best). However, beyond that, the game has little to offer. Its extremely easy, extremely repetitive, and there is next to zero level design.

PROS:
-Great characters
-Big open world

NEUTRAL:
-A very casual shooter even on the highest difficulty
-Majority of the events are very simplistic and repetitive

CONS:
-Animal hunting is annoying (as usual)
-LOTS of extremely repetitive quests/events that serve no real purpose. The VAST majority of the game play is padded with random small events.
-Loot serves no point (as in most FC games)
-Crafting is pointless (as in most FC games)
-Still lots of running around, though better than FC3

More of the same great cinematic action shooter. The second in the Tomb Raider trilogy by Eidos-Montreal.
This (and the trilogy collection) go on sale for 80% off all the time.

PROS:
-Core Tomb Raider gameplay (clean action run n gun)
-Looks good
-Great cinematic / cutscene sequences
-Great rigging (Eidos Montreal is usually solid at this)

-NEUTRALS:
-If you've played a lot of their games, you may recognize some animations (they reuse/reskin sometimes but its well done and you wouldn't know if you aren't familiar with their games)
-Length has improved over the first one.

CONS:
-More of the same gameplay loop from the first one. The first game did nothing to expand on the core premise and this game does not either. Although the core gameplay loop is solid, it stays the same throughout the game.
-Multiplayer is dead
-No replay. Once you beat it, you move on to the next one.
-DLC is forgettable
