Honestly I just find the game kind of annoying. The gameplay is shallow and very RNG heavy, many of the enemies and level hazards feel designed to be tedious and overall I think the entire game is centered around grinding for unlocks while memes happen in the background. I might feel different if this was an early access title but this does not feel like a finished game, nor are there many interesting systems to engage with. I feel like this is something you're supposed to turn your brain off to and kinda grind out a couple runs on autopilot. If you really need a fix I think there other VS-likes (Halls of Torment, Picayune Dreams, BallxPit) that are vastly superior to this.

this is a game where you throw dynamite at geocities fish gifs while hardbass plays in the background and then you have a flashback where everyone you know is depressed and hallucinates

I HAVE CAUGHT EVERY FISH OF EVERY SIZE IN EVERY BODY OF WATER. I HAVE CLAIMED EVERY TROPHY, VANQUISHED EVERY LEGEND AND TUNED EVERY PIECE OF FISHING AND BOATING EQUIPMENT KNOWN TO MAN TO PERFECTION. MY COFFERS ARE OVERFLOWING WITH RICHES. MY WALLS ARE CLUTTERED WITH CORPSES. MY DOG REFUSES TO BATHE, FOR IT FEARS THAT I WILL CONSIDER IT AN AQUATIC LIFEFORM. MY FISHING GUIDE IS THE MAP TO A GRAVEYARD, EACH X MARKING THE SPOT OF AN ENTIRE SPECIES. THEY THOUGHT THE ICE WOULD PROTECT THEM AND STILL I DECIMATED THEIR KIND. I CANNOT BE STOPPED. I AM THE FISH MAN. you can pet the dog

Game is fine. Obviously Justin Roiland was heavily involved in this and he voices what is arguably the most prominently featured character, so if you like that Rick and Morty style of humor then you will get a lot out of this. Personally I think that aimless rambling-riffing-impro style gets annoying after a while. Luckily the game has other ideas and talent (Zach Hadel, Joel Haver, ...) so all in all it's still a pretty fun romp with good variety. I particularly liked Creature and was delighted to find out that he was voiced by the one and only Tim Robinson.

Gameplay-wise there is a surprisingly competent boomer shooter here and some of the later encounters, when you have more upgrades unlocked and you keep sliding and switching weapons, it can get pretty exciting. That being said, it doesn't quite have the depth and longetivity of a game like DOOM Eternal. Which works out I guess. I was just about ready to be done with it when the credits rolled so in that sense it was appropriately paced.

Overall I recommend it when on sale, but don't expect it to blow your mind.

The game is fine. If you like the art and just want a cute little slice-of-life story its fine, but it's not for me at all, and there's a couple reasons.

The most glaring problem is that there isn't much to actually do in this game that's fun. There are some very shallow jump and run elements, a mediocre guitar hero clone and a couple brief minigames. But really I feel like I spent the majority of my time just... running in a straight line while nothing happens. Talked to everyone in town? Time to go home! Hold down the D-pad for a minute.

That might still be fine if the plot or dialogue could grab me, but I don't vibe with the writing at all. The story is slow. Very slow. I'm five hours in and I just had my first encounter with the actual mystery of the game. Again, if you like slice-of-life or coming-of-age drama this might be right down your alley, but I can't stand that stuff. I want a mystery to solve. Humor falls flat for me personally, which feeds into my biggest issue with the writing, is that I despise the main cast. Mae especially, but I feel all of them have some level of that problem where they suddenly start acting and talking like somewhat dumb children when they're supposed to be a group of twenty year olds. The more I think about it the more they remind me of the YA detective novels I would read in my early teens, which is weird for what I assume is a game for adults.

But yeah, the main problem I have is that it's just... boring. Very early on the game starts giving you dream sequences where you slowly have to jump and run around a surreal map to try and find four mysterious marching band mascots or whatever to progress the game. It's a ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ chore, it takes minutes, nothing happens and eventually I decided I would rather quit and never touch this game again than deal with another one of those scenes and well here we are.

Sorry. I understand why this game is popular. It's authentic, and I think it's neat that the developers had a vision and got to execute it just like they wanted. It's just that I hate everything about that vision. I can't do it. I can't. I really tried, but I can't. Sorry.

I think the game is mostly a vessel to carry the jokes that the dev wanted to write. Which is fine. It's a fun adventure, just be aware that it's also very short and linear. I bought it on sale, played through it once for the story, had a couple chuckles and felt my money was well spent. I don't think I would buy it at full price.

There's something about the grid-locked building-block style of how walls and other structural elements align with each other that finally made the idea of decorating my rides and building actual train stations click with me in a way that other theme park simulators couldn't. Now I wish they gave you more freedom to position and rotate your elements, but there's mods for that so it's all good. Really fun and obvious spiritual successor to the RCT series.

This game is an OBVIOUS RIPOFF of the greatest series of action movies ever, Taken 2 and 3.

So judging this game purely from a gameplay perspective, I see a big problem with the AI component. The combat itself isn't all that impressive, so the main facet I am interested in is the spellcrafting. And then it's very frustrating to me that a major factor in deciding the outcome of your crafting is a black box AI that rolls the dice. I understand that the in-lore explanation is that "magic is random", but as a videogame, enjoy the idea of progressively mastering a spellcrafting system, and the randomness makes this impossible. So sadly I can't recommend this at the moment. The art is very cute though.
