Interesting (but linear) narrative and some excellent world-building.
The game's combat mechanics are a little dated by today's standards but there is good variety and multiple paths to winning a fight.
Graphics and music are nothing special.
Overall there is just enough intrigue to keep you playing to see the conclusion of the story.

Wow that difficulty spike - or I'm just getting older lol.
Still good fun and excellent fun with friends - prepare to go on stupid epic journeys all over again!

Still 5 stars.

Old Review:
Wow - this game has sucked me in real hard. Didn't think of myself as a fan of survival games until now.

Here is what I like:
Deep crafting system, but not overwhelming.
Huge map with lots to explore.
Some big difficulty spikes - but very rewarding when you conquer them.
Bosses to beat, and different "biomes" (i.e. distinct regions with different enemies and resources) give some structure to what is 90% open ended adventure in an open world.
Graphics are beautiful - low res textures but spectacular lighting and depth of field give it a distinctive look and feel unlike anything I've ever played.
Music is chill.

Amazing: 5 stars

The nostalgia is strong in this one.

Once you get used to the controls, and it takes a little getting used to unless you're a flight-sim nut (I'm not) it is such a thrill to fly around dodging asteroids, wreckage, and gun emplacements along the surface of a Star Destroyer.

The campaign is a really tight and focused experience, it's one story told from two perspectives, one Empire and the other New Republic, and it's a fantastic way to introduce you to the various game mechanics, ships and loadout options for each ship. I'd recommend completing the campaign before jumping online against other players. I would love to see another campaign.

Playing online is easy; you can jump into a party and dogfight against other players or play in the fleet mode against other players or AI opponents. The fleet mode is a good mish-mash of a flight-sim and a MOBA, where the towers are larger AI-controlled capital ships, and the teams base is a star destroyer or the New Republic equivalent.

Unfortunately, match-making in NZ/AUS often takes 5-10 minutes to get you into a match; this is the only downside. You can just set up a custom game against other players or AI pretty quickly (or use the server browser to find something) although you won't unlock cosmetics for your ship/character in this mode.

Overall I had a blast in the campaign and am enjoying the online version of the game.

This game has thoroughly sucked me in. Love the theme, love all the hilarious game mechanics. It’s an exceptionally good sandbox in which to play. Fun alone, MUCH more fun with friends. Recommended.

Completed this with my 8-year-old daughter. As with all the Lego games, its easy on the eye and simple mechanics that kids enjoy. Recommended if you're in to the theme.

This is first-person perspective game where you explore a little solar system full of weird planets. There is a Groundhog-Day mechanic where you fly to a planet, you look at some stuff, the sun goes supernova, you wake up where you started. The goal is to uncover a little bit more of the mystery each time. I can see why some people might like it but I just couldn't get into this game.

Turn-based combat and RPG-lite elements set in the wild west: demons, gunslingers, villains, revenge, and moral choices.
Art-style, music and narration is excellent. Outside of combat, the RPG-lite elements won't dazzle, but overall the game is an enjoyable distraction, and you'll smash through it in 12-13hrs.

Quantum Break is a little gem of a game. While the combat is nothing groundbreaking by 2020 standards, the acting and narrative are top-notch.

And at less than 10 hours to complete, it didn't seem like an ungainly slog to finish like a lot of games these days that put in hours of repetitive rubbish to lengthen the game to 40+ hours. This game keeps it tight, and I like that.

There a stack of little collectables and they're pretty much essential to understanding the plot and informing your choices. A bit of reading here and there but nothing too arduous.

Its replayability is interesting... There are big moral choices that apparently can significantly change parts of the story - and you can return and make different choices. I didn't because I'd read that ultimately the story ends up in the same place - so an interesting mechanic, but not interesting enough to create a desire for a replay.

Performance-wise - there were are few stutters and freezes (not crashes) - which is a little worrying considering I'm using a GTX 2080ti and this is a game released on PC in 2016 - nothing game-breaking, but it happened often enough to annoy me.

Exceptionally difficult at times, but super rewarding when things click, XCOM 2 with the 'War of the Chosen' expansion extends the game significantly.

There are new bosses to fight, new resistance factions, and new resistance heroes with new and fun-to-use abilities.

It is still the same brutal turn-based tactics game with a compelling narrative that you know and love, but better.

Nothing beats those feels when you set up a sweet ‘overwatch’ ambush…

The ‘too long didn't read’ version is essentially: This entry in the franchise fails to capture the wonder and fun of Assassin's Creed: Blag Flag.

The mechanics are roughly the same as previous entries in the series with a few notable exceptions, for example the new grappling hook allows you to instantly climb tall buildings, escape combat, and traverse between roof-tops - however it kinda removes the "parkour across the rooftops" which depending on your point of view was either an enjoyable hallmark of the franchise or really tedious - don't get me wrong you can still climb things the old way but it's slower so why would you. This doesn’t contribute to whether this view is negative or positive just that veterans of the series so far might be interested in knowing this beforehand.

The main story missions are the decent however the main characters a bit too stereotypical to believe. It was interesting getting to interact with famous characters like Alexander Graham Bell or Florence Nightingale, Charles Darwin, etc. And I really enjoyed the WW2 blitz sequence.

As someone who lived in London for years, I was impressed how accurately parts of London were recreated and there were lots of ‘take a screen-shot’ moments!

Sadly, the game play loop of clearing areas gets tedious once you’ve done one of the same 3 types of side-missions about 9 times each, and the main story is not interesting enough to keep slogging through. I stopped playing at about 25hrs.
There were no technical problems or crashes.

On balance, I don’t recommend this game, but it’s not totally terrible – more like a 5/10.
