This is a hard-as-nails platformer... One of the statistics shown on the 'pause' screen counts the number of times you have died... which by completion, was something like 800+ times for me.

The superb hand-painted-style graphics, and perfect mood-setting music convey a uncomplicated but poignant story.

But the real strength in this game – is the gameplay.

For example, there are three 'boss fights' - for lack of a better word - which are basically rage-inducing-controller-throwing extended sequences under pressure, without safe save-game spots.

The only way to progress is to memorise the sequence of moves required to surpass the obstacles – sounds horrible right!?

But WOW! It is satisfying when you finally get it.

Huge scope for enjoyable gameplay and impressive attention to detail.

Although the single player campaign has some slow moments, this is contrasted with some spectacular set pieces, wonderful characters, humorous moments, and generally perfect voice acting.

Online free-mode is often absolute pandemonium, however there are plenty of opportunities to work together in a team, particularly in the sometimes-frustrating heists mode - in a group of friends you will experience some cracker gaming moments!

The flip-side of the heists mode is that if you attempt to take on a heist with random players’ you can expect long waits in a lobby, with no way to filter to English-speakers, players who quit (or crash) mid-heist dumping the whole team back in to free mode, and they’re rarely fun, or successful.

The races, death matches, team death matches and survival mode are generally good.

The bottom line is, once you’ve had your fun in single-player mode, jump online and assuming you can get together regularly with a bunch of friends, this really is a worthwhile game.

A side-scrolling puzzle platformer made unique by an interesting game mechanic; the ability to create clones and swap your consciousness to the newly created clone!

As you move around and solve puzzles the bodies of the clones you’ve recently inhabited inevitably meet their end and when they do its impossible not to wonder, was it murder or suicide?

Expect an eerie setting inside a derelict space station, with a low-key pace, and well-designed puzzles that rise in difficulty pleasantly to keep you satisfied all the way until the unnerving finale.

A platformer with a tonne of speed-running, mind-bending, death traps to traverse.
Great level design.
Rocking soundtrack.
May induce fits of controller throwing.

Well the single-player was a blast - sadly I wasn't able to find many online games to join, which sucks because apparently there is a cool co-op mode :-(

Regarding the single-player:

1. Expect to beat it in under 12 hours on normal difficult

2. Everything from cracking an orcs skull with an axe to just simply wearing the universe's biggest shoulder pads was a pleasure.

3. Don't play this for the plot - play it because the combat is super-fun.

An engrossing storyline punctuated by some fantastic moments and some genuinely good plot twists. The characters are engaging, the voice acting is excellent (though the lip syncing is a little off).

Puzzles were about right in terms of difficulty. I did have to use a walkthrough for a difficult puzzle but on the whole solving the puzzles was incredibly satisfying.

Graphics and sound do a good job of portraying the setting. The controls are a tad imprecise compared to other games which allow first person control – though this does not take away from the enjoyment of the game in a major way.

I bought it on sale so value-wise for £3 I got a quality 16 hours of gameplay! Can’t argue with that!

Totally unique and totally metal!

A third person action mixed with elements of RTS. Set to a sweet metal soundtrack,the gameplay is a bit rough at times but it oozes character, cameos, and humour.

A shooter with a difference. The single-player campaign has good narrative with some noteworthy characters. Some impressive gun fights that will keep you interested right up until the finale.

Expect a depressingly honest finale. War is Hell.

Not a bad shooter, some nice fun combat mechanics to explore. The story is.... well... it's... I don't even know.

A linear but decent 3rd person stealth/action game with some spectacular set-pieces and particularly pretty visuals.
