Took me roughly 30 minutes to complete all levels and get 100% achievements

Great for wasting time really quickly, like a short break for work.

Simple and easy puzzles that don't require too much thinking.

Trading cards.

Same goes to all other Zup! games.

Pros:
- Great art and character design
- Easy to learn, hard to master combat mechanics
- Multiple available characters and jobs; various ways to play

Neutral:
- Lots of grinding
- Requires party/grouping for late-game dungeons; RIP solo players

Cons:
- Microtransactions - a ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ lot of it
- Pay 2 win/ Pay 2 play
- Cheaters and hackers still found in PvP
- Have I mentioned microtransactions?

I have been playing Elsword before it got released on Steam. But back then, it was regional so accounts do not progress the same in different regions (For example: EU servers and Asia servers). Then, they decided to sync all accounts into one international version. KOG gave players a chance to sync their accounts so all player data- Characters, items, levels, mounts, etc- will be saved, which I obviously did. But when the international version went live, all my data was lost. I did all the required procedures and even got a confirmation email. I contacted both local and international Elsword supportbut neither helped getting back my data. So in the end, I lost several lvl 70s and several rare boss drops. After several years, I decided it was fine so I started fresh. I am still disappointed with the game.

Microtransactions are still a vital aspect of the game. Everything, I mean everything, can be sped up, improved, enhanced and/or obtained with microtransactions. You are a grinder and your 40 item slot (pretty tiny actually) isn't enough? Too bad, you gotta use real-life cash to unlock slots. You have unlocked skills but don't have enough slots to equip them? Into the Item Mall you go. Starting costume is the best looking costume that follows in-game lore and character design? Ok, actually the item mall doesn't have that. But still, microtransactions are flooding the game in a bad way that actually reduces the fun from playing. Some aren't even permanently available to you after purchase. Several items, after a week up to a month, expire and disappear from your inventory. Well, goodbye precious lunch money.

Don't get me wrong, you can be a pro and get far and progress the game without spending a single cent. But it will be extremely hard and time consuming. It will literally take you YEARS to reach a level where you can beat up everything and have ultra-rare items with epic stats and cool costumes and accesories, assuming you follow every event and play regularly.

Oh the grinding. I absolutely love the grinding. No joke. I used to play with a friend and both of us would party together to clear specific dungeons 100+ times just to get the rare boss drop. Combat is actually fun and satisfying in PvE so the grinding brings more pleasure than exhaustion. That is, of course, if you actually enjoy grinding like I do. If not, then too bad. You are required to grind a HELL LOT to complete several quests and missions, especially in the late-game. "Get 30 monster jaws". Seems simple until you realize that killing the monster that appears only 5 times in an entire dungeon that requires 3-7 minutes to complete only drops a jaw 1/20th of the time. Fun they said.

I don't go to PvP much; I'm more of a relaxed, play-at-my-own-pace, PvE kind of guy. But the rare times that I do go to PvP, I meet unbalanced, world-level pros or no cooldown, infinite health hackers. Could be just me and my luck. Don't know, don't care.

Overall, Elsword has a great potential to become a great MMO. Fluid combats, character and design are the strong aspects of the game. But the game just has a really big microtransaction problem that most low-level, free players will find discouraging to continue to play. If you are willing to invest a lot of time into this game, fight your way through Pay 2 Wins, and grind like hell, give this game a shot.

A bunch of the negative reviews are because the game supposedly got worse over time. As a new player that just played the game, here are my personal opinions for the current game.

The game is a pretty simple, battle-arena survival. You kill or be killed and be the last man standing. Get weapons and hopefully outsmart and outfight your enemies. Not much to it.

Combat is alright. You just left click and you attack. You can also throw your weapons to deal damage from afar, with a small damage reduction. There's blocking and shoving to prevent spamming left clicks and increase difficulty, but both are pretty simple and easy to learn.

Map is wide, as expected from a battle arena. But mostly just the same stuff appearing all over with a few buildings.

Overall, it's pretty good and fun to play with a friend. I'd say this game is worth $10 at it's current condition, so get it on a sale with a friend or something.

6.8/10
