I cannot express the sheer amount of pros I found playing this game. Like... Jesus and here I thought the first Octopath Traveler was good!? This game takes it's first game, dropkicks the cons it had and manages to carefully place multiple QoL changes and more in their stead.

The music is DELECTABLE. The fact that you get DOUBLE the amount of tracks and themes due to one of the game's main mechanics. I could sit at my PC for days on end listening to this game's OST. 10/10

I LOVED the characters, yet again. Sure the first game barely gave the original eight a lot of banter or even time chatting with one another, but this game actually changed and improved on that, too! And it isn't just small little quips or remarks here and there, no no. No matter your party composition, or what time it is in a character's chapter, or where you are, the game has some kind of short conversation between at least two of the party members. It helps so much with lore and story telling that I really hope that the next major installation of this series takes it to the next level.
On top of that, there's voice acting... A lot of voice acting... MUCH more compared to the first game, I'd argue. Sure, it may not be that every single little line is voiced, but I don't think they need to be. 8/10

The graphics.. Oh man, the comparison of this game and it's older edition are like night and day (haha). Character sprites look so much better, have way more life and body to them. Enemy sprites were taken and enhanced doubly so, giving every enemy at least one additional animation when attacking, or using a skill, etc. Even Bosses got a nice polish to them and I adore the living hell out of it all. 9/10

Like the other aspects of the game; They took the game play and just overall made it better. They re-balanced jobs, their actions, etc. as well as gave each individual main character a unique special ability AND a couple unique skills, if you find the ways to unlock them. I enjoyed the combat and idea of utilizing enemy weaknesses to actually BREAK and stun an enemy temporarily to do extra damage as opposed to simply just doing more damage with said weapons. I don't think there's too much more to be desired from this part of the game, at least for me. 9/10
I have a little bit over 100 hours on the game and I also was able to 100% the game in that time frame. Compared to the first game, the hardest achievements to get are a lot more laid back and toned down and I really appreciate that! 9/10

Overall I'd give this game a 9.5/10 and to be totally honest if I made a review for Octopath Traveler 1 I would drop that game's rating down quite significantly after playing this game.

THAT BEING SAID both games should be played, I cannot stress that enough AND the first should obviously be played FIRST for that proper experience, IMO.

Definitely pick this game up when it goes on sale, you won't regret it.

Man and I JUST bought a years worth of VRC+ and they pull this new update out of their rear. Really gotta love devs who like to go back on their word and completely disregard almost if not their ENTIRE community and player base.

Don't get me wrong I love this game, it's an amazing platform to explore and try out some new stuff if you can find the right people and worlds to vibe in. That being said; Nobody and I mean NOBODY in the right mind wants to willingly forfeit their security, let alone freedom in these sort of situations. Don't continue your sub on this game until the devs decide to pull out the "Haha got you guys good" card and revert this awful change.

How the hell did this game come out at the start of this year? It honestly feels like it came out 2 or more years ago.

It's MInecraft Runescape Viking sim' 2021. That's all you need to know.

Soundtrack? - Really funken good 10/10. Especially the home base theme, that's my jam play it at my funeral it's my bedroom music whenever I walk in.

Combat and Mechanics? - Spicy 8.5/10. Weapons and combat in general is fun and interactive and knowing enemy weaknesses / block and parry timing is very fun and rewarding (if not easily abusive if you're a god like that). My only complaint is early on, spears get shafted (hah) because of their wonky angle and how they're held. If they get changed so they're two handed or not held upside down then they can have the potential to be as good as swords. I believe knives (and stealth in general) still need a bit more love before they can be truly a ton of fun to use but since they got at least one buff so far it's on the right track.

Gameplay? - Pretty good. 8/10. It has the same progression pacing kinda like Terraria although I will say it's noticeably slower which isn't necessarily a bad thing. Early game is lots of fun just with building alone (Building does need some more tweaking and love like other things in the game but it's still very satisfying and fun to fiddle with). If you know what you're doing or you have a good group of friends with at least 2 braincells the game can fly by pretty fast or if you choose, can have all the down time you can dream of. Things like boat controls can be a bit daunting at first but give it a day or two and you can easily make the ocean your binch. Enemies are tough but that's why there's combat mechanics so you have a proper way of taking them down. Overall farming gameplay? Again, it's kind of like Terraria, just much slower and honestly can burn you out quick if you're one of the few amongst your crew who gets picked to go farming materials all the time. Share the workloads equally, plan routes ahead of time and mark ♥♥♥♥ on your map and it'll go by much more efficiently and hey, it may even be a lot more fun once you figure it all out.

Overall? - 8.25/10. Definitely is a spectacular game to play, but can be a bit slow or boring if you run into halts like farming or constantly getting your butt kicked by deathsquitos. I'm looking forward to this game getting more love by the devs and hey, maybe we'll get workshop mod support in the future, now that'd be hella dope.

If you've got a best friend or a partner who loves collaborative gameplay and if you miss splitcreening, this is a great game for you. I absolutely adored this game, it's style and the story and I honestly hope it gets an expansion or some additional content in the future. It's also worth mentioning it should definitely be replayed at least twice although I could imagine myself playing it again a couple more times after that.

If you don't have this game in your library, get it. If you don't have friends to play it with, get friends or play it in pubs because this game is AMAZING. Especially with this new update (35) that just rolled out the other day. It's not even been a week and I'm already in love with this game all over again, and I've barely even owned the game for a full year. The assignments are fun, the characters and classes are fun and entertaining. The difficulties are pretty darn fair too. And the cosmetics / mod support... Hoo boy, this game is actually bursting with variety and flavor.

This game deserves more love, attention and awards.

This game has quickly become such a fun waste of time. I love the concept so much and it's free!?

At this current time; 12/31/2020 2:52 AM, prestiging normally when I have BLC coins available prestiges me but I don't get any prestige coins that I should be getting. I've tried it 3 times now, all times when I was able to earn 1 billion+ prestige coins. Each time didn't give me a single coin but when I BLC'ed I got the BLC rewards as normal.

A fat fistful of fun, comedy, hacking and slashing! All the characters that you can interact are super lovable. (Yes, even Theseus)

Oh, and I would sex the hell out of Asterius and Dionysus, just saying.

Fun game. Some minor issues that have picked my brain a few times but at the end of the day I can't say I regret buying this game. There's only a few game modes at the moment but the weapon and armor selection as well as the perks give players a whole lot of different ways to go about this game.
