This is probably one of my favorite games that I have ever played. I have made a lot of friends through this one game alone and it stands out in a way that it really lives up to it being considered as a "realistic game". I played this game a lot for the duration of my summer and I honestly had a blast. What really stands out to me, though, is the fact that this game is TOTALLY FREE. There are no costs to this game whatsoever, whether it be micro-transactions, DLC, loot boxes, etc. (the only exception is the soundtrack but that's not necessary for gameplay). Despite this, No More Room in Hell seems to be really underrated by other zombie related games such as Dead Rising, Left 4 Dead, etc. However, with this review, I really hope that I am able to change your mind and make you play this game because it really is amazing! Let's get started.


- One thing I love about this game is the fact that it focuses so much on being as realistic as possible. This factor really makes it extremely unique in comparison to other zombie games. It even goes as far as to have certain attributes like:

• being slow-paced in terms of aspects like movement speed, reloading speed, stamina recharge, healing, etc.
  
• having limited firearms and ammo (mainly if you're doing classic mode; there are servers with unlimited ammo that essentially negate this)
  
• having to keep track of things like stamina, ammo and health although you would need to ask your teammates for your health by checking what color your name tag is (being green, yellow, orange or red) due to there actually being no health bar
  
• needing to check how much ammo is in a gun after you pick it up (you actually get an achievement if you do this for the first time)
  
• not having "mutated" or "upgraded" zombies; the only special zombies you'll face are going to be the runners, crawlers and.... zombie kids yes there are actual zombie kids in this game and they can be a huge pain in the butt to deal with if you're not careful enough
  
• having to actually worry about bleeding to death or getting infected by a zombie; if you are bitten by one, you will eventually succumb to that very infection and turn into a zombie yourself (it's more of a chance to get infected, but it's not guaranteed although it is still important to watch out for)
  
• making every hit/shot count as messing up can be VERY punishable for you
  
• dynamic maps (maps that change certain details about it)
  
• the inclusion of necessary teamwork
  
• zombies being ACTUAL threats

Now a lot of the statements that I listed may all seem like cons, but let me assure you, they're not. These details are CRUCIAL in order to add on to the whole "realism" factor that this game is trying to go for. Not only do these factors actually promote aspects of a game like teamwork, but they really go to show how intense this game can be when it comes to newcomers who want to try out the game. And I like this addition for the game overall.

- One key detail that I've noticed from lots of multiplayer games is the fact that teamwork is more "artificial" than actually promoted. Granted, there are a lot of exceptions out there that do actually promote teamwork, but it seems to be a common theme for the games that I've experienced, either from playing it myself or watching others play. However, I feel like No More Room in Hell actually promotes teamwork in an unofficial way. The way the game works just makes it so that it's actually easier to play when you have more people to work with. And I am aware that there can be the argument of "Well, No More Room in Hell can also be played in a way where teamwork is actually artificial and players can just lone-wolf their way through a map." And I've heard that before, because I've actually made that argument myself while editing this review. But I will say that this scenario doesn't actually happen too often and if a player wanted to lone-wolf their way through a map, they could just play on a server by themselves. A lot of the times when I've loaded into a server with a group of people online, we usually work together to finish the current objectives and get extracted. So I can't say for myself that teamwork is really artificial when it comes to this game.


As i have stated before, this game is very unique. It has a very different feel from other zombie games like Left 4 Dead, Dead Rising, or even COD Zombies, as those can be generalized as fast-paced games. However, there are certain things that I am pretty critical about:

• Hitboxes ; there are times where the hitboxes of zombies can be messed up to the point where you can shoot a zombie's head and it completely misses or you can be a pretty reasonable distance away but somehow be hit or grabbed by a zombie. This can really trigger a lot of players and I'm pretty guilty of this myself as I find this pretty annoying.

• Making Personal Servers ; these are just straight up complicated and although I haven't actually figured out how to make one, I'm not gonna put in the effort because it's just way too much work to do something as little as making a server on a zombie game. It sucks to not be able to make a private server to play with friends on as players mainly have to resort to joining public servers instead. Although this isn't really that bad, it really isn't the best substitute because there are some servers with custom add-ons or maps that can make the game a little harder/easier, servers that have people who are trolls and are just trying to kill everyone (which isn't fun btw), or servers that you favorited can just be empty or full to which I either try to find a new server or just exit the game entirely. But if you find a good public server, that can be a good substitute instead.
  
  
• Lighting ; This game can get VERY dark if given the opportunity and not in psychological terms. If you don't have a maglite or even know how to use your lighter, certain maps can be extremely dark and make it almost impossible to even see where you are going. And even if you have a maglite, certain maps like CampBlood and Underground can still be very difficult to see where you are going even with full brightness. What I'm trying to say is that the lighting in this game can really hinder your gameplay, especially for new players who don't know what they're doing. It is a nice touch to the "Realism" factor, but I'm not a big fan of it.

Overall, I still love this game. Despite my criticisms of it, I try to find a way around those problems so that I can still enjoy the game and I usually do find solutions to those same issues. I would also list this as a pro for this game but everyone encounters different problems so I certainly can't speak for everyone. Anyways, this is an amazing game that is still great even with its age and I would absolutely recommend No More Room in Hell to others!

I also am really thrilled to try out No More Room in Hell 2, which is slated to release pretty soon. I can't wait to play it!

Although I have a lot of the same points that he has, I do agree with a lot of them so I restated them to clarify that. I do want to point out that he doesn't mention the existence of gene therapy, which is an item that has a chance of healing you from infection completely.
