The DLC is 100% NOT vital to play the game, that is simply false. The reason they give out free DLCs is it allows them to do Steam promotions to get new players, nothing to do with guilting others into purchasing them. This is probably one of the most generous free to play games so I feel it necessary to correct your nonsense.

its a general statement around how the game enforces micro-transactions through DLC and making people want them, that's why they do small periods where a small amount of DLC is free. one of the most often made complaints is that the DLC is vital to play the game.
