Gameplay is fun, the destructable terrain is a solid 9/10.
Sadly the weapons are not very unique, with the very basic auto, semi, burst ARs, snipers, shotguns and for some reason... grenade launchers.
There's also melee that's basically more or less the same all around.
Balancing is god awful on for some weapons that are just WAAAAY over and undertuned....
maps are fun for the first 10 games but after those 10 games you've probably replayed most of the maps a couple of times already, and whilst each map have a few different modifiers, they're basic and rarely change anything gameplay wise and whilst the map events do change the gameplay a little bit it doesn't change it enough to be noticeable most of the time and in most cases it's just an annoyance.

haven't even had time to play it yet but imma just recommend it for the simple fact that they actually allow you to enter the options menu during the starting cutscene without skipping it!

Genuinely a "great" game but i wouldn't recommend this to anyone. It's a flawless experience till you start noticing the small issues.

to begin with, the story is hilariously bad, they never allow you to get attached to the characters due to how shallow they feel. the missions associated with the story are insanely easy compared to basically every random encounter u can come across.

controls are fine (only played with controller) but dear god the aim assist is god awful, it overwrites the lock-on system which makes the lock-on system completely meaningless outside of a few specific weapon cases.
(nvm it's even worse, it sometimes overwrites it (which i think is cause the aim assist is really inconsistent with how much the aim is getting assisted))

When enemy reinforcements come in they usually spawn basically on top of you and well within their weapons range, meaning that they start shooting the second they appear, making the railgun next to useles in some events.
The fact that they spawn in right on top of u makes it so you're basically forced to play medium or heavy ships cause if they spawn in with certain loadouts you're basically insta killed unless you burn basically all your consumables with a light ship since they're more evasive but basically not able to be used like that when u have random ships appearing out of nowhere right behind you whilst you're fighting something else in front of u.

However the game is great when these things don't happen but they're frequent enough that it's hard to recommend it when these things happen so often.

in my 80 minutes of gametime i had 3 crashes, 2 bugs causing me to be unable to use the crafting menu.
Felt like the core gameplay could be fun but i'm not accepting dealing with an crash once every 20 - 30 minutes.

Great game all around!
ALOT of variety when it comes to different skills, which in turn can interact with each other to make some very fun builds.
a ton of different characters, which whilst not always completely unique is unique enough to make you think about how you should build them and each of their weapons.
The game can become a bit too easy when you reach a certain level with the characters, which they tried solving with a special map, which it did but imo it's a very boring map and gets stale very quickly. That goes for all the maps in general, they turn boring very quickly, they're not very unique (except for the special map) except for being in different environments (Sure guess it's a a nice scene change), having no different mechanics and being more or less the exact same, with the only change(that i've noticed) being different enemy types(which you interact with the exact same way) and having small variations for where walls are placed.

People think it's a fighting game... it's not.... it's a sport game.....
atleast it's supposed to be.....
why make stagger the most effective playstyle?

Game itself is great but sure as ♥♥♥♥ won't recommend it to anyone cause it's clear as day that activision much rather would decide to throw the franchise further down the dump instead of actually adding content that their playerbase would support.

Aside from it already being a p2p game they've decided that they needed to increase their revenue further so they added further p2w aspects to the game. DO NOT BUY THIS GAME

It's a great game, but it has a few MAJOR flaws.

The gameplay loop is really fun, you run around looting and killing, extracting and Dropping back in and that's basically the simplicity of the gameplay loop. The game is very heavily inspired by Escape from Tarkov but unlike the realistic route that EFT has taken, The Cycle is ALOT more arcade like making it much friendlier to newer players of the genre.

The visuals also look very good.

Though for some EFT players the Time to kill can make this game borderline unplayable, when you tap someone in the head and assume you've done alot of dmg with a AR but in reality you've dealt like 15 dmg can make the game feel very bad if you have the typical EFT mindset of just head,eyes killing everyone.
In The Cycle you really need to spray if u need to run with rifles.

something else that can make the game quite uncomfortable to play is that due to the longer TTK, it's alot harder to go solo against multiple opponents, however the players in The Cycle are alot more friendlier (atleast for now) than the EFT community so even if you're running solo against a squad u have a good chance of surviving if you try communicating with them.

However

the AI monster animations are subpar at best, they sometimes just slide across the ground when doing melee attacks (i assume they're supposed to be lunge attacks but they don't telegraph them at all at times, making it literally impossible to avoid, especially since their lunge seem to register hits somewhere in the middle of them lunging and not when they actually hit you so u can be up on a cliff and still get hit by their melee when they're below u).

Outside of that the absolutely biggest issue is the spawn killing. they either HAVE TO reduce the amount of players on the servers, making less people spawn in, set something up so people can't drop in if someone's close to the spawn point or remove the persistence servers.
I'd say that in about every 2 or 3 games i have the chance to spawn kill someone cause they drop in either right ahead or right behind me.
