The game seems to have had an extremely rocky pre-release history which has marred its review standing. However, how does the game hold up now that it's released?

Well it's a pretty damn fun and satisfying Tower Defense. And that's all it should be. Much like Trendy's Dungeon Defenders 2, OMD!U has cut off its unnecessary MOBA bits and seeks to deliver a strictly cooperative experience. Unlike DD2 it actually manages to be fast-paced and fun to play. While this may be disappointing to those who wanted an OMD MOBA, some competitive elements still remain in the Sabotage game mode, but overall I don't expect that to be sufficient for them.

The free to play model is not entirely balanced. There are two kinds of currency, Gold and Skulls. Gold is the paid premium currency and Skulls are the earned game currency. And Skulls can be bought with Gold. Not gonna try to sugar coat it, the bottom line is that you can in fact buy power in this game. This is not to say that the game is unenjoyable for those who wish to avoid spending money on it, but money will take you a long way.

Despite the pay model, I do think the game is still great fun if one chooses to spend nothing. Collecting the various characters and traps, seeing how they interact with each other, and just utterly decimating the hordes of enemies approaching your grillspace(literally) is just a joy.

So, they've done away with their "Free Mode" system and the game is now entirely free to play. The model seems pretty standard and reasonable. Playing matches, gaining Season Levels, completing dailies and challenges earn you a currency called Flux which you can use to unlock Freelancers. Leveling up gets you Loot Matrices which function the same way as Overwatch's Lootboxes. They contain Skins, Player Banner Customizations, and GG Boosts(EXP/Credit boosters). If you do not wish to engage with the Free to Play aspects, you can skip it entirely by paying $30 to unlock all the current Freelancers as well as all future ones.

As someone who had some issues with the prior "Free Mode" this update has pretty much erased all my qualms with the game.

As for the gameplay, it's an excellent Turn-Based Strategy game akin to XCOM with the little twist in that everyone's actions resolve at the same time. It's fun, challenging, and really tests your ability to read everyone's actions.

As it is now, I highly recommend it. Unfortunately, Trion Worlds doesn't exactly have the best track record. Their poor practices could very quickly cause the game to go into a downwards spiral as they have done again and again. But I'm not here to talk about an uncertain future. The question is "Do you recommend this game?" and in it's current state, that's a yes.

Pretty good game. Has my "Best Use of a Farm Animal" Award nomination.

Okay. So this. This is one of the best ELVNs I have ever had the (dis?)pleasure of reading. Hell, let's drop "ELVN" it's up there with some of my favorite VNs in general.

I went into it, skeptical. There are a lot of awful VNs on Steam. Why would this one be different? Sure the reviews were strangely positive, but even so, I went into with a slightly negative attitude and began jeering at characters that I didn't think I'd ever like, at writing I thought was sloppy, at humor I didn't think was funny.

5 hours went by quickly. I was shocked. At some point all those things crumbled and I was thoroughly immersed. I grew to like every character, even the ones I especially expected to hate. The writing had become surprisingly competent, and I grew to love the banter between the characters.

I took a break. Reading it for 5 hours straight was absolutely not my intention. I decided to take a break and finish it the next day.

And I once again got absolutely stuck reading it to completion without a break. Everything just kept getting better and better and worse and worse and finally, I arrived at the ending. Which...wow. And I found out This was merely the common route and that there's more to come?!?! And now, here I am writing this somewhat incoherent review.

I am absolutely blown away. As many others have mentioned this should NOT be free. It is an injustice that this is free when there are so many other laughably awful VNs cluttering Steam that cost money.

Anyway, I love this. And I hate this. 10/10. I absolutely cannot wait to see what Fallen Snow Studios has in store for the future.

I REALLY wanted this to surprise me, but it ended up being completely and utterly predictable.

I was able to guess the plot in its entirety, just reading the description on the store page. Like really. It's not even a little subtle.

The two characters were rather flat, and their dialogue dry. Very little happens until the SHOCKING TWIST at the end. And while I don't disagree with the ultimate message of the game, I think this was a really awful way to present it and it felt very tacked on. There were also maybe only 3 tracks in the entire thing which made the music a bit grating and repetitive than it should be.

HOWEVER. I appreciate what it tried to do, it only took me a few minutes to read through, and...well...it's free, so can I REALLY complain?

And here's where I'm conflicted as hell. It's very obvious this was the work of a very small group of people. Perhaps it's even a one man show. It REALLY hurts me to not recommend this game since VNs are a medium that I absolutely love and I do want this developer to keep working on stuff in the future.

But what's being asked of me is, "Do you recommend this game?"

And I cannot say Yes.

Regardless, I hope the developers keep at it and wow me with their next project.

This is a game about rectangles. It is probably the most heartwarming game about rectangles you will play.

The rectangles unfortunately do not have hats which detract from the game. There is even an achievement that acknowledges this. (Which begs the question of "Why didn't they just add some hats?!")

Still, the story makes up for its lack of hats.

Man...I don't even know where to start with Chivalry. I just...I love it so much. Every time I play, it gets my heart racing and my hands shaking. I am currently writing this after a 30 minute session and I am bouncing in my chair like a crazy person because the adrenaline hasn't worn off yet.

I'm just so immersed in the fight, it's crazy. There aren't many games I can say that about. I just LOVE the Chivalry experience so much. The combat is fun, fast, and highly responsive. Every swing, every cut, it just feels so personal and satisfying. I'm constantly bobbing in my chair playing this game. I really, really, really just love it.

If you like RANDOM SCREAMING FOR NO REASON OTHER THAN THE FACT THAT YOU CAN, being a FAKE MEDIEVAL MAN fighting in a FAKE MEDIEVAL WAR and DESECRATING THE CORPSES OF THE SLAIN, this is ABSOLUTELY the game for you.

The only thing missing is a larger helmet selection. Currently there are only 2 alternate helmets for each class. One of them is the kickstarter one, which is unfortunately no longer available. The other is a more recently added "Veteran Helmet" which is obtained by gaining all of a respective class's unlocks. Hopefully they'll keep adding more helmets which will make Chivalry the bestest game ever.

10/10.

Scribblenauts is a game about writing words. The words you write will be created. You can use this to solve puzzles if you're lame. If you're not you will create a pile of hats, wear them all, laugh gleefully, then force a ninja hamster to fight against a samurai cactus. There will be people caught in the crossfire. Lots of people. After this, you will call forth the 4 horsemen of the apocalypse to clean up any survivors. Having experienced the greatest thing ever you will then probably die yourself.

After that you can do puzzles I guess.

Why are you even reading this anyway? You either love Scribblenauts or you think its a poorly executed gimmick. If you like Scribblenauts this is for you. I obviously love Scribblenauts.

But even if you don't like Scribblenauts it has all the hats. All of them.

And with the new Object Creator, if there's a hat that doesn't exist you can MAKE YOUR OWN HAT. Then you can upload it to the Steam Workshop so everyone can experience the glory that is YOUR HAT.
