I have played several space sims so far, and this one it the nicest looking by a long shot. Mechanically, the game is a masterpiece. Combat has never been so challenging yet still fun. What is lacking though, is a sense of purpose to continue. There is little one can hope to achieve in the realm of long term goals. Essentially every interaction is very "grind heavy" for a lack of a better work. What I will leave off with is that Elite Dangerous is very much like an old school grind heavy MMO in scope, but mechanically is a masterpiece. I would recommend it to anybody who is interested in space sims or space games in general.
