Genuinely the worst multiplayer shooter right now. The game has been on a sharp decline ever since Overwatch 2 was introduced and 6v6 was removed in favor of a much worse 5v5 form factor.

The tank class doesn't make sense anymore, going from actually being centered towards defending your teammates to becoming nothing more than a glorified DPS. It's easily the most overpowered class because there can only be one tank player in a team, however that makes matches usually depend solely on the skill of the tank player. It's tiring to lose repeatedly just because you were matched with a much worse tank than the enemy team.

Changing the team form factor is however far from the only wrong thing Blizzard did to Overwatch 2. The game was actually still pretty enjoyable during the first few seasons, but everything went wrong when they buffed every hero's hp and gave everyone the ability to regenerate. Overwatch was starting to resemble something more of a MOBA with focus drawn away from support players, making teamfights much less chaotic in a bad and unfun way. Newer heroes released since the start of Overwatch 2 barely add anything to the experience and feel like a far cry from the original iconic characters in both abilities and aesthetics. With the exception of Kiriko, every new released hero has a much worse design and tend to be forgettable for the most part with their ties to the game's lore being almost nonexistent.

However none of these problems that I've mentioned hold a candle to the real culprit that completely killed the game: the matchmaking. Undoubtedly the worst matchmaking and competitive system in any popular game ever released. There have been plenty of videos released already proving without a doubt that, when it comes to competitive, Overwatch 2 is rigged and forces a maximum 50% win rate, also making it much easier for newer accounts than for older accounts to reach high ranks. This is something I've noticed in my over 500 hours of playing and many pointed this out as well. There have never been another game where you either lose terribly, having only the most intellectually challenged teammates or you win easily, making you wonder if the enemy team is comprised of bots. It's neither balanced nor fun and the constant toxic changes to the meta make competitive a torturous experience. Never have I seen another game where you can one day log in, play matches and end up having a 15 match lose streak just for the next day to win every game. It's not about skill anymore, it's a proven fact that if the game wants you to lose you will lose and if it wants you to win you will win.

The recent Classic 6v6 event made me understand just how much the game got worse over the years. The original Overwatch was more chaotic, less tryhard, less toxic and enemies actually died when you shot them. Now every teamfight takes a ton because players barely die if the healers are competent and everything is centered around playing counters to the enemy team's heroes, having a "rock paper scissors" meta where 3 tanks are viable and counter each other. I've recently tried to get back into playing ranked competitive only to find out the game is completely dead after the release of Marvel Rivals. It takes well over 4 minutes to find a single match just to lose it in 6-8 minutes and start over. Whether I win or lose, even when playing with friends, just feels like RNG now and instead of fixing the game, Blizzard only focuses on releasing overpriced cosmetics to squeeze the last drops of cash before the game inevitably dies in the next 1-2 years. As I'm writing this I've been on a lose streak of 6 matches just to win the next 3 way too easy. The matchmaking is completely broken and endorsement levels might as well not exist. If you're thinking of starting playing this trash in 2025 just take my advice and don't.

Unfortunately Steam won't let me give a neutral review so I still give it a positive, but man does the DLC have some serious problems... I'm gonna shortly list out the positives then focus more on the negatives since they actually overshadow the good parts and ruin what could have been the best FromSoftware DLC.

Let's start with the positives: it's a huge expansion of the base game and if you like Elden Ring then you're also gonna like the DLC for the most part. The map is huge and really well crafted, the locations look amazing and legacy dungeons feel really good to explore. The main bosses are also great with a few exceptions, although I still believe the boss quality has gone down a bit from Dark Souls 3 and npc quests are pretty cool and contribute to the story and lore.

With all that said, the negatives are nothing to scoff at. First off by far the worst thing FromSoftware has ever done is to introduce the new Scadutree fragments just to add a new pointless sense of progression to the game reminiscent of a mediocre Ubisoft title. They aren't just some random buffs that you can get, but a requirement to progress forward. The damage and hp values of enemies are overinflated to the point that any basic enemy can two-shot you unless you've collected enough stupid fragments to raise your stats and the benefits they bring are gigantic. However collecting them couldn't have been any worse, they are basically 50 items scattered throughout the map that you have to meticulously find and god forbid you miss one because you're gonna have to check very location just to find it. It's even worse than mainstream triple A games where you have to find stupid collectibles and watch tutorials on how to get them since in this DLC they are mandatory. It doesn't matter that you're already end game with a complete build of level 150 because you're gonna have to immediately take an optimized route to get as much Scadutree fragments as possible before even attempting to fight any bosses, otherwise you're gonna be underpowered and die in 3 hits at most and believe me because it took me around 30 tries to defeat the Dancing Lion as my first boss fight while I only had Scadutree upgrades at level 3 and didn't use any summons. I would've given up if the boss fight wasn't so good.

The second huge problem the DLC has is recycled content. Most of the enemies you encounter are already in the base game or have just slight modifications to them and don't even get me started on the bosses. Who thought having yet another Ulcerated Tree Spirit (worst boss in the base game) was a good idea? Ghostflame Dragons are incredibly lazy design as basic dragon fights already sucked and this is just a reskin of those. Death Rite Birds are some of the most hated field bosses yet here they are again in the DLC... Magma Wyrm, Demi-human Queen, Tree Sentinels and Fallingstar Beast are mediocre fights brought back for no reason. Ancient Dragon Senessax may just be the worst boss in the entire game, nothing but a huge bullet sponge of a tank with overly inflated damage values capable of killing you in two hits unless you've progressed extremely much and gathered all the stupid Scadutree fragments. Lastly at least 3 boss fights are just NPCs which constitutes lazy game design and out of all the enemies they could've brought back from Dark Souls 3 they chose the ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ flies...

As closing thoughts I want to say that I still think the DLC is good and worth the money, but this certainly isn't FromSoftware at their peak. Elden Ring and it's DLC are a solid addition to their collection of games and from many points of view they are definitely the best games, but still suffer from a lot of problems and after playing their games for years I've reached the conclusion that they still don't know the strenghts and weaknesses of their games and continue to make the same mistakes. I didn't mention performance issues in the review because I think they'll be fixed soon, but as of right now the game runs worse than Bloodborne even on low settings in certain areas because of bad optimization. I hope nobody gets mad from this review, it's just my opinion.

Absolutely killed by updates. Version 1.2.2.26RC was by far the best. It's incredibly hard and frustrating for no reason and it's nearly impossible to win runs on hard or abyssal difficulty but somehow that's ok because you can customize enemy encounters and the items you get... There's a ton of stupid mechanics like the warrior statue and way too much customizability. I just want to play and have fun winning runs without having to ban certain item picks or change annoying enemies for less annoying ones. Not to mention the visual on-screen clutter making visibility extremely poor sometimes and also Cursed Ares and Athena are borderline unfair. There was a time when I genuinely enjoyed this game, but ever since the Version 1.25 update I can't help but feel like it's a waste playing this since there are so many better roguelikes.

Definitely the scariest RPG Maker game of all time. It has incredible atmosphere, great character art and well thought story and lore. It's incredibly punishing and sometimes a bit unfair but it adds to the horror element. You can truly never feel safe, always having the anxiety that something bad will come your way and kill you or your party members.
