My Current Review: Creation Club is PAID MODS. And I hate it!

So I've waited a long time before I wrote this review, because I wanted to be sure that I've done and saw most of the base game. What can I say? Well the game is massive, it has a big map, it has massive amounts of different ranged and melee weapons which you can mod to Oblivion (praise the Nine Divines!!). There is just so much to do that you'll lose yourself in it in no time. The main was extremely interesting to me personally and I really got the feels at the end, even though a lot of people wouldn't agree with the strength of the story, I still maintain that it has a great story with a lot of interesting characters.

So yeah the hype leading up to the release of the game kinda made Fallout 4 almost fall apart even before the game was released. When we saw the "in-engine" trailer people literally hit the fan screaming "WHAT'S with the bad graphics????" and stuff like that, but honestly the game is big step forward from Fallout 3 (or New Vegas, but they both use literally the same engine...). People are saying that it's still the Gamebryo engine, which actually isn't true, Bethesda maybe used some of the code from Gamebryo engine but they did do their own stuff, which was already apparent in Skyrim, but people tend to just say "Bah... it's still gamebryo...". Anyway graphically it's not the best, but it's definitely not the worst, and we've become accustomed to the best as The Witcher 3 raised the bar so high that Fallout 4 just couldn't reach it. The effects are excellent, the lighting is superb, and the quality of some textures especially the guns are great. Honestly the graphics engine does its job, that being conveying the post apocalyptic world to the player. The graphics engine isn't perfect, but even now (not even a year after release) and there are so many mods that will make your game look even better, with better everything. Also the animations are WAY better than in any previous Bethesda game, I mean they're still funny and unnatural some times but definitely a step forward.

OK so we've come to the elephant in the room the R in RPG, and the fact many people are saying that Fallout 4 isn't a role playing game any-more... And well I super disagree with this. You still have massive amounts of freedom, you talk to people, you have the freedom to do things the way you want, even though it's to a lesser degree then in previous games, and I really missed doing things without violence, because the situations where a non violent resolution is possible are far and few in between. The fact they made the gun play massively better doesn't mean they removed the RPG elements from Fallout, they HAVEN'T! As for the voice acting and the voiced protagonists I LOVED them! I know that people like to not have a voiced protagonist in their Bethesda games, to make role-playing easier, but it didn't bother me at all! Brian, Courtenay and all the other voice actors did a great job, and the years of recording really show in the end result. The soundtrack composed by Inon Zur made a really big impact on me and a lot of times I just turned off the Radio and listened to the background music while I played because the OST is just so damn good! My only quarrel is probably with the radio, I would have really liked more music and less music recycled from Fallout 3, because my god there are SO MANY good artists from that time they could have used.

So to wrap this up, Fallout 4 is a great RPG game, they took chances with some decisions like the voiced protagonists, the conversation system(which I don't like... Seriously Bethesda what's wrong with like a Mass Effect styled 6 choice wheel???), and the new S.P.E.C.I.A.L. system which I actually LIKE quite a lot, I mean I love adding numbers to skills as much as the other guy, but I like the level up special poster. The game has its faults, but it does a lot more right then it does wrong, so I would highly recommend you to play it.
