Where to start with Resident Evil 5. Let's start with the negatives, shall we? A regular human trying to naviagate resident evil 5's inventory system has about the same success rate as Stephen Hawking trying the 100m sprint, every boss fight boils down to shooting obvious glowing nodes on a tentacle monstrosity; after all, what can you expect, it's japan (casual racism). Quick time events often started with no warning to the player(s) and were sprinkled into the cutscenes like pubes onto a pizza, to the same distasteful effect. In addition, you cannot interact with pickups on the ground, nor can you reclaim discarded items. Also horredous racist overtones throughout, though most noticable during the first 3rd of the game. Lastly, as you approached the end of the game, a lot of the weapons you had find completely redundant as most players will have already upgraded their current weapons to standards way higher than these new weapons. The game doesn't tell you the stats of the weapons until the next inventory management screen (which normally comes at the end of every chapter). This results in you picking up a weapon that is absolutely h*rseshit so it sits in your inventory taking up space like an unwanted elderly relative.

Now, for the good. And there is plenty of good.
*deep inhale* Hugely entertaining, especially the co-op side. There wasn't a moment when me and my mate weren't chuckling as we kicked a zombie down a flight of stairs and watched it magestically fly through the air. The combat sticks to the classic resident evil formula, forcing you to stay stationary while firing. Newcomers might find this irritating at first, but fans of the series will not be peturbed and overall it keeps the tension high during fights. Talking about the formula, despite any critisism to the contrary, resident evil 5 does a good job of upholding series cliches like fabulously camp writing, documents the size of your mum, and ludicrously predictable encounters and plot points.

All in all, I'd rate it a 7 out of 10. All around good experience, especially with a friend. Most of the critisisms don't stay obnoxious for long and it makes for a fabulous game. Yummy.

A truly dearest brother, who despite not sharing blood with me, is always there in times of need. Thank you, Dandy Chad.
