Despite its shortcomings it is overall a fun experience that's not to be left out, if you're a fan of Resident Evil. The game is one step up from RE4 regarding the ACTION aspect of the game, and more than one step down from the traditional SURVIVAL HORROR gameplay.
It basically plays like a RE-themed action game from that period, more than once reminiscent of Tomb Raider.

Sometimes it's a cover shooter, other times you're being assaulted by some mutated monsters and chainsaw guys. I have the impression the developers couldn't decide what the game was supposed to be, and went for a "everything at once!" approach.

It does however wrap up the "Wesker" story arc and add some background information to Umbrella, including the "progenitor" virus strain, that was originally discovered in Africa.

I heavily recommend playing it with another human player, as there will be some annoyances if you are playing it alone, like me. Generally simple AI behaviour, you have to fully manage both character's inventory (including swapping items back and forth a lot) and regularly restart the game because the other character died.

If you plan to play it alone I recommend to save yourself some hassle and play it on NORMAL instead of VETERAN difficulty.

The controls are also clunky and it is generally an underwhelming port to the PC. 180-degree-turn can't be remapped (it's shift-s and you already run around with shift, so it happens alot), the camera has a life of its own, and a few more annoyances. Maybe a gamepad would be better, even on PC.

I do overall recommend it for any FANS, anyone who wants to explore the story of the RE universe, or as s CO-OP "action" game.

Mostly a walking simulator with a few puzzles and several mindf**k situations. It does the dystopian and psychological horror part well. I did enjoy my ride.

While I haven't played the original on the GameCube, I played many, many Survival Horror games in my life. This seems to be most likely the best version of this game, to play in 2025. Widescreen, tank controls are optional, HD graphics and a few more quality of life improvements.
It's the only Resident Evil game that does away with the item boxes and has you spread your inventory on the floor instead. Which was a questionable idea at best.
Having two characters and being able to switch back and forth between them is a more fun mechanic though.

I play through SURVIVAL HORROR games regularly for my YouTube channel, even original ones on original soft- and hardware. So it's no surprise that I also played through this one, and you can check the video out here if you want: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ygdJWijzuVM

As someone who hasn't played the original, but regularly plays RETRO horror and survival horror games, this look like a pretty good remake. There's a few things here and there that could have been better, but I enjoyed my experience and even consider playing the original some day.

I played the game in "easy" mode, which basically is a more modern version of those classic Point & Click Adventure games. If you come across an interactable object, it now uses the correct item, if you have it, instead of you having to try every single item you possess.

My biggest gripe with the game is that you can't bind some items (like the pistol) to a hotkey, but have to scroll through your whole inventory to select it. Which can be a little problematic when you get charged by one of those entities.

The puzzles weren't difficult or unfair, the atmosphere was pretty good, the graphics are sometimes a little dated (character models), but I can overall recommend it.

I played through the whole game for my YouTube channel, and you can check the video out here if you want: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HF--6sNwty8

Pixel-Art, isometric Action-RPG and RogueLike in one. The vast majority of the time is spent fighting enemies, and only a small part in the village. It serves as a base to level up, trade weapons and armor, get buffs for future runs, and more.
You always keep your weapons and armor, but each run you get new trinkets and upgrades, which change how your skills work, or add new abilities. You gather ressources to upgrade your village, add new buildings or buy new gear at the shops in the village.
If you die, you lose 40% of your ressources, and everything but your level, experience, weapons and armor.

Well done, atmospheric SURVIVAL HORROR game reminiscent of the classics from the past. Tank controls, fixed camera angles and combat which seems right out of the first Resident Evil. The Mute House features auto aim, but also a laser pointer that you can activate to deal shots to weak spots such as heads. There's also an unlimited flashlight toggle, atmospheric music, an immersive story and boss fights. The game is about 5 hours long.

As a little bit of a SURVIVAL HORROR affectionado I play lots of the games of old, and did really enjoy playing through this one as well. You can check my Let's Play out here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bMTwrBp2bzg&list=PLY3_NBKmgDuiIc_t3NzTnYm3UE-XMzpAI

Beside a few pathing errors of your squad members (nothing gamebreaking), it is a smooth and solid experience. Good old no-bs 3rd person action, short atmospheric cut scenes, multiple weapons and items and generally many things reminiscent of the movie. Including a few easter eggs (especially at the end).

I played through the game, made a video with chapters for everything, and you're very welcome to watch here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rS7LiEVxes8

Fun game if you enjoy Point & Click Adventures in a pixelated "Dungeon Crawler" aesthetic!

I played the game for about 2 hours at this point, and you can check my first impressions out here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rF9SQ88ld8Q

Early Access Review
Cozy little village builder with little to no micro-managing, regular events in which make choices, and where over time a purple bar (the mysterious Waelgrim) fills up, and then something good or bad can happen. You pick a region, and within that you settle, but can also expand to other regions, which can trade resources with each other.

The choices you make are usually good, bad or something else (money) and come with a few lines of texts, somewhat like a story.

Has some issues with controls and big overlapping text that some comic images have been unlocked, but nothing game breaking. Overall recommended.
