Awesomenauts is a variation on the MOBA style, except it is played in an objective 2D mode. This is seen in every screenshot of the game on the Steam store. The teams (for now) are all 3v3, which makes it much easier to keep track of who is good, and learn other characters while you learn the one you are playing.

There are a few maps, I'd say around 6 in the base game with a few more added in the expansion.

The thing that sets awesomenauts apart from other MOBAs is there are no items. Each hero has two base spells. Now, that sounds not very complicated, but each spell has 6-8 "powerups" that you can choose THREE from at the beginning of the game. Each of these powerups have 3 level ups that go throughout each match.

This MOBA is much easier to get into than the other games in it's genre, and still has the same addiction factor. I've played 4-6 of the 'nauts and I have somewhere around 20 hours in the game. I play it to master a certain hero and then move to the next once I have a good grasp on the hero, so that is in no way indicitive of my experience in the game.

I've found a few characters to be frustrating to play with/against, but it's usually because early-level vs late-game strengths. Each game is pretty short (20-30 mins) so it is fast paced. I've found it incredible how far you can be behind and still come back if you play smart.

Very fun game to play with friends! Definitely pick up a 4 pack or whatever and spread the joy :)
