Heya folks, Shaun here, and I’m back with a new review! In this one, I’ll be covering the 2010 indie horror game Amnesia: The Dark Descent by Frictional Games.

I’ve owned Amnesia: The Dark Descent for numerous years, now, but in all of my previous attempts to complete the game, I wound up stopping at act II because I didn’t find the game particularly interesting. It took me nearly 16 years, but I finally completed the game. The game is very slow at the start of the game and it doesn’t get truly interesting until late into Chapter 2 and into Chapter 3. I’ve been in the mood for exploration based horror games of late, as you may have noticed from my other recent reviews, and I wound up deciding to finally complete the game.

Amnesia: The Dark Descent is a first person, exploration based, horror game that has you exploring Brennanburg Castle as a man named Daniel. At the start of the game, he drinks an amnesia potion, and after finding a note to yourself, it is revealed that you must kill the game’s main antagonist Alexander. There is also a being known as The Shadow that is hunting Daniel and the shadow’s influence affects the game world, making it a hostile place to explore. The shadow’s influence grows each time Daniel blacks out, which happens numerous times over the course of the game. You’ll also have to watch out for Alexander’s minions as well, which are known as Grunts. They patrol the various areas of the game, and will kill you if they see you.

The game’s story is told through narration by Daniel whenever you find a page from his diary. There are numerous diary pages throughout the game to find, and each one fills in more backstory as to the events that have taken place within the castle.

It’s also worth mentioning that the game only offers hints as to what you should be doing or where you need to go next. There’s also no map to the castle to consult if you get lost, so there’s often a bit of aimless wandering around as you figure out which way to go or where items are located. A lot of key items are also well hidden as well and they require you to search every nook and cranny for hidden objects. This is part of the reason I didn’t really enjoy the game in my previous attempts. Largely because I don’t really enjoy aimless wandering around. I wound up using a guide this time around and I enjoyed the experience a lot more.

The game also has three separate endings but your actions throughout the game have no effect on the outcome. You simply get to choose which one you want in the final area of the game. Which, ironically is the easiest part of the game.

You’ll also have to rely on stealth through much of the game, because there’s no combat. The grunts can easily take you out if they see you and you try to run away, so it’s a better idea to find somewhere to hide until the monsters go away.

Another aspect of the game you’ll need to watch out for is Daniel’s sanity, which decreases when in the dark for too long, if you stare at the grunts for too long, or interacting with specific items. His sanity increases at key parts of the game, or when you do something correctly.

Overall, having finally completed the game, I think the game was a lot of fun. Especially in the latter portions of the game where avoiding the grunts became more imperative, and the world became more hostile. I will admit that I didn’t find the game all that scary (I’m immune to horror), but I still enjoyed the experience greatly. If you haven’t played/completed the game yet, I definitely recommend doing so. It may not be the prettiest game these days, but it is a thrilling one. If I were to rate the game, I’d give it an 8 out of 10.

Pros:

Very Thrilling Experience, Especially in the Latter Portions of the Game
Excellent Atmosphere, and Haunting Audio (Best experienced with Headphones)
Has An Interesting Backstory

Cons:

The Game’s Horror Elements Lose A Lot of Its Power Once You Realize That The Grunts Often De-spawn From Areas If You Hide Long Enough So You Can Explore Worry Free Most of the Time
Lots of Aimless Wandering Around, Which Was My Least Favorite Part of the Game
It’s Very Slow To Get Going. Doesn’t Get Truly Interesting Until Late Chapter 2 and into Chapter 3

Heya folks, Shaun here, and I’m back with my latest review! In this one, I’m covering a 2025 indie shoot ’em up style arcade game called Mix It! Reloaded by T3ampo and Bear Sneeze.

The developer originally contacted me a couple weeks ago to feature the game on my channels, and I agreed. They recently got in touch with me again to feature their latest major update, titled “Revolutions” which adds an early version of their new Endless Mode, and it introduces three new enemy types. It also adds a colorblind mode, and a few individual audio sliders.

Mix It! Reloaded is an arcade style shoot ’em up style game that also acts as an educational game as well. The game’s theme is based on the concept of light and how it affects different colors. The game is largely aimed at kids, because I learned about this topic in elementary school when I was a kid. So, adults may find the subject matter a tad simple. But for young children just learning about this stuff, it’s actually a pretty solid way to teach them about it, and possibly get them interested in shoot ’em up arcade games as well.

There’s no story to the game, and is largely level based. The game is split into 3 different areas, each of which have 3 separate levels for you to complete. Each area focuses on a different topic, and these topics have an effect on the overall gameplay in each level. The levels start off simple but get to be a decent challenge in the 3rd level.

The new endless mode is situated in a new Experimental Mode on the main menu. Since this mode is new, and it’s still an early version of it, it still has things to improve upon and change. This mode introduces new enemy types including a snake enemy, a ship enemy, and a mine. Each one varies in difficulty to take down but they all add another layer to the gameplay. It also makes the gameplay a lot more varied and fun to play as well, and I personally think the endless mode is currently my favorite mode in the game so far. I found the story mode a tad simple, but endless mode offers some challenge, as staying alive for long periods of time becomes difficult as the game continually speeds up.

The game also has different colored ships, which have different types of colored bullet types. These different colored ships effect the gameplay differently depending on the area of the game you’re playing in. As an example, in endless mode, you need to fire at multi-colored asteroids with the opposite color bullet/ship in order to destroy it and earn points. Which adds to the difficulty of the mode.

Overall, Mix It! Reloaded may not be a game you’re familiar with (It doesn’t have many reviews on Steam, as of writing this), but I do find it pretty fun. The story mode is probably going to be a tad too simple for adults, but the new endless mode is a ton of fun. The story mode is great for young children, though, and I think the game would work as a way to get kids interested in the genre as well. So, I’d give it a recommendation, it’s a pretty fun game. If I were to rate the game, I’d give it a 7 out of 10. Definitely looking forward to seeing how it changes and improves with future updates.

Pros:

The Story Mode Is Great For Young Children Who May Be Just Getting Into This Subject
Might Work Well As An Introductory Game To the Genre
Endless Mode Is A Ton Of Fun, And Can Be A Decent Challenge
The Light/Color Based Gameplay Is Pretty Unique
Is Colorful and the Artwork For The Characters/Ships/Asteroids Looks Nice

Cons:

The Story Mode Is A Tad Simple For Adults Or Those That Are Familiar With The Subject Matter/Genre
The Game Only Has One Song For Its Gameplay, Which Is Catchy At First, But It Does Get Repetitive To Listen To After Playing For A Decent Amount of Time.

Heya folks, I played through the demo today at the request of the developer and wanted to a add my thoughts on it.

I thought the demo was quite interesting, and I honestly kinda enjoy the slow pace of it. It's oddly relaxing, but it's also something that's pretty familiar to me, as there are times when I have to edit some of my screenshots and videos, so using the photo editing software to find ghosts was immediately familiar to me. I also found the editor itself quite simple, so much so that I felt even a beginner could understand it.

Looking for the ghosts was quite fun too, I managed to find 5 out of the X in total. The apparitions, and spectral images were the easiest to find, because they're the most noticeable. The unexplained phenomena and simulacra were the toughest, because I wasn't really sure what I was looking for even after reading the guide. I imagine most of my misses were in the late stage of the game where these became more common as I didn't really notice anything out of the ordinary in many of the last few.

I also had some performance issues in the walking simulator sections where if I was standing still the frame rate would be stable at 120fps, but if I moved the camera, the frame rate would instantly drop to 60 and under. Was quite strange. It happened worst in Eli's bedroom, usually near the lights of his computer desk or near the light coming in through his window.

Outside of that, I thought it was an interesting first look at the game, and I'm happy to have given it a shot.

Early Access Review
Heya folks, I haven't played this game a whole lot yet but I love it so much so far that I wanted to give it a recommendation.

As someone who is absolutely abysmal at chess, even I find this game incredibly addicting, and a lot of fun to play. It's essentially a dungeon crawling puzzle game with chess rules and roguelike progression. To win, you either need to checkmate the opposing king, or eliminate all of the opposing king's pieces in the dungeon level. You do this by placing, and moving, different chess pieces, and they all have their strengths and weakneesses.

One thing that I'm really glad is included is the hint system, and the option to see dangerous moves on the dungeon maps. This makes playing the game a lot more fun for me, as someone who isn't as adept at chess. I definitely would have missed a lot of checkmate moves without it, for sure.

In short, this game is great, and can 100% be enjoyed with even a passing knowledge of how chess works. If you know what the pieces do, and their movesets, then you'll be able to play this game no problem.

Heya folks, so, I played through, and completed, Bendy and the Dark Revival back in 2023, and only just recently picked up this first game. I'm happy to have finally gotten to play the game that started the Bendy series, of which I became an instant fan after playing through the Dark Revival. I didn't find the game scary in the least bit (Horror games don't have any real effect on me, even though I love them), but I did find it highly entertaining. I'll be eagerly awaiting the Ink Factory, and I'm looking forward to the conclusion of the trilogy. I highly recommend Bendy and the Ink Machine, and the entire series has become a big favorite of mine.

Heya folks, I just finished this visual novel, and wanted to add my recommendation for it.

I really enjoyed the story to this one. The writing was quite good and I thought the artwork was great too. I also thought The monochrome art suits the story really well. It's only 2h long so it's a quick and easy read. Gladly recommended.

If I were to rate it, I'd give it an 8 out of 10.

Heya folks, I just finished the game and wanted to add a short review.

I've been playing this game off and on for quite a few years now. This time around I finally decided to play through the rest of my game in progress. I wound up having a lot of fun with the game. The graphics hold up pretty well for a game from 2008, especially the backgrounds and art for the battle scenes. I wound up using invincibility using CheatEngine, but I changed up my squad pretty frequently. By the end of the game I was using a bunch of dragons, which was pretty awesome.

If I were to rate the game, I'd give it a 7.5/10. Would gladly recommend it if you're a fan of isometric tactical rpgs.

Heya folks, I've finally beaten the game and I wanted to add a short review for the game.

If I were to give this game a rating, it'd probably be a 6.8/10. It can be a bit janky in places, like horse movement, the voice acting is so-so (A lot of it felt half-hearted and like the actors weren't really interested), and the overall writing is so-so as well. The game's combat system is relatively simplistic, and since you lose units a lot, you have to backtrack to unit sellers frequently, which makes things kinda repetitive.

Despite its drawbacks, I still found the game relatively fun, but I did find that the game is a lot more fun if you use invincibility (I used WeMod), because it alleviates a lot of the issues I had with the game.

So, I'd probably give this a mixed review if I was able to, but I gave it a recommendation because I did enjoy it in the end. The game ends on a major cliffhanger though, and I'm not sure if there will be a sequel to the game, so that's another thing to consider.

Heya folks, so, I've completed this game's career mode, in both MX2 and MX1 and I felt I should leave a review. Personally, I actually enjoyed the game, but I will admit that the game can become a little tedious if you play the full weekend. Even doing just the two races mode, can feel a litle tedious as well, so I wound up playing it in short bursts of 2-4 races at a time.

The bike handling on pro handling feels pretty great, and I like that you could "feel" the weight of the bike as you went into turns. The game is definitely starting to show its age, however, because once you move on to one of their newer games, it becomes very apparent how old this game actually feels. That doesn't make it a bad game, however, and if you can look past some of its clunkiness and lack of features compared to the newer entries, you'll enjoy the game, much like I did.

So, I give it a recommendation, it's quite fun, if a bit tedious at times.

Heya folks, so, I just finished this game today, and honestly? I had a blast with it. The narrative is pretty ok, but my favorite part about it was actually the movement and combat system. Combat felt really punchy (I largely used the gauntlet and the whip), and I liked how the speed of battle increased as you gained momentum. Sometimes it could be a bit tough to build up momentum, which makes combat a bit of a chore, but when momentum is high it's mad satisfying.

The sand surfing mechanic was equally satisfying, and I liked the fact that you could air dodge 3 times when the gauntlet has been upgraded, it makes air combat a lot easier and more fun.

In the end, I would gladly recommend the game if you're in the mood to kick the crap out of monsters for a while. It's not super long so it won't wear out its welcome by becoming too repetitive and it's pretty fun to explore too.
