FFB is better than other sims, AI is also very good. good MP community. physics and sim modeling are very good. cant beat the price to try it out, and the packs for car and track packs are all very reasonable. i would not recommend playing with keyboard/mouse. gamepad might be playable, but you really want a wheel and pedals setup. totally worth it.

works very well.

sometimes its not 1:1 perfect to what you can do in game, but its very close, and its much more practical to design something in fortify, and then go to a creative server to verify your build works, than it is to just try and build in the creative server.

The speed limits in the game are just done wrong and its obnoxious.

speed limits through vegas should be like 45, not 30. other small towns have speed limits like 25. where in the US has areas with 25mph speed limits that you regularly see big rigs?

the game also has stupid speed limit changes, its 45, then 5 second later its 80, then 3 seconds later its 55, and you get a ticket. yes, speed traps are a thing, but lets have some player agency please, if player get a ticket, it should be because they choose to speed (had enough time to make the choice and choose to ignore it) not because its literally impossible to obey the speed limits even if you brake as much as humanly possible the second you see the sign. dumb.

AI is still beyond retarded. they will do 45 in a 70. in real life, police would pull that person over and hit them with fines for obstructing traffic. it shouldnt exist in the game, its like these cars are just there to troll the player. good one devs! not.

progression makes no sense. progression should involve some quick small rewards, followed by working your way up through meaningful milestones. instead, the bank wants to give you over half a million bucks on your second day of trucking. enough to hire some drivers, buy some trucks, and immediately retire to the office and just manage! sure. that should be the end goal...not your second day on the job. also the unlocks make no sense, they can be a step back. you can quickly make good money hauling construction equipment...great, do that enough and you can unlock buying a dry box to move your own goods, like...toys...which pays half as much. if you make that mistake, you are better off to sell the box and take the loss.

in game UI is garbage as far as helpful information. there are some tooltips, but they just point to different areas of the screen. "here is where you buy things", "here is the clock", etc. nothing helpful like what the differences between engines, transmissions and chassis are for...there is not enough info for players to make informed choices.

the prices for the states (content) are asinine. they launch states at over $10. there is NOT $10 worth of content, and the game will certainly not be worth ~$500 to get all the states. they should be $0.99 at most. these seem to take forever to make, despite them being nothing but copy/pasted content. you will probably replace your entire computer twice before they actually finish the states. whats even worse, is that with the default states, California totally sucks. 55mph max speed limit... while this is accurate (yes California sucks this much in real life) its totally not worth even playing the game on that part of the map. they should have started development focusing on the East Coast.

pros: driving the trucks feel about how you would expect. if you want to play it for the novelty, maybe its worth it when its on sale for $5 if you plan to never buy any DLC.

cons: speed limits are wrong, speed traps are stupid, AI drivers sucks, Progression is wrong, uninformative tooltips, and the prices for DLC are insulting. they should have called this Highway Robbery Simulator.

BOTTOM LINE: spend $5 at most and prepare yourself for mild disappointment. avoid all DLCs.

EDIT: my advice if you want to play this game, dont buy any of the state DLCs. you can just download a mod called COAST TO COAST (C2C) which unlocks the whole country and fills it with cities made by the community. no reason to buy the overpriced states ever. you can just have the whole country for free right away. you may need to use the steam properties options and set it to use an earlier build of the game, but i got it working fine.

pros: pretty good art, sound/music, the overall look and feel of the game is good, the heros/units are interesting. its a game you might really want to like

cons: the RNG is astronomical. winning games mainly comes down to who gets the most of the same hero units over and over to combine them. three 1 stars become a 2 star, three 2 stars become a 3 star. there is almost nothing you can do to control this. you can try to strategically spend/save gold to get early rolls, or to get more rolls later...but it doesnt really help much if at all.

ultimately playing a match is a decent time waster, and for a free game, thats nothing to complain about, but at the same time, it isnt really satisfying as you dont feel like you control your own destiny. it never feels good to lose because you got unlucky, but it really doesnt feel good to win just because you got lucky either.

typical 'wow-wannabe on rails'.

you can pick a race and class, change how you look, and those seem to be the first and last meaningful choices in the game.

I was hoping for a more "D&D" like MMO...this aint it. id rather have the ability and freedom to make interesting choices, like say a wizard who uses a greatsword, even if its a bad choice. this game lets you pick between a few abilities as you level, but they all seem very similar, and gameplay amounts to button mashing, instead of any kind of intelligent or tactical play.

Id rather just fire up the Neverwinter Nights PC game from 2003. sure, its dated and looks ugly these days, but at least...unlike Neverwinter the MMO, its a D&D game.

CONS:

Update: Steam discussion group moderators are now deleting comments related to the EULA to try and hide the issue. see thread (if mods havnt deleted all evidence of it)

https://steamproxy.com/app/361420/discussions/0/1795152172930408628/

- EULA issues. EULA was changed on release with a number of privacy/data collection issues. the dev changed the EULA again, supposedly removing the issues. I recommend to do your own research and decide what you think about it.

- griefing. you cannot password protect your games or make them solo only. anyone on your steam friends can see and join your game, destroy your base, waste materials, etc. there really isnt anything you can do about it, as the dev failed to implement standard practices for server controls, like passwords. joining someone elses save goes not even require an invite!

- new cave system is worse than the alpha version. too difficult to traverse and use rovers.

- large science/research pods nerfed. it used to be fun to go collect these, now you cant barely find them and its replaced with stupid science fruit everywhere that is easy to collect (not fun to collect) and those barely give any science.

- performance issues, the game can lose FPS and begin to lag after a certain amount of gameplay. tethers may be related to this. it seems worse in MP.

- poor progression system. there is little point in doing things. often, by the time you unlock a tech, you no longer need it. endgame only consists of digging to the center of each planet to unlock cosmetic suits.

- lack of content. prior to release the dev stated they would release a bunch of new content. there is a new tractor, which is basically a nerfed rover, and thats about it. the craftables and vehicles feel like the tip of the iceberg, but then you realise there isnt the rest of the iceberg, thats all you get. the game needs 2x-3x the number of craftables, vehicles, etc.

it can be fun to start a game, but imo, its worth $5-$10. id recommend to pick it up for that price if/when its on sale for that much.

Singleplayer AI is beyond terrible. trying to play the game SP is like ultra stupid ez mode. its not engaging or entertaining in any way, you just steamroll win after win. you already know you will win every game before it starts.

Multiplayer is also awful, the main league has players who exploited game mechanics to get super powerful impossible players and teams. league admins did not restart the league after it was discovered. the entire league standings and records should be invalidated, but they do nothing but sweep it under the rug.

seeing as both singleplayer and multiplayer leagues are garbage, im not sure whats left.

maybe if you have a couple freinds who know how to play BB, you could have private games, but imo, thats not even worth $5 when the game is on sale.

Free Weekend Experience:

install. start game. Join game. join a sqaud, picked grenadier. look at map. start walking. 5 seconds later match ends.

takes about a minute for a new round to load. match starts, look at map. walk to vehicle.

no one can figure out how to get in it, no tooltips, interaction elements of any kind. not even sure if its drivable or just a prop.

someone figures out how to get in. drives over the squad, killing everyone, and doesnt stop. keeps driving.

uninstalled. I'd rather just play ArmA III.
