This game is great. The writing will be discussed for years. There's absurd levels of nuance going on, the characters are spectacularly written, the bugs are mostly minimal, or at least I haven't run into anything crazy personally. The only upsetting part is that there's an end.

I have over 1600 hours in the game. Probably more because that's just the hours I have through steam. Now, that's nothing compared to some of the dedicated streamers, but compared to the average player it's an insane amount of time.

Furthermore I've literally only ever quit one game because it doesn't respect the Player's time enough and that game was Lost Ark. So when I say that the recent changes and the indication for the sort of changes that are coming with 3.20 have managed to put this game on a path to respecting your time *less* than Lost Ark, maybe that's your cue to go check out Last Epoch, Undecember, Torchlight, or literally any other ARPG other than this one. Personally, I've been putting time into Last Epoch when I need to itch the ARPG scratch. That used to be PoE. It will no longer be PoE and without serious changes in the mindset from the devs, I'll probably never touch this game again.

I wouldn't say completely don't play this game, as there's still *some* fun left in it, if you're a new player. But I would say don't spend a single ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ penny on this game and also you need to expect that it's going to require unreasonable time investments for your builds to come to fruition.

Even not counting the fact that it's early access, it already feels like the best ARPG on the market. Has some performance issues, but that's to be expected of early access games. Considering how open and transparent the devs have been regarding development, everything about this game is looking great.

So, game's fun. Story's good, but not overly ambitious, combat is enjoyable.

That said, there's something to be said about having a good functioning UI and this game doesn't have it.
From buff text getting cut off with no way to find out what the missing text was to buggy and unclear menus, and weird overloaded functionality.

and on top of all that, it has the same typical failings of a turn-based RPG. Fights become meaningless later on, but you don't have an easy way to skip trash mobs and resting (which is mostly just a convenient way to replenish mana) respawns all the trash mobs. Also the balance is a bit suspect. Despite getting the legendary weapons for every character, Pyke ended up being the absolute strongest character by a wide mile. And because you don't really have a lot of tools to affect enemy targeting (technically you can taunt, but it costs 10 mana (surprisingly a lot) and it is of varying effectiveness.), you want at least 2 of your characters to be quite tanky.

Which means that your party is basically always Illaoi, Braum, Pyke, except when the game forces you to use someone else. Way too much backtracking for having 0 way to fast travel back to town. Settings like fast run and fast combat untoggle as soon as the game closes.
basically the game is ok, but plagued by a litany of small issues that prevent it from being great.

Similar to STS. You will lose track of time. You have been warned.

Easily one of the best rogue-lites around. And for bonus measure, has all of the amazing character and music you'd expect from Supergiant Games. Another home run from them, imo.
