This game is almost old enough to drink alcohol legally in the USA and it's still better than V and VI. It's the right mixture of casualness and difficulty and the AI isn't hopelessly crippled by the game developers. Wins in this game are hard won and feel deserved.

Works as advertised.

Civilization IV is better. At higher difficulty levels the key to beating the computer in Civ V is to negate their economic advantage by bullying them militarily. The problem is the AI is laughably horrible at placing its armies so you can count on killing them with half their military size, making war extremely overpowered as a winning strategy. You can't win like that in Civ IV. The combat system is meanwhile sort of boring. Do you like the idea of repeatedly challenging and then beating a "special" person at a game of checkers where they receive more pieces than you? Then Civ V is the game for you. To me that's boring.

I quit my career and became homeless because I couldn't come up with a rhyme and I also found a light-bending billionaire in a crate who give me 100 real. I'd say it's pretty good.

It was good for its time, as in extremely good. But nowadays I don't really view it as worthwhile.

No. Valve did a really good job at gradually ruining a previously very good game, and it's kind of a shame. I'm not even talking about the bots or whatever this current hashtag campaign is, but rather all the hats and unique weapons. Having a few cosmetics and a few weapon choices is fine. Once you get to the amount that TF2 has it's just a damn mess. I respect the decision Valve made to mostly stop making games because the current state of TF2 indicates they are lacking core competencies at game development and therefore should stay far away from it for now.

A friend gave me this game for free and it was worth every penny.

Excellent game.

This game feels more like power rangers than XCom to be honest. It breaks my immersion to hear a bunch of alien minion squawking threats at me over the radio.

This game is complex, but it will change your perspective on space colonization and current day nationalism.
