Cool atmosphere but the horror was rather minimal and the gameplay very boring.

The dialogue and writing in this game is some of the worst I've ever experienced in a big AAA game. Barely one likeable character throughout the whole thing, and a visually stunning but incredibly boring open world.
The Sci-Fi stuff can be pretty cool but those moments are few and far between, most of your time will be spent dealing with unimportant tribal nonsense.
Do yourself a favour and play literally any of the other Sony games over this.

150HP doesn't belong in the MW franchise.
1 shot snipers while it takes 5+ shots to kill anyone with an AR.. perfectly balanced.
Add a classic moshpit mode and maybe the game won't end up an irredeemable pile of ♥♥♥♥.

I don't know how this is rated 'mostly positive' with gameplay, audio, story, and graphics this janky/bad. I wasn't expecting much, but from reviews it seemed like this game was fun at the very least but the jank really ruins any enjoyment that could've been found here. I've played a lot of bargain bin shooters but I still feel ripped off having paid $5 for this mess.
The warhammer coat of paint over the game might be enough for some, but not for me.

Incredible atmosphere and art direction but clunky combat and feels like it's missing an act or two at the end.

Man, what a disappointment. After playing MW19 for far too long, I was very excited to jump into the sequel, little did I know what was in store for me.
(I didn't play Cold War or Vanguard so this is a direct comparison to MW19)

--GENERAL/GAMEPLAY--
-Appallingly bad spawns lead to bad map flow
-God awful UI (which they've said they're working on improving but I doubt we'll see any real change)
-Jaw dropping hit registration issues. The sheer amount of times I'll shoot first and die first is obscene.
-Movement feels slow, clunky, and rigid - partly owing to the removal and nerfing of some mechanics such as slide cancelling from MW19. The removal/nerfing of these mechanics reduces your options when approaching gunfights.
-New staged reload system is a neat idea but the amount of times I sprint out JUST before it's finished and have to smack the gun before I can shoot is super frustrating.
-Gun handling has been slowed way down and almost every attachment has negative ADS stats.
-There are 5 different kinds of recoil management for attachments (control, stabilization, smoothness, vertical control, horizontal control)
-Attachment system overall is convoluted and bloated. I don't need 6 different muzzles that do the exact same thing for the same weapon. Attachments should be for that weapons platform only.
-Despite having a billion attachments to choose from in any given category, you can't actually save a custom build (blueprint) for weapons to quickly pick later on if you take the weapon off your class. I assume that will arrive some point down the line but it baffles me that it's not here at launch.
-Unlocking weapons is a tedious confusing mess. To unlock this gun I have to use that gun but to use that gun I have to use some other gun to level 29.
-I despise the new perk system. Literally no one asked for perks to change. Instead of the typical pick 3 perk system of past IW titles, now you pick 2 you'll start with, and another two you'll unlock at points throughout a match.
A better way of doing this would be start with your typical pick 3, but unlock pro versions of those perks as a match progresses.
-In an attempt to make guns feel more realistic, they've added obnoxious visual recoil when shooting, and made most of the weapons far less stable/accurate in general. If you're someone who likes that kind of thing, that's fine, but IWs CoDs have never played/handled like that and that's why I liked them so much.
-Weapon balance seems to have been at the bottom of the priority list for this one. Some guns will just lose every face to face fight even if you get a few hits in before the enemy starts shooting.
-Performance is atrocious on older CPUs despite MW19 running perfectly at 90+fps high settings, on some of the same maps from that game as well. If you have an i7 4xxx series such as in the recommended specs, expect frequent drops under 60fps which is frankly unplayable in a multiplayer FPS.
-Air streaks like vtol and chopper are squishy and die too quickly from mere bullets
-Chopper manoeuvrability has been reduced meaning it's even easier to get shot down.
-Every map so far has problems with too many sight lines.

--AUDIO--
-Directional audio is pretty bad (such as guns being shot in your direction, gone are the cracks of bullets whizzing in your over your head). I believe in MW19 bullets shot at you had amplified audio, so they were easily distinct from others in the heat of battle.
-Footstep audio is very inconsistent.
-Guns in general sound rather crap. I've read that some of the weapons do sound closer to their real counterparts but in game they just sound dull, muddy, and generic. Compared to MW19s beefy, clear, and hard hitting sounds, it's like the weapons have been wrapped in a few thick blankets.
-Hitmarker noise is now a dull thud, and the kill chime sounds like I'm picking up tags in kill confirmed. Wouldn't be a big deal if I at least had the option to switch to MW19s which was immensely satisfying.

A running theme with this game seems to be unnecessary changes and fixing things that weren't broken to begin with.

To summarise, I was hoping MW2 would just be an improvement of the MW19 blueprint with better maps and new weapons/mechanics. Instead, it feels like I'm playing a completely different game, from a different developer, in a different franchise and unfortunately I'm just not feeling it like I did with the previous entry.

(Also RIP to my 4500 CoD Points (at current price over $60aud) from MW19 that Activision won't let me transfer over to Steam)

I wasn't expecting much when I picked this up. I thought I was in for a quick tour around the exclusion zone but the game has so much more to offer than that. Every character has a unique personality with their own quirks and opinions about what decisions you should make during missions. The story was engaging and entertaining with some truly unexpected twists thrown in there. The gameplay and combat were overall enjoyable - if a little basic. There are limited base building mechanics that boils down to having enough of certain items placed to compensate for all your equipment and followers.
If I had one complaint, it would be that the 6 or so maps that are used for missions and exploration wear a little thin by the end of the game. That could be down to me compulsively collecting every resource on the map each time, but the missions would be pretty short if you didn't spend any time on that.

All in all, a very solid little game and I'm glad I picked it up.

Graphics are a bit dated and gameplay is kind of clunky but definitely one of the best horror games I've played. The games atmosphere provides a sense of dread and misery unlike anything else. A serviceable story and gore galore makes this a winner for me. Buy it cheap with the DLC if you're on the fence. If you like horror games - you won't regret this.
