I enjoyed the game but it leaves a lot to be desired compared to the first game.
My biggest complaint is the soundtrack, it's missing the atmosphere that Simon Chylinski brought to the first games. What replaces it just doesn't replicate the same feel.
I feel this situation is even worse than Minecraft replacing C418, and I'm tired of games replacing the music artists that made them what they are.

This game let's you build without much forethought, you place some pieces and tweak them as you go and let the generation mechanics and amazing art style bring it to life. Compared to a block based game like Minecraft, it offers a more care free experience without the need to plan the shape of the building before you start.

The game comes with 63 scenarios in which you have to build a ship within certain limitations, your given a budget that can be split into up to 30 cheap ships or 1 very expensive ship, at the start of a scenario you have options between additional funding or technology, such as gunnery, survivability, or maneuverability, beyond the scenarios you can design ships without budget limitations, you choose a nation and a year between 1890 and 1950, each year having more technology available to you, you can put your created ships against each other or generated ships, with some limitations, opposing teams can be of different years but cannot be the same nation, each team must consist of a singular nation and year, if you've made multiple designs of the same type of ship on the same year and nation it will pick randomly between your designs, and if you put multiple of that ship type into the battle it will spawn multiple copies of the ship the game chose

The most adorable little game about sticking 6 to 8 men into a flying tin can and making them fly over enemy territory.
