Enter the Gungeon is great! Definitely a stand-out in the ever growing "rogue-lite" genre. But is it perfect? Not right now, note I'm writing this week one.

The main problem right now is balance. In a game like The Binding of Isaac, for example, you can get garbage luck the first several floors and still pull yourself up with skill. This doesn't feel like the case in ENG. If you don't get a okayish gun or passive item by floor two, it just feels like tough luck. The bosses have sponge level health as it is, after all.

A minor complant would be a lack of enemy types and playable character differents, but minor is a key word there. There could also be more passive items, but I suppose the game isn't called Enter the Passiveitemgeon.

That being said, it is fun to jump back into the Gungeon after every run, regardless if said run lasted 5 minutes, or 45. Flawlessing a boss that murdered you a few hours ago is pretty great feeling, and getting murdered once again 2 rooms later just pushes you to time those sweet rolls better next time. Plus the fact that they managed to make so many guns feel different from one another is impressive in it's own right.

Developer Dodge Roll have already fixed several issues week one, so I have faith that this already solid game will just keep improving over time.

You know how in many RPGs there are always those shops that are essential to your journey, but their prices are so outrageous you end up cursing the screen? This is a game where you are that shop.

Basically, you manage your own shop and go to randomly generated dungeon to get things from monsters to sell.

The shop managment is simple enough, but a blast. You can customize things to your likeing - prices, layout, what your selling that day, so on.

The dungeon exploring is done in a hack and slack like fashion. It can get repetitive at times, but finding a rare drop that you can sell for half a month's rent alone and unlocking new characters keeps things moving.

Overall it's a super cute and enjoyable experience. If it sounds interesting at all, I definitely recommend checking this game out; especially at it's low price.

Closest thing to a true Paper Mario sequel we're going to get.

Good old Isaac, but with a ton of new things and a smoother polish to what was present in the original. Go buy.

There are bugs, sure. But there are also goats, and that's all that really matters.
Isn't it?

This game gets bashed too much. I can understand to a degree, because there are many moments that don't feel "Resident Evil-ly." But as a co-op action game, it does a lot right. Overlooking the pain that is Games for Windows Live, going through the campaign with a partner was one of the best RE experiences I've had. Just don't expect a survival horror game.
