tl;dr: Really good, but fix the crashes ASAP. The only souls game I've played yet that has crashed on me, and more over frequently enough to be frustrating.

This is a rock solid addition to fromsofts ace formula of games, though it still regrettably falls into familiar shortcomings, particularly in boss design. I feel it worth mentioning in fairness that its more noticeable the more of these types of games you've played before this one. While that familiar and always satisfying feeling of overcoming tough enemies is still there in spades, there's still very little in the way of stand-out boss fight moments. They also continue to abuse the ever tiresome, growingly recognizable fromsoft crutch that they've leaned too hard on for too many games now with their boss design, where bosses have two of the same or similar attacks with one holding off the moment of anticipation, or one with an innocuous or even sometimes jarring pause in the middle, both designed specifically to throw off dodge timing... However other than that and an obnoxiously designed attack for a secret boss, there's still a good variety here.

The potatoes and soup to go with the meat of the boss battles is still undeniably quality of course. Beautifully crafted world, glorious assortment of spells and weapons to suit any kind of player, and the transition into a mapped, more open-ended world lends itself very well to the innate feeling of adventure these games already capitalize on. Scratches that soulsborne itch wonderfully. I would reccomend it to anyone.
