Refreshing in the industry these days to play a full, complete game that's not a service, especially one so fittingly gamey as this one. Always liked the idea of DnD, but absolutely not a fan of scheduled meet-ups and obnoxious character sheets. This bridges the gap to me and I love it. 47 hours still in act one, and already envisioning more playthrough options.

Odds are if you game on PC, or know someone who games on PC, you've heard of Arma somewhere along the line. Too many great experiences (And even entire genres) have been birthed from this game and it's predecessor. The games pedigree really speaks for itself but it's easily the best milsim ever made aside from maybe actual simulators the military uses. Or warthunder or one of those army RTS games if you're a vehicle guy. Strongest modding community of any game on steam outside of maybe Gmod (A game about mods, go figure)

Early Access Review
Solid sequel building on the good points of the first game in the series. Virtually all mechanics saw improvement while the story remained just as serviceable as the last one and creepy enough to keep tension long enough to feel a real progression from terrified unprepared guy into god of the woods.

It's New Vegas, dude. No-brainer for anyone who doesn't already own this. Legendary game. Honestly Bethesda/Obsidian whoever owns the rights here should just make it free forever and submit it to videogame Museums. Even if you bought this right now for full 2010 MSRP at $59.99 it would STILL be impossible to have buyers remorse.

This is a game about surviving and evolving as early Hominids across time, developing into more modern Hominin species in overcoming the challenges of the world around them. After survival, your goal is to see how much faster you can evolve as a species than science suggest. While not without its inaccuracies and liberties taken, it's confidently rooted in Paleoanthropology and seeks to craft an enjoyable experience through the lenses of our distant Hominid/Hominin Ancestors. Thoroughly engrossing thanks to minimal hand-holding and a very thoughtfully crafted "Help" page that gives the player a general idea of progression but avoids specifics, forcing you to quickly realize to pay close attention to the discoveries and "tips" that pop up when you accomplish something with your primates. This hands-off design approach can be made even more stern through an option of forgoing a tutorial and even a HUD. The adventure can initially be very frustrating without either, but allowing for play this way was a risk well worth taking. For those who can overcome the (truthfully pretty shallow once acclimated) learning curve, it culminates into every step of the journey feeling like a genuine series of discovery and accomplishments. While I eventually came to use the "Full Hud and minimal tutorial" option myself after an evolution or two, I strongly recommend this game be played from start to finish as minimal as one can stand. To that effect, I won't take full stock of what could reasonably be picked out as flaws but its worth noting one in particular (though I don't begrudge this game in the slightest for it): Replayabiliy is not a factor. This was clearly designed as a one-and-done experience. That said, you can only experience this for the first time once, and this game is more than deserving in experiencing it to its fullest. While it may certainly be possible, as with all games, to return to it again in years hence with sultry nostalgia flirting with my future self, the Odyssey is over for me. That's okay though, because it made for a unique and immersive set of experiences that I'm sure one day will be fond memories.

Really well made piratin game that's slowly aging like rum with more updates, but get it while you can because eventually the rums gonna be inedible. There isn't much thought put into solo gameplay and basically has to be played with friends or matchmade to be truly experienced, and such sadly means this game will eventually be dead at some point, and the rum will be gone. Though hopefully we're still some years from that for right now. That said I'd recommend enjoying it as soon as you can, preferably on sale because 40 bones is still worth it, but getting it for 20 or 30 would really be a steal. It can get repetitive at times, and the micro can feel a bit predatory, but its atmosphere and aesthetic is unmatched by any other pirate game other than AC Black Flag sailing alongside some chaotic fun gameplay. Way better with friends than matchmaking, but perfectly fine with random scallywags.
