A fantastical game made before I was born. I do not remember who told me to play it, anyhow Im glad I did. I will review this game without any nostalgia since I was a Nintendo only kid back then and only now caught up on playing older FF.

The Story is linear, albeit well made and sound. The ending (of X2) is worth the gameplay. The game mechanics I found fun in the beginning only to grow very tired of it later into the game. I greatly disliked random encounters taking multiple minutes just bcz of large health pools very few individuals can clear later. Since your team is likely broken you just have to sit there, watching 23 y/o animations while actually wanting to see the story.

Yuna and Tidus are great main characters, they are well fleshed out and make for a great reason to play. A couple side characters fall flat, they too however fit well into the story as supporting cast. The religious and fateful themes were amazing, the overall caribic setting cozy. I extremely enjoyed the ethical and philosophical side of the story and the characters used to get the different points of views across. Nowadays its rare to find a game worth playing through simply because of its plot and philosophical themes. I even cried at the X ending so theres that.

Overall a great game with aged gameplay. Sometimes you have to restart the game since cinematic scenes become green due to not being loaded correctly. Closing and opening the game fixes that.

Recommended even now, 23 years later.
