Can we nominate a remake of a game from 2001 as game of the year 2024? The Silent Hill 2 Remake is absolutely phenomenal. An absolute masterpiece. It went above and beyond any expectations I could have had for it. It's incredible how everything feels all so familiar while at the same time feeling fresh and new. Locations have been reworked and expanded upon. New puzzles added, combat that is satisfying as hell once you learn the monsters attack patterns, exploration is rewarding, and voices match their characters perfectly. Jame's voice actor deserves a trophy. I've don't think I've ever heard a more depressed sounding man until plaything this. Boss fights are no longer you running around a room, standing in the corner, and firing your rifle at a boss. Instead, bosses feel like actual boss fights. They tear walls down, require you to dodge them, and slowly evolve as the fight goes on until eventually you kill them. Bosses like the Abstract Daddy are incredible, where the world slowly warps around you as it stalks you through maze like hallways. The "Other World" is exactly how you'd imagine it to be. Rusted walls, chains and instruments of torture litter the hell like world you're transported to from time to time. Characters when speaking retain that uneasy and unsettling feeling from the original. No one in the town seems quite right and feels like they could flip on a seconds notice to something more hostile. James remains sympathetic and his story with Mary has been greatly expanded upon. The game still has the endings from the original while also having developed two new ones that keep the experience fresh and add to the replayability. I don't regret in the slightest getting the Deluxe Edition to play the game two days early. This was absolutely worth it and I'm currently going in for my next playthrough as we speak. 9.5/10, HIGHLY recommend Silent Hill 2. This was better than any of the Resident Evil Remakes. I'll occasionally play the original Resident Evil 4 even though technically, the RE4 Remake is "better". I don't see myself picking up the original Silent Hill 2 anymore now that the remake has released.

Not bad! The Dead Rising Deluxe Remaster is a solid Remaster/Remake of the original Dead Rising that was released back in 2006. It offers a host of QoL changes that make the overall experience more enjoyable while also simplifying some elements of the original to help ease more casual gamers into the series. However, it doesn't come without its issues.

The original Dead Rising isn't a tough game but it required you to have a sense of time management and patience when it came to completing cases and escorting survivors. DRDR felt like it was a lot more lenient when it came to giving me time to complete cases, psychopaths, and survivor missions. Even leveling up in this was a breeze in comparison to the original. Before even reaching the first Carlito fight I was already level 10. By the end of my first playthrough, I was level 48 and had managed to save about 42 survivors without a guide. The Deluxe Remaster includes a few new books that help dumb down the difficulty of the original. Early on you can find a book that increases firearm damage and one that increases survivor's health along with a book that gives you access to late-game skill moves. While you're not required to pick them up, they do help simplify the experience. Survivor locations, clothing locations, pp stickers, and case times are all the same and remain unaltered from the original. Doing my clean-up runs of the game for the rest of the achievements was nice given all of the old guides for the original game still apply to the Deluxe Remaster. I won't delve into the censorship changes but, the changes made were silly and unnecessary. The Cliff psychopath being changed from a Vietnam veteran to a "random war" veteran is the biggest change that I didn't like given he's one of my favorite psychopaths in the series. The removal of erotica is even sillier when you get to the end and realize they kept in a side mission that requires you to take "erotic" shots of one of the female survivors posing for you.

The models in this game look phenomenal... aside from Frank. I don't like the older appearance of Frank in this game. The receding hairline this early on in this series and the amount of wrinkles he has makes him look drastically older than he should. I don't think he should be some young pretty boy but, he definitely should look a lot younger when it comes to the Willamette zombie outbreak. Characters like Isabela, Jessie, Brad, Carlito, and all the psychopaths (especially Adam the Clown) look like they were ripped straight from pre-game renders and concept art from the original game. Voices, for the most part, are serviceable. The inclusion of having all dialogue outside of cutscenes fully voiced is one of my favorite additions to the game and helps you get a bit more immersed. Frank and Brad were the only voices that kinda bugged me and a few psychopaths. Frank's new voice, wasn't my favorite at first, by the end, he'd grown on me but still was by no means Frank West to me. Something about his inflections doesn't hit the same for me. He came across as just a generic reporter man. TJ Rotolo's delivery had a gritty, seasoned reporter feel, which fit Frank’s background perfectly. Rotolo’s voice had a slightly cynical edge that matched the character’s sarcastic sense of humor, giving Frank West a unique charm. Frank West, in TJ's performance, had a distinct, iconic voice that contributed to his memorability, something that was lost with the recasting in the remaster. As for the rest, Isabela, Jessie, and Carlito don't sound all that different from the original. If you didn't tell me they recast Adam The Clown in DRDR, I would have fully believed it was still John Kassir the Crypt Keeper, the new VA was spot on. Overall, visuals look great while voice acting could have been better.

Infinity Mode this time around was A LOT more enjoyable. I attempted the original "7-Day Survivor" achievement once, stayed up an entire night, got to day 6 and my game crashed. I've never tried it again until this Deluxe Remaster came out. With the ability to fast forward time, have survivors and psychopaths marked on your map to easily find food, and the inclusion of a few books that increase how much health you can receive from eating, this was a surprisingly fun achievement and didn't suck up 14 hours of my life! Infinity Mode was fun for the 4ish or 5ish hours it took me to complete and the addition of being able to save mid-mode made it a lot more managable. If you're an achievement hunter, all of the achievements were fun. If you're looking to get all 50 achievements, go for it!

There isn't really much to be said about the Dead Rising Deluxe Remaster that I find notable in mentioning. Sure the QoL changes are nice, the added voice lines, and the simplified achievements that don't suck up hours of your life, are all nice but it feels like a lot more was sacrificed to achieve said changes. A lot of the charm of the original is still there while at the same time, it felt like something was missing still. The Deluxe Remaster is an 8/10. Dead Rising wasn't a game I thought needed a remake/remaster as much as other Capcom classics. The original Dead Rising in my opinion still holds up well, but, even after all is said and done, this will now probably be the one I revisit when wanting to play the first game given the graphical and gameplay QoL changes made.

Capcom, if you're reading my review, I just want ya'll to know that whoever is modeling your female characters. Please, give them a raise. Isabela is absolutely stunning in this game. I mean I kid you not I had steam blowing out of my ears, my tongue unrolled like a carpet onto the floor, my mouth was agape, my eyes bulged out of my skull, and I went "AWOOGA AWOOGA AWOOGA" every time she was on screen. No cap, give them a raise. God Bless them.

"Go on... but trick us again child, and your suffering will be legendary even in Hell!"

The box, I opened it, and he came. He's a challenging but fun killer to learn. Definitely not a killer for beginners. The Cenobite/Pinhead's primary source of attack is his chains titled 'Summons of Pain' where you'll control a singular chain that will fly out of nowhere and hook onto a survivor, slowing them down and allowing you time to catch up. His gameplay style is reminiscent of his appearance in Hellraiser 2 where he primarily summons chains to do his dirty work. Pinhead's perks Deadlock, Hex: Plaything, and Scourge Hook: Gift of Pain are easily among some of the best perks in the game. Having the Lament Configuration Cube be a part of actual gameplay is a nice touch. Survivors need to constantly be on the lookout for the cube, as failing to solve it will summon chains that slow their movement, making them easy prey for Pinhead. The Cenobite looks great, sounds great, and plays great. Recommended for fans of the series and people looking for a challenging killer to play. It's always nice hearing the original Pinhead actor, Doug Bradley, reprise his role to announce when he's come :)

"It was not by my hand that I am once again given flesh. I was brought here by... HUMANS who wish to pay me tribute."

I am not a big Dead By Daylight fan by any means, but the second I saw they were adding Dracula from Symphony of the Night and Trevor Belmont from Castlevania III, I was all in. Dracula offers a fun experience and effortlessly fits the aesthetic of DBD. The ability to traverse the map quickly in bat form before entering a chase in wolf form offers a unique experience that most killers don't provide. The hellfire spell attack in his vampiric form makes avoiding pallet drops easier. Dracula's kill animation and voice lines are wonderful to hear and his pregame lobby comments are always enjoyable no matter how many times you hear them. Trevor's perks are decent, especially 'Eyes of Belmont' which allows you to briefly see the killer's aura after repairing a generator. Hoping to see more Castlevania content added to the game. The Castlevania Chapter of DBD has definitely brought me back to the game. Highly recommend this DLC pack if you're a fan of the series!

In light of recent events, this game has aged like a fine wine. My review is 5/5 fist pumps. Best played while listening to 50 Cent "Many Men (Wish Death)" on loop.

Overwatch 2 is vastly inferior to the original Overwatch. With the lack of dozens of classic maps being absent, overpriced item shop cosmetics, and the original 6v6 format replaced by a 5v5 format, this game doesn't hold a candle to the original. I don't mind the game. I actually find myself enjoying it from time to time, but that's probably just from nostalgia. With the removal of loot boxes, this game has ruined the gambling addiction I had developed thanks to loot boxes. Do NOT recommend!

JoJo's Bizarre Adventure fans won't be disappointed when it comes to All-Star Battle R. Wonderful models, animations, visuals, stages, references/easter eggs, and especially fan-service. What most fans and even casual fighting game fans WILL be disappointed in is this game's netcode. If you're planning on getting this game, DON'T get it for the online. Singleplayer content is a heavily shortened recap of the series picking the primarily high and significant battles to the story for you to play. Local couch play is as enjoyable as it comes when playing against a friend. Gameplay is easy to pickup if you're a more casual fighting game fan like me. I'd recommend it!

As a fan of all things 80's and especially 80's action flicks, I give Broforce two double bicep flexes. This game rocks from start to finish! I feel 10x more patriotic after playing just a single level. The character roster is vast and spans from every iconic possible 80's action film you could think of. Each character is unique with special abilities that act as homages to their respective films. There's not a dull moment in Broforce. From terrorists to demons to aliens, and then demons again. Broforce is easily a must-play indie title in my eyes. Highly recommend it! Buy it on sale or buy it full priced. You won't regret it.

I find the game enjoyable. I played the beta originally and thought it was God-awful. Heard bad things for years until the human update arrived. I didn't pick the game back up until the update that added human NPCs and it was dropped onto Gamepass PC. I found the game to be far more enjoyable after something as simple as human's being added. The world felt more lively than it did barren like the beta felt. Ended up investing at least a 100 hours into the PC Gamepass version before deciding to finally own it on Steam. Gameplay is that of Fallout 4's which I enjoy the gun play of, story not so much. Like most games, it's always more fun when in a group or you have friends. The game can be goofy as hell at times which is something I enjoy. Exploring the wasteland with your friends/randoms, visiting one another's camps, completing the unique events, and just all around wandering the wasteland are fun. Not the best Fallout and not the worse. Fallout 76 is pretty much what I wanted from a Fallout Online. The biggest downside to 76 I'd say is the overpriced microtransaction filled store and battlepass. The fact that you have to buy a monthly subscription in a game you already paid for to get access to something as simple as a "scrap box" is absurd. Most of the interesting and cool armor sets are expensive in the store. Wallpapers for your base cost at least $4 which is ridiculous for a png that has been copy and pasted over and over again. Something like two mannequins cost $8 which should have been included in the base game for free. Overall, it's Fallout 4 but online. I'd recommend it.
