What is garrys mod? Well garrys mod is sort of like really weird, but intriging piece of art. It's in a way not really anything, but at the same time being anything.

For me Garrys mod has been one of the most unique gaming experinces ive had. Why this is, is because its not just another fps. Its very much like a virtual playground for people to ♥♥♥♥ around in. In the best possible way. Do you want to track down a murderer? Do you want to create a animation? do you want to make some really silly art? Make an animation? Build a extremely fast sledge to go down a hill with? Play the piano?

Garrys mod is not a game, hell, it's not even a mod despite what the name would have you think, i'ts a platform.

Personally, the way ive enjoyed it has been with friends, or me finding a little server of like TTT for example, with some nice people on it. It's a fun way to make a few goofy internet friends for a while at least (until the server dies or something else). Its probabaly the best social experince ive had with a bunch of people ive never met before with a game ever.

Like to be honest i dont know what to tell you, and i wont write a very long review, because at this point garrys mod has been a thing for so long, that you probably already know what you're getting in to. But do make sure to either buy cs source, or downloading mods online that will act as a substitute for it. Because otherwise, your experince will... Well it won't be very good, because then you will just be surronded by the trademark pink and black two dimensional cubes. And they will be everywhere!

Im going to just keep it short on this one, because i really dont care much for this game and most people probably already know what to expect.

But its essentially destiny for all platfroms, but worse.

So what is verdun? Well, for starters, its a ww1 infantry fps game, that mainly focuses on so called "trench warfare".
And just to make it clear if it already wasent, when i say its trench warfare, and is a infantry fps game, i mean just that, there are no vehicels or any thing of the sort. The only thing that exists out side of the players equipment that it can use (like grenades, rifles and melee for example, that are directly used by the player), is the artillery strike which one (or more, i cant remember if there are mulitible classes that can do so) of the classes can call.
The game is very immersive, and fairly true to the real thing (at least compared to video game standards), and all of the factions in the game, do actually use the rifles, pistols etc, that were used and manufactured by them. So the british use the lee enfield, and the germans use the .98 mauser for example. Which is to be expected from a historical game, but either way its in there.
And as i mentioned before... The characthers are divided in to diffrent classes in small squads (kind of like in bf, but here the classes can only be occupied by one person at a time). and these classes have diffrent types of weaponry and perks to them, for example the grenadier can have up to four grenades on him, but then maybe just a little pistol as a primary, or you can be a machinegunner mowing down your enemys with for example a large lewis gun.

The game has two game mods one which is basically just team deathmatch, so jsut running around in a trench and blasting eachother away, and then there is the bread and butter mode of the game. Which is a bit similar to almost something a bit like "Rush" form the battlefield franchies, but not really at all, but a nudge. But what you do is that either you start by attacking, which consits of you jumping out of your muddy, stinking, comforteble little trench and run out in to the "no mans land" and try to survive and take your self to the otehr side and then capture the enemys trench. Which is a lot easier said than done. And then if you succed in taking the trench, there will be a enemy counter attack, where the enemy try to take back their old trench through the same procedure as the attackers did.
And here sadly the game starts lacking....

The game is otherwise fairly well balanced and well patched at least i cant actually remeber myself rnning in to bugs while i played it).
But the gameplay it self really lacks. Why? 1# the game is trying to be a realistic ww1 infantry shooter, and let me ask you, do you think it was very fun storming a trench? The answer is no. Most die, and so will you, over and over and over again, getting sniped by a sniper you dont see or mowed down by a mg, or maybe you get killed by morter, or maybe even gas if you dont throw on your gas mask quick enough. And when you finally think: "oh my god, im so close, i can even hear those bastards. And soon i will get my revenge for them killing me 30 times, and i will teabag them so much that from here on out they will be reminded of this very momnet". but then, you and your friend that are all cramped up in a little crater/foxhole, get blown up by one single well placed hand grenade.
And the game is just really redundant to, because its the same thing over and over again, and the enviorment might change abit, but the experince is generally the same.
And the combat isent to god either, since its really quite clunky, and grenade spammy once you get into the trench, and it mostly comes down to who is camping in the best spot.
2# some of the classes are quite similar, which also contributes to the repetetiv nature of the game.

I dont know what to say really, like the game has really lacking gameplay, but then again, its a almost one of a kind game, and there is not really any other game that offers the same experince. In the end maybe it isent really a bad game, just a game that wants to be historically accurate, and at the same time try to make one ofthe most brutal wars ever seen, feel enjoyble.

But this is my opinion on the matter, are you just a general fan of fps games? You might want to skip this one. But if you are a person that wants to experince trench warfare, and a historically accurate game, and is generally intrested in history (specificly the first world war), then this is probably the best game to date to potray that.

So the review will be positive, because its a game that offers a experince that almost no fps games do, and i to be honset cant come up with something like it that ive seen.

Conclusion: The game has a very atmospheric feel to it and is well crafted immersive experince and can be quite fun at times when you get a equal amount of both sides of the gameplay that is offerd, that being to trench warfare, and the very intense and very punishing gameplay of the no mans land. A very unique game, But as most unique things, it is not for everyone.

This game is one of the better games i have played in a while. The game has a fairly interesting plot, well made characters, that you actually get quite attached to, especially Samuel (the guy that ships you in to your objectives, also hope that does not count as a spoiler) The game feels very smooth, and gives you a large variety of cool abilities (like possesion) and also gives you alot of diffrent paths to explore, which lead to "side missions" or rather side objectives. that are people you can find and have dialoges with, and through that might get some sort of help during the mission (by doing something for them in return), like they might tell you that there is a secret way in to the places that you are inserting, for example. And you can just in general find secrets and puzzels. But of course like these many streets you can walk down or buildings you can enter: There are lots of ways you can accomplish your goals, when you have entered so to speak the mission area (like the building where your target is). Like how you want to get through the building, or how you want to "eliminate" your target (Like throwing someone out a window, shooting them with a sleeping dart, or taking some document that might expose them for some crime they have commited.

The atmosphere of the game is also really well done. You do really feel like it is a Victorian-Whale punk (yes, whalepunk) epidemic infested city. Where things are "bad" and leave people thinking if "things could get any worse". The atmosphere is not only made though through only visuals, but sometimes (specificly i remember this during the knife of dunwall dlc, which is also really good) you can listen to dialog that the npc are having, where they sometimes talk about some of the horrible things they have seen. Though dont listen too much to the dialog, because then you will probably never finish the game, since they most of the time repeat the same three lines, like "Are we gathering for whisky and cigars tonight" and then the other one most of the time responds with: "Yes i believe so!", which is the most common answer to the small variety of questions the guards come up with.
And the game look really good for being almost four years old, sure that isnt a super long time. But i just means it is not a bad looking game!

Though one thing is that its a quite short game, but im pretty sure i atleast got about twelve hours in to it. And it was still worth it, and from what i can see now here on the page, it has got a permanent discount all the way down to the extremly small sum of 9.99. I might not have formulated my review very well, but the game is really one of the best story games i have played, and it only costs 9.99, so i really dont know why you are even reading my review, or any ones... JUST BUY IT. Or you can by the definitive edition for 19.99, your call.

Also you dont have to be super in to stealth games to like this game, or even be scared it will be too challenging. Since i have really only played one other stealth game besides this one (which is MGS V)... One more thing, if you liked the look of something like city 17 in half life, this game will be right up your alley, dont really know why, might be the older European arcitecture blended with technology.

9/10, A short but very well made stealth game, that has taken a bit of insperation from games like bioshock when it comes to combat. And just like bioshock, has a lovely enviorment to go full badass in.

I wrote a review for this game many years ago now. Had my fun, but eventually, the magic died that had mostly been created by my young mind's desire to play the arma 2 mod(and it being something completely different and new to what i had previously ever played). But as a kid i couldn't be bothered to set it up. So i played this instead. Now it's been five years since that first day. And yes yes, it's funny, families have been created, people have graduated, people have died, peoples kids have been born and started preschool during the duration of this game's development since 2013 when it hit early access. These guys, the developers of dayz, they've come to work every day for those past five years to work on this. Say what you what ever about the work that they done during those years, but put into consideration that people that honestly don't care about something, at the same time as everyone tells them that what they are working on is garbage, they don't stick around for five years. Now one of those must in that case be wrong. Either they don't care or they do more than anyone else. And i personally choose the believe the latter. The first one we can't be sure of. Although i find it the most unlikely that they don't care about this game after all this time working on it.

Since 2013, ive revisited the game in intervals of a year or so. Much didn't really change the first few years, things looked bad. Rocket jumped off the project, the updates were small, the bug fixes created more issues than they fixed. And then they started working on a new engine for the game.

Building a new engine for the game was probably the best decision they made during development honestly. Since that made the game playable. Honestly, for those of you that have not played dayz in a few years, i ask of you to do try it again. Since now it's actually quite well optimised and it doesn't feel like you're playing a powerpoint presentation.

I could list the efforts they have made to overall improve the game. Although I don't know how helpful that would really be, plus, it demands of me to go looking through the patch notes, or otherwise speaking out of subjective experience which isn't very helpful either.

So, ill just say this. The reason i enjoy dayz is because it does what it says on the tin. You're a person trying to survive from the physical hazards among the ruins of the society which once was. Just strolling around between cities, finding food, looking for some new cool clothes to put on, maybe a new gun even. Or maybe some players to interact with. Go hiking through forests and map out routes to take to different locations. Chit chat with some friends, point out some stupid sign, or laugh at some ugly looking model, look at cool monuments and check it out and then move on, let the silence be filled with bird song, panic when you almost get ripped to pieces by a pack of wolves or when bullets come flying through the air and you have no idea where they are coming from.

People keep complaining about how the game is just walking around and dying from thirst, well first off, then you're probably not trying hard enough to stay alive: get a map and find some bloody pumps to drink from. Or, hey, join a community server that has extra loot. Whatever floats your boat.

But just doing those things won't insure that you'll be having a good time. Dayz isn't for everyone. And that's perfectly fine.

Dayz isn't Star citizen, for better or for worse. Dayz... Dayz is more like Truck simulator. Except that it sometimes runs into extreme spikes of intensity, and you walk rather than drive most of the time (although there are a number of vehicles in the game, although these are quite scarce).

I can however, if the relatively low level of engagement that dayz can from time to time have, or if the engagement to be had does not tickle your fancy, then I think eventually that may be addressed now that there is from my understanding a quite extensive modding tools exist for the game. So if the modding scene gets going for this game, i could see this game becoming gradually more like the mod if that is what you are looking for, which i definitely see the appeal of, and i would also really like to play that. It's just that I'm fine with playing this too.

If you're interested in the game. I would recommend getting a few friends to play together with, and try to not be too serious, and just take it a bit chill sometimes, and sometimes, you know, be more aware of where you're walking. Stick to tree lines. Don't walk in the open. Elektro is a deathmatch, and, there are no friendlies in cherno.
