At this point I'm not sure which weapons the developers actually want players to use or enjoy. Fun gameplay is easily blunted by repeatedly having weapons and equipment yanked back and forth on the power scale, sometimes for seemingly no reason.

Streets of Rogue is an extremely fun game. It is deceptively simple looking, but has so many options it's hard to keep track of. There are like two dozen characters to play as, custom character creation, multiplayer, level editors... this game is bizarrely deep. You can tackle problems in myriad ways; go stealthy, sneak around! Shoot the place up! Turn everyone into zombies! Do what you want. As long as you complete your tasks, your methods are valid.

You can't be blamed for looking at this game and thinking it's another goofy indie pixel art garbage heap, but the simplicity of the visuals is part of why everything works in a way that's hard to explain. Just play this game. It's fun.

After a shaky start thanks to server weirdness, the game is finally in its stable and steady state. Some people still have problems with connecting and staying connected to friends for multiplayer (arguably the focus of the series), but I haven't experienced anything of the sort.

Monster Hunter as a series has always been a little tedious and this game cuts out a great deal of that. This whole game, while still Monster Hunter at its core, greatly streamlines the experience without losing any of the appeal. It axes a lot of the grind for materials through various ways without removing the fun of tackling monsters to get the equipment you need to fight more monsters.

Probably the biggest drawback to the game is the... let's call it the Japanese UI. For whatever reason, user-friendly and workable UIs don't seem to be the strongpoint of most Japanese developers. While I am totally used to this thanks to old Monster Hunter titles, Souls titles, etc. friends new to the series have expressed very valid criticsm of the way the game handles menus, information presentation, and controls. This also affects multiplayer connectivity in an obtuse way since it can be a hassle to get through the menus.

Probably the biggest crime the game suffers from is first-title syndrome. Monster Hunter games have fallen into a pattern where the first game in a new generation is essentially a barebones version of what will come next. If the pattern follows, we will get something like Monster Hunter World: Ultimate which will include much more content in the form of monsters, equipment, locales, and maybe even new mechanics (bring back playing as a palico!!!). It isn't even necessarily the case that Monster Hunter World in its current form lacks content, but that people experienced with the series and familiar with the gameplay will be able to blaze through all of the hunts without much issue. Almost nothing has changed with old monster behavior while the new monsters--though cool--are not exactly breaking the mold.

This is a wonderful game that will give you a ton of fun despite its relatively minor flaws, but hopefully this title is greatly expanded upon in its current form, rather than re-released with new things packaged in as older titles in the Monster Hunter franchise have been.

buy it or you're as dumb as a gargwa

I dropkicked a man off a building where he fell to his death in a crowd of zombies. I was pumped up on drugs I made from a mushroom I found under a garbage can and some leaves. Immediately afterwards, another human enemy kicked me off a ledge instead and I fell into a pile of refuse, with him falling right after me. He didn't make the landing. Oops!!

I cannot recommend this game for a number of reasons. Some people will have an issue with the leasing on weapons and items (it's just a way to keep you playing, though) and the cash shop, but the biggest issue is actually the gameplay.

The gameplay is like a weird, janky version of Gears of War. It does not play or handle smoothly. You will probably get killed trying to take cover or get away from cover just because the controls are iffy and the game's responsiveness is even more questionable.

Fun concept, poor delivery. But it *is* free, so you can try it out without risking anything but a little bandwith.

This is one of those (currently) bad games that is still tremendous fun. It has a lot of bugs, whackiness with physics, weird graphical issues, and a plethora of other problems, but the core gameplay is fun enough despite the flaws. Hunting for junk with your friends and all dying to a puking zombie cop is one of those special highlights.

Also everyone will have constant diarrhea. Be prepared.
