If you enjoy grand strategy games and simulated army battles this is the game for you.

Only downside a part from it´s all but generous DLC system is that it has really ruined historical TTW titles for me.

I do recommend it because it´s the only game of its kind honestly.

Great without mods - Fantastic with mods.

Though you need a good CPU with decent ram to even think about playing this, and honestly the SSD is not even optional at this point.

Fantastic shooter on the more sneaky and "hardcore" side of the genre.

Unforgiving yet endlessly rewarding.

So take your gun, knife and stick of dynamite and start hunting.

Obs. Optional, but highly recommended step is also to bring a friend - Everything is better with a friend.

Great sandbox with a M&B style of campaign movement and simulated battles.


If you enjoy spending 10 hours designing missile launchers on your hastily put together wood boat - this is the game for you.

This game has everything the devs promised, no feature cuts and by watching the promotion material you know exactly what you get.


If you´re into the genre and this type of combat you will love it. If you aren´t you prolly won´t.

It´s a niche game for a niche audience - That being said, game is fantastic.

Gameplay

An unique and intressting concept with increadbly poor execution. The game takes place on what is know as an ARK, why and how is later revealed in the story. The game contains a bucket load of dinos and are very captivating once you get thrown in to this savage and brutal world. In the beginning and at first glance the game is easy to progress in and it feels like you're consitantly moving forward. You get rewarded for exploring the island and looting the sky shards which contains diffrent loot depending on its colour.

After a few hours you should have a basic base up and running and its time to tame your first dino. Diffrent dinos have diffrent abilities and stats, some are tanky and are usefull to farm berries, woods or stone etc. Others are more fighting oriented and some are great for transporting goods or people. The rest of the game is pretty much rinse and repeat, rebuild your base with a higher tier building material which contains more components, tame bigger/better/faster dinos, venture in to more dangerous areas of the map.

So far it's a solid survival/base building experience with many unique mechanics and heeps of content. But after your first 100 hours the game turns into a wierd stat grinder. To keep your dinos relevant you have to breed them by mating two diffrent sex dinos with preferred stats and hope the offspring gains the prefered stats. The later stages of the game turns in to this maintence heavy stat grinder where tribes houses 100rds of dinos just to mate them into dinos with good stats, essentially making it a min/max simultor.

The game heavily favors offline base raiding, its cheaper to get equipment to raid a base than it is to maintain a base. Essentially making offline base raiding the most viable option, promoting a playstyle that rewards avoiding conflicts and just wait until your enemys are offline.

Tech

Game suffers from serious optimization issues, and it does not look like we will see any solutions in the near future or at all honostly.

It looks pretty but even high end riggs consistantly suffers from frame rate issues. Official servers can get really laggy.



TL;DR

Games great to explore as a new player, has much fun to offer in the beginning. The PVP is an offline raid fest, Game gets really stale after a while and turns into a wierd stat grinder min/maxing simulator. Not optimized at all.

5/10 for offline SP.

3/10 for Online play.

Generic shooter, nothing much to it. Duck and cover vs masses of enemies. Is what everyone who hasnt actually finnished the game thinks. Without spoilers this game is a suprise, its story telling is its selling point. You DO want to play this game, and you most definatly want to finnish it.
