I've never been into fantasy RPGs, but this game made me reconsider that. There is a huge amount of depth to the story, and player choice (whether explicit or implicit) has real consequence in the game. Larian Studios are great developers and have an amazing track record. Also, the game is DRM free and there will be no pay-walled in-game content or DLC. If you are on the fence, I'd say give the game a shot.

Seriously fun and unique game, pushes the boundaries of modern rendering and physics while still being playable on mid-tier system (40-60 fps GTX 980 i5 6600K). Endless mods also mean that the game will always have something new to offer. Do yourself a favour; buy this game.

One of the most immersive VR experiences out right now. Its getting constant updates, the dev listens to player feedback, and it has tons of workshop maps and missions. There is an easy to install modloader, although there aren't many mods out right now. There are also community made groups for people looking for casual and hardcore experiences; everyone is very welcoming. Definitely worth the price.

Puzzles are convoluted at worst, tedious at best. The sequence for the dining room puzzle did not really make sense, how are we supposed to derive it? While the greenhouse one was fairly easy, it was very slow and only allowed one player to interact with anything meaningfully. Overall, none of the puzzles felt fulfilling to solve. I wish the developer(s) the best, but I cannot recommend this game.

good stuff, some parts are kind of unintuitive

Very interesting story and fantastic atmosphere. The survival horror elements are well done, especially at the higher difficulties. The game is rough around the edges and its age makes it even more apparent. The voice acting can be off at times, the animations feel cartoony, and level design is confusing. Graphically, this game holds up. There are times where the game looks fantastic, mostly due to its excellent art direction and use of atmosphere. The models are detailed and unique, but the textures and lighting could be better. The animations also feel very unnatural and exaggerated, which contradicts the tense, gritty atmosphere. Of course this game is a decade old (and a remaster) and still manages to look good today. The levels are fun and full of detail, offering different approaches to get through environments. Still, the game is very linear, and you can only progress from area to area if you take the proper routes. The problem is that the routes you have to take are unclear. I'm not suggesting a marker or giant arrow to tell me where to go, but the environmental cues often lead you in the wrong direction and you end up walking around checking every part of the environment figuring out where to go. Still, this game is a fantastic experience, and can get your heart racing. I highly recommend you play all of the games in the Metro franchise. These games are even more impressive considering how the company that developed this game was formed.

Level design is not great, and the shooting doesn't feel impactful.
