[STORY SPOILERS AHEAD]

1.0.1.5: new patch today, the framerate, gpu cpu usage and memory leaking issues seem to have been cleaned up a little bit but the game crashes more often now and always crashes in the first cutscene you meet Marlene in, pretty much the same place each time too. Using the oo2core from Warframe further improves these issues but only by a slight amount. still unplayable + crashes my steam deck every time after about 5 mins of shader compilation or after loading for a couple minutes, using GE7-47, Proton EX and Proton 7.06 all produce largely the same results with a few small deviations, if you really want to play it on the deck i reccommend Proton Experimental using the Low graphics settings [the default medium graphics are way too high for the deck]

1.0.1.6: stuttering is even worse in this hotfix, the crash on the previous cutscene [where you first meet marlene] has not occurred in this version for me, however it did crash in the cutscene where joel is sleeping on the couch in an apartment while it rains and ellie is *looking out the window before they leave town. Memory usage is a bit lower but still not exactly playable

1.0.1.7: stuttering is much worse again, crashes are so much more frequent, the experience on lowest settings on the Steam Deck [2TB NVME] is terrible, staying at around 1-3 FPS. This game is ♥♥♥♥♥♥ if they can't fix this ♥♥♥♥ really soon, because it should have been fixed by now, they claim that they are fixing things but it just does not seem to be true, if you want to play this game just play it on PS3 / PS4 / PS5 or, better yet, PLAY DAYS GONE!!! :)

1.0.2.0: new patch just shipped yesterday, took me till now to load the shaders, i have started the game using the continue button, after about 5 seconds after loading it crashes i have tried this 4 times, once on the deck, and three times on my computer, i am not sure what happened with this update but there you go, for the few, precious, seconds i was in the game the framerate was around 20 FPS with all the settings at the lowest possible, AMD FSR 2.0 <3 at ultra performance with some major stuttering for a few seconds at a time but other than that, it worked fine enough till it crashed :/

1.0.2.1: mostly just the same, the stuttering seems to be a smidge better but the framerate seems bad, didnt crash with the short amount of testing i did though.

1.0.3.0: shaders compiling again, took about 2 - 3 hours, crashed twice at about 50% and 80%. finally shaders are done so i try to load into the game, took 10 mins to get to about 35% and then crashed, aint trying it again after that

1.0.5.0: shaders again but this time it took about 30 minutes, still really bad but for what it's worth it has clearly improved a lot and is not that long anyway just frustrating, fps seems to have possibly improved and for the short while i played [5 minutes] the stability and stuttering were really good, i would definitely not buy it yet but its probably not a terrible experience if you meet the minimum specs but do be prepared for god awful graphics, if you meet recommenced however, it may be a decent experience. I am upgrading to a high end gaming GPU tomorrow so i will see how the performance is there, i apologise that i can no longer update my review based on my original specs, it was fun and i did miss a few revisions but if there is somehow, someone reading this then i hope you can enjoy this game either now or in the near future. thank you for reading, also if you are somehow still reading this then please consider trying out Days Gone, it is insanely good and if you like open world games then there you go. 1.0.5.0 still: this time shaders took 20 minutes [for main story at least, also it got stuck on 98% and 99% for like 30 seconds each], the game recognised that I had installed a new GPU and set the graphics to the recommended for my GPU which was for whatever reason max settings. the main menu, while compiling shaders, is currently sitting at a nice, but unstable, 69 - 76 FPS. In game, in the 'downtown' area the framerate varies from 60 - 70 FPS by looking around but not straight up at the sky [looking up into the sky makes the FPS a maximum of 95, so yeah kinda unfair if we are getting an average of the area].



So I think the game is finally playable for me [with my original configuration] but me and many others should have had this experience when the game first released, not like almost a quarter of a year later. This is the reason that my review will always stay negative, even if they did a really good job of remastering the game [spoilers; they did the bare minimum] or making a great pc port [lmao], it was buggy as all hell when it first released, and thats just not cool.

i have seen all this game has to offer and i must say it is ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥, the game forces you to be 'a monster' for the sake of the plot. i wanted to be good but the game will never continue if you are good, you HAVE to be bad. ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥. the narrator is damn boring too and says the same ♥♥♥♥ over and over again. i am very dissapointed, pretty sure the devs only want the money.p.s: it is DEFINITELY a ripoff of 'There Is No Game: Wrong Dimension' just play that, that is not only a good game but also actually funny.

this is truly the snake eater of the residents which are indeed evil, all four of them, BINGO !!!
