A Metroidvania with a larger focus on puzzles and exploration than combat, as evidenced by gaining the triple-jump 15 minutes in.

It rocks and stones

Seriously tho, it itches the L4D horde shooting and the spelunking part of Terraria, combining them into a wonderful experience with cheerful dwarves and wondrous weaponry

They bit more than they could chew.

No, seriously. Once they saw what they sold during the launch honeymoon, they boldly released a roadmap featuring dedicated servers, sanctioned mods and a DLC within some months.

Half a year later, only two of the functions are in the game and the DLC contains annoying grind for different glowing weapons already in the game and unreleased cosmetics hidden in the game, which you could acquire yourself through modding without having to grind through the maps, which over time has become a chore.

Playing has become a chore, having to deal with the eversprawling bugs and questionable balancing. Most fixes feels like a quick patchup, reasonable some weeks after launch, but not several months after the launch honeymoon. The fixes in bugs and balancing feels quick and dirty, and introduces even more bugs or reintroduces the ones they fixed some weeks prior.

It's hard to introduce a friend to the game because of the power and level system, which leaves you frankly overpowered and your friend are just trailing behind, which sucks the fun out of both. By the time they can unlock orange weapons and talents, they're probably burnout by having to play the same map over and over while getting carried.

The endgame isn't fun either, where a bug can be run-ending and the special red loot doesn't feel worth the hassle because the drop chance are absurdly low and they're just the weapon with glowy bits or doesn't even have a custom skin.

If you're looking for a fun, 4-player coop game where you don't feel burdened or pestered by bugs, grind or elves, just get Left for Dead 2, or Payday 2, or any other game. Please.
