Are we go for invasion? Aff mechwarriors! I only got into Battletech & Mechwarrior after the HBS game came out. MW5: Mercs and MWO were fun but didn't really get me into the lore like BT and its mods. This was so much fun from both lore and gameplay sides. Intense combat and cool cutscenes.

Voice acting is hit and miss. Cutscenes are usually well done, but in-game, it feels like the VA's didn't quite know what emotions to emphasize. As an example, the Kit Commander at the start is very aggressive towards the star in the cutscenes and then becomes almost friendly during the mission dialogue.

I also dislike how it follows every BT & MW game of starting with Light Mechs and easy missions, working up to Assault Mechs and endless waves of mechs. I was hoping to build a balanced Star with medium, heavy and assault mechs, but can't be done. The game overwhelms you with boss fights and waves of IS mechs, so running a Star that isn't all Assault in the last few missions is impractical.

Overall, fun for the first couple runs to get both endings. Afterwards, I'm not sure I'll run it again until it gets new missions.

So far so good. Diving for Super Earth is fun. Was part of the closed testing for Starship Troopers: Extermination and I would say this is much better, generally. What was better in STE was the larger team and the mad dash to extract. Otherwise, gun play, communication, polish, enemy AI, and strategems are all much better here.

Also, we got Sony to back down from requiring a sudden PSN implementation that would have killed this game. Well done, Citizens! Keep doing your part!

I wish my job was this fun. After a day of teaching, I unwind by building my own school which has all the money I wish I had in real life. I assume this is what being a principal in Japan is like.

I'm doing my part! By leaving a proper review!

TL;DR: Game good. Devs currently active and planning more content. PVE only, stop asking for MP. Buy and support. Would you like to know more? Then keep reading.

As of this writing - you get a full campaign of over a dozen missions which includes units from all 3 movies and the two Japanese CGI movies. The OVA and Roughneck Chronicles are NOT included. There are currently two Extra Scenarios which allow access to the full roster. Be aware - this is NOT Early Access. This is the core game, around which more content will be added. I participated in the demo and Beta. This is a small studio and they have released a good product within their timeframe and means.

Devs have stated they intend to include more content in future.

Gameplay - Are there Bugs? Of course, there are Bugs. This is Starship Troopers! Know your enemy! Jokes aside, the game runs well. Terran units work well and generally aren't idiots if enemies are nearby. That being said - hotkeys will save your life. If you're the RTS gamer who doesn't hotkey, some of the missions will be nigh impossible for you. I get definite Starcraft and Command & Conquer vibes in terms of the combat mechanics. Not much in terms of base building, which keeps the focus on combat.

Maps are large enough that you may have to fight on multiple fronts rather than just blob and push forwards. Also, units have a line of sight mechanic. So, Squad 2 will not be able to shoot through Squad 1 if they are lined up behind each other and bugs are to the front. This is a good challenge since it requires thought in unit movement and placement. Leave a squad isolated, they will be swarmed and killed

There are multiple enemy types and there is some rock-paper-scissors mechanics. But all units can kill all enemies - some just take longer. Rifle Squads are take a long time to hurt Plasma Bugs, for example. Or Snipers can outrange Spitters.

The gameplay bugs are trivial and barely noticeable. Post-release, I've only seen one instance of Arachnid pathfinding getting confused and one instance of clipping. The lost Arachnid did eventually get out of the confused path and start heading towards one of my bases. The clipping issue was solved by killing the offending Arachnid. So, again,

Music & Voice Acting: Passable. Could be better but that's trivial compared to the gameplay being nearly flawless. They know how to put corny lines in. My current favorite is "If we ain't dying, we ain't trying!" No, there aren't any cast members from the original 1997 movie reprising their roles. No, there aren't any hero units currently. Maybe in the future. General Rico is only mentioned in passing.

Visuals: Good for what it is. Arachnids are Arachnids, troopers die in gruesome ways. It is easy to tell apart all of the Terran units and generally easy enough for the Arachnids. I sometimes confuse Tigers with regular Warriors, but that's only when the two are mixed in large swarms.

If new content comes, I will add more to this review.

IMO, this is better than World of Tanks and its spin offs. There's no HP bar on vehicles and you just have to learn how to make use of the weapons and vehicles to get the most out of them.

Pretty fun VN game. Lots of different combinations and somewhat compelling stories. The best part is obviously the 3D CG and it doesn't disappoint. I look forward to the sequel.

A very fun medieval realism game. It feels a bit clunky at times during combat but that's a rare occurence. More often, you just need to think better about how you're fighting. Story is quite fun as long as you're not expecting to be the next Commander Shephard.
