This is as close as it gets to The Expanse official game, absolutely love it. A modern naval combat simulator that wouldn't look astray at a real world navy training facility, except that its in 3D space. I look forward to more content, especially the rebel faction.

This game is an instant classic and not only pays homage to the original Homeworld saga, but even surpasses it in some areas. The game is visually and audibly stunning and the OST gives Dune vibes of life in an unforgiving desert. The story is a perfect origin story for the space opera that follows, with recognisable clan and family names that appear generations later. The religion of the antagonists (fear of space travel) makes complete sense given the reason for their banishment. I haven't tried multiplayer, but in all fairness the value of any homeworld game is in its campaign which is an experience. Worth the price for the story alone.

I'm new to dungeons and dragons in general but I absolutely love the system and I especially love the Forgotten Realms setting. This game is almost a completely digital recreation of the tabletop game, almost all of the mechanics (to my eye) are translated into this game to the point where I can sit in front of my PC with my Players Handbook to double check stats on certain weapons or check certain abilities. There are some concessions for the translation to a digital medium, but for the most part these are logical choices and the game is extremely fun. The visuals and audio are top notch and the variation on what you can do or HOW you can do it provides endless replayability. My only game mechanic gripe is the 'Shove' mechanic. Too often I can shove a boss off a ledge 'off the map' before a fight even starts to make my life easier for the ensuing battle. In the tabletop game, a shove is an action in place of a normal attack and is only successful if you beat the opponent in a contest of Strength. This needs to be implemented in the game ASAP as the ability, especially outside of turn based combat, is OP. Otherwise, I absolutely adore this game and even in the Beta which only has Chapter 1, I have already sunk 40-odd hours of exciting gameplay into this gem. I look forward to the ability to play 'Couch' co-op ( splitscreen) with my wife, just like you can in divinity original sin 2.

Edit: Two years later and hundreds of hours in, hands down the best game I've ever played.

The game is very bare bones in its current state, but what bones you do see are very strong indeed. You can tell that this game is a labour of love and the developers are passionate and well schooled in U-Boats and naval tactics.

As it stands, it makes for a fun co-operative learning experience. The systems are detailed and realistic, the behaviour of the enemy AI ships is believable and it is just so rewarding operating a submarine as a team. Even better if you can round up a few more friends to man multiple subs to form a wolfpack.

The manual is well presented and informative, however some tutorial missions on each of the stations is definitely something I hope they implement on release.

There is a lot of work to go, however, as the current skirmish style missions are very bare bone. Hopefully we will see a flourish of interesting story driven missions now that the workshop is available, however I feel that these will still be limited due to how bare bones the game is. There needs to be a greater variety of assets, from allied and enemy shipping and aircraft, to fleshed out ports. Correctly IDing a target as friend or foe would add much more challenge to the game. I am not too concerned with this as these are content additions, lets just hope the development schedule is quick.

One gameplay mechanic that is sorely lacking is the lack of a 'fast time' or 'traverse time' system. I'm not sure how this could be best implemented in a co-op game, but maybe the ability to fast forward lies completely with the captain, or maybe it can be a vote system where anyone can unpause at any time. Either way, this is a must have for people who dont want to play the 100% realistic experience and be glued to their PCs for days on end. Some of us have families and jobs! To remove any risk of fast time, the game can automatically return to normal time so long as an AI or player is left on the hydrophone station or looking out on the bridge and a randomly determined proximity to contacts can trigger the change (the distance can be increased/shortened based on weather, number of watchmen, etc). I'm not a game developer, but as a game player this is almost non-negotiable!

I look forward to more content and features soon!

Very faithful to the tabletop game, obviously with some changes to gameplay mechanics to allow for realtime. Visuals are amazing, sounds and effects are excellent. The way gameplay actually works is great in battle, however the campaign is a bit limited. Rather than invasions, the enemy fleets should be free to move around just like your own, so the player must balance offence with defence. A more fleshed out campaign would have been really cool, but this is the same as any other warhammer game bar the total war franchise. Would recommend this game in any case.

Picked up the game for some light hearted starwars fun because it was cheap, its a shell of the old battlefront and I knew that going in. The inability to pick from a server list is infuriating and leads to endless loops of sitting around waiting for matchmaking, with the low server count of late this makes the game basically unplayable.

Be warned, there is no option to disable input devices ingame so you have to unplug joysticks/pedals/steering wheels to avoid spinning on the spot. I have 13 USB devices and this is a huge PITA; even more disappointing that EA/DICE have known about and committed to fixing this issue for years and so far haven't and probably never will...

The only solution is to never give EA/DICE your money, even discounted.

The best total war game so far, the culmative improvements across all games make for an excellent experience. Of note is the improvements to the UI, the battle AI (They vary their tactics and flank/feint rather than just walk at you as in previous games. Stressful and challenging to counter), the campaign AI (A nice mix of reasonable diplomacy and raiding nutters that have no interest in peace) and improvements to co-op gameplay (The only way I play, the line drawing definitely helps with planning out battles). These improvements cannot be overstated, they really make the game come alive and challenge you.

The main con is CAs use of DLC packs to sell you half of the races from the game, a cash-sucking strategy I would expect from the theives at EA rather than this sage company. While I don't agree with the strategy, it doesn't affect the base game as harshly as you would expect - the existing races in the base game are all unique and interesting to play and you could happily play without any of the DLCs.

The only exception I make is the Age of Charlemagne campaign (which I have yet to play) but I was tempted because I think that this DLC is a precursor to a Medeval III game which I really hope is the case. Please make this CA!

Overall, thankyou for a great game, but please rethink your marketing strategy.

Great orbital physics engine, planetary transfers and slingshots work really well. Building your own practical rockets and stations is just as much fun. Puts into perspective how hard a two-way return trip to another planet really would be...

TL:DR Best game ever!
