Half-Life if it were a survival and crafting game, but with more emphasis on exploration and problem solving to advance rather than the tedious grinding that most survival games have.

This game scratches an itch I didn't even know I had. It's a very fun and satisfying mash-up of settlement building, production chain management, and rouge-lite elements.

I played this during one of the free weekends. The concept is interesting and it's very atmospheric, it definitely feels like it has potential.

Unfortunately, the game suffers from a lot of clunkiness:
  • The current UI as of writing this review is awful and makes inventory management a chore.

  • Combat feels unpolished as well. I've had several fights where I'm ducked behind a hill or cover and unable to see the enemy, but they're still able to hit me. It feels like the player's hit box extends much higher than the camera so when you think you're ducked behind something you actually aren't.

  • There's some odd QoL damaging quirks. Sure, you can have multiple characters, but there seems to be no reason whatsoever to have multiple characters. Your world is shared between all of your characters, including enemies, loot, and story progression. The shared story progression is a huge issue because you get a ton of XP from progressing the story, which any new characters will be at a massive disadvantage for being unable to get any of that XP as the story will already be progressed.

I had some fun with the game, but until they can address the issues I listed, I can't recommend buying the game in its current state.
