Early Access Review
Optimization is really weird. I'll get a stable 100 fps in game despite having an apu with an egpu setup over thunderbolt. The map though, it's like 10 fps or less. The amount of content here is pretty good, but traversal and dungeons could use some revision or additions.
Building a car or bike with storage on it would be rad and help cut down on the need to build a new base to travel out to drop off loot. If there needs to be an additional gameplay loop need for it, maybe even some flying enemies spawning around while driving doing damage to your vehicle and requiring repair and defense when driving could work. The dungeons aren't bad per-say they just need a little more variety enemy wise. Maybe a champion system with tougher and more aggressive enemies spawning at random could alleviate some of those woes.
I love the building and am looking forward to more updates. I'd even be willing to pay for an expansion if they make one.

I'm waiting for the last mission. No means to do any of the ship related activities and can't go back to dungeons to grind. I can only re-run coliseum battles. I have 10 days left and nothing to do with them. The combat is great, but the mana regen is slow in real time fights and the rest of the game feels incredibly empty. Managing day to day tasks can feel like a chore and I spent most of my hours running in circles for unique dialiog, The lack of voiced lines in many areas, really weird bad optimization, and lack of real decisions stemming from dialog makes this a harder sell. This game really needs a revision whereas the last few persona games didn't need them. Hopefully Atlus gives this one a lot more love because this ones needs it more.

Also, early game hornets and getting stuck with full party status effects for 5 minutes because you can't reset feels horrible. The Dragon bosses don't feel good because the hints do nothing and it's trial and error and refocusing your build into a couple of rigid setups whereas the rest of the game really isn't that way.

Right when the writing becomes too much, the gameplay options start to open up.
It's about 20-25 hours to 100% the game with all achievements.
I would recommend it.

I hate Nexon with all my heart, but this is good. It's like when EA gives money to indie publishers every once in a blue moon.
I hope Nexon doesn't tear this devs for other projects and are given more money to do this style of single player game or continue to giving it DLC far into the future.

Lots to like here. My only real gripe are some hitboxes and checkpoints feeling not very well spread out. Had quite a few times where I had been 30 minutes deep and died to a grab or hit that was not even facing my direction and running back taking longer than I'd like because of the checkpoint spacing.

I've played and beaten every souls game (&Demons/BB/Sekiro) and I can't find myself recommending Elden Ring over any of them at the moment. Maybe once mods have come back in and filled the empty areas and added depth to the movesets that are copied and pasted over and over. The DLC suffers from the exact same issues as the base game does BUT it does have new and great eye candy when it comes to weapons, armor, and area designs. It's just that balance is completely out the window with the DLC specifically. Scadutree fragments are good in theory, but they're only absolutely necessary to beat the final boss but not at all for any other boss. Weapon balance is insanely broken in PVP and PVE and I feel it's largely ignored with the "choose your own difficulty" mantra whereas previous games more or less made everything viable. I didn't enjoy my time with many enemies and bosses even after learning them. It was either a cake walk or a chore. Strength or melee feels the slowest and least fun it has in any souls game despite the new and flashy moves only because you have to wait so long to get an opening. Your only options are to tank it and hope for a stagger or play passive. NPC summons and reused bosses galore here too. Plenty of bosses have reused animations from bosses from DS3 and many bosses reuse animations from the base game. While many may love their first fromsoft game and I am not one to take that from them, I do think anyone would have a much better time playing Ds3 or BB or Sekiro. (If you do play Ds3, check out the champions ashes mod. It's the best mod for Ds3 IMO. Also, someone ported Malenia to Sekiro and it's far more fullfilling in that game than it is in ER)

If you'd make a paid DLC that adds a character or some more items, I'd buy it,

weirdly unoptimized. I can run elden ring at a stable 60 but not this. On med/low end hardware I wouldn't recommend.
(I am using a gpdwin4 with an egpu)

STOP BREAKING MY MODS.
Leave the game alone. You introduce more bugs into the game with each and every update. Let the community enjoy your game and stop actively making it worse. Tell the MS execs to work on a new title and not break your previous ones.

I can go on and on about how much this does right whereas many like it don't come close. My one issue is on the art style changes made for the revision. This version is cleaned up and more uniform and far more mechanically sound, but there's some crunch and style in the freeware vers that has been lost in the cleanup/expansion.
I love and hate that you can drop your difficulty but can't re-raise it. Keizo makes the mental battle a reoccurring one.
